Some Saintly Advice That Can Help You To Stop Worrying

Catholic speaker Gary Zimak appears each Wednesday on The Son Rise Morning Show on EWTN Radio with his series

Here’s the verse I discussed on The Son Rise Morning Show today on EWTN Radio:

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2)

One of the biggest sources of anxiety in our lives is worrying about earthly “things” (people, possessions, events, etc.). In this verse, Saint Paul reminds us of the importance of focusing on heavenly things. When we start thinking about the “things that are above”, we are reminded that this life (and it’s problems and difficulties) won’t last forever. When we ask the Lord for spiritual gifts (instead of only earthly ones), He gives us the grace to cope with the difficulties that are causing us to worry.

Today, let’s take St. Paul’s advice and concentrate on the “things that are above”. I have a feeling that we’re all going to be more peaceful as a result!

Are You Feeling Overwhelmed And Discouraged? You Need To Read These Words…

Catholic speaker and author Gary Zimak is available to speak at your parish or conference

Catholic speaker Gary Zimak offers advice from Saint Teresa of Avila for anyone feeling overwhelmed and discouraged

Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to working out? Are you worried about an uncertain future or overwhelmed with suffering? Do you just feel like giving up? Believe me, I know what you’re going through. Over the course of my life, I’ve had many days when I just felt like crawling back into bed and hiding from the world. The good news is that feelings are neither right or wrong. They are nothing more than emotions. What matters is what you do with those feelings.

Rather than give in to feelings of discouragement and hopelessness, try reading these amazing words from St. Teresa of Avila. They have helped me many times. Her words remind me that no matter how bad things “feel”, God loves me and is totally in charge. That doesn’t change, no matter how overwhelmed or discouraged I “feel”. He is greater than any problem or want we could ever have. As long as we have Him, we have all we could ever need.

Let nothing trouble you.

Let nothing frighten you.

Everything passes.

God never changes.

Patience obtains all.

Whoever has God wants for nothing.

God alone is enough.

Hang in there and read these words as many times as necessary. Then, turn to the Lord, tell Him just how much you’re struggling and ask Him to help you. I bet you’ll feel a little more peaceful. If the peace doesn’t last, keep asking Him for help. He loves it when we do that!

We’re going to have days when we feel good and days that we feel bad, but one thing remains constant…

God is ALWAYS there for us. That fact alone can make us feel a whole lot better!

Guess What God Wants Us To Do When We’re Anxious Or Worried?

Catholic Speaker and Author Gary Zimak appears each Wednesday on EWTN Radio's The Son Rise Morning Show with his series Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

Here’s the verse I shared on my weekly “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled” segment on EWTN Radio’s Son Rise Morning Show today…

Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7)

When we’re anxious or feeling like we’re not in control, we sometimes think that worrying is our only option. Not true! In this powerful verse, St. Peter reminds us to give our anxieties to the Lord because He cares about us. Wow! No matter what you’re going through today, make it a point to give it to the Lord. He doesn’t want you to be anxious. He wants you to turn to Him because He loves you.

Give it a try and see what happens!
