Am I Weird?

Someone, whose opinions I respect a great deal, recently read The Human Template.

He called me up and asked a number of articulate and thought-provoking questions about the book and the world I created there.  What delighted me more than anything was my ability to provide him with thoughtful and interesting answers. I’ve never perceived myself as particularly erudite, but because his questions we

Dale added a status update: Perhaps I am writing in a genre after all. It may not have its own ‘category’ on Amazon, but it will definitely help me provide context for readers and reviewers and interviewers for what to expect from my books. The more I think about it, the more I realize that this is the genre (or non-genre) I’ve always been writing. I think I'm maybe... I'm Weird.

I was in a Creative Writing class where we were asked to present three stories that we'd like to work on. The class then voted on which one they would like to see / read. In my case, the readers wanted the female character. I did have the choice to n See Moss’s answer.

I write about the block. What does it look like? What shape is it? Texture? Taste? And the block becomes part of the process.
Dale and 1 other person liked Steve Alspach's review of Moon People:
Moon People by Dale M. Courtney
"As Plan 9 from Outer Space is to the cinema, and the Shaggs' Philosophy of the World is to music, so Moon People is to literature. If you expect quality in your reading material, steer clear of this one. If you like "so bad it's good," this will be r" Read more of this review »

William Gibson
“I had read and admired Ballard and Burroughs, and I thought of them as very powerful effect pedals. You get to a certain place in the story and you just step on the Ballard.”
William Gibson

Chuck Palahniuk
“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That's the only lasting thing you can create.”
Chuck Palahniuk, Choke
