Connie Johnson Hambley grew up on a small dairy farm just north of New York City. In 1965, an arsonist burned her family's barn to the ground. From that experience grew the stories that have become "The Charity" and "The Troubles."

Hambley writes about strong women from their perspective in situations that demand the most from them. No special powers, no gadgets, no super human abilities. Just a woman caught up or embroiled in something that she has to get out of, hopefully alive.

Every bit of personal experience is used to create a story that is as believable as it is suspenseful. Using her law and investment background in ways unique, creative, but not altogether logical, Hambley has enjoyed robust professional pursuits that include writing

Hi Helen!

Thanks for asking! Book 3, with a working title of "The Wake," will be released in 2017. To keep my readers happy in the meantime, I have a short story being published this November by Level Best Books in "New England's Best Crime Stories" anthology. The story, "Giving Voice," brings us inside a US-based human trafficking ring through the eyes of a rescued woman. Does it have murder? Yup. Suspense? Yup. Horses, too!

"The Wake" is promising to be a corker! Jessica returns to the States just in time for the Atlanta Olympics. Remember what happened in 1996? The Centennial Park bombing set the world's nerves on edge. Hmm, did the Charity have anything to do with it? For updates, please follow me here, FB and/or Twitter. Links can be found on my website, www.conniejohnsonhambley.com.

Thank you so much for writing, Helen! Keep in touch and Happy Reading!

One Page Horror: When the Earth Swallows the Good

A recent writers' gathering asked us to create a one page horror story. Horror means different things to different people. Ghouls and ghosts? Paranormal activity? Aliens? Sure, why not! For me, true horror was something completely different. Read on. -cjh

I struggled with the rating for this book. Was it a great read? Yes, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an engrossing thriller. So, why four and not five stars?

I felt like the author really had to crank the wheel to get this story to work.

Hi Rayne,

Thank you for reaching out. It's always great to have another friend!

The group is okay but, like anything, it's what you put into it that creates what you get out of it. I find that avoiding the cattle call of authors promoting their books is a better way to find readers.

Easier said than done!

Patricia Puddle Hi Connie, thanks for the friend's request. I love your profile. :)

I see you have marked one of my Kid's books to read. LOL. I hope you have a strong stomach. :) However, that book, and book 2 Rascals Sing at The Opera House are my true memories of being seven. Except I changed the venue and the endings to a happy ones. In real life I was banned from seeing my best friend, ever again. :)

Your books sound fabulous.
