Lone Wolf (The Wolves of Wall Street) by Jay Ellison

Happy Easter, my lovelies! And do we ever have a gift from you! Newly hatched and ready to go!

The second book in Jay Ellison’s wildly popular The Wolves of Wall Street series is now available! You’ll meet Roman’s son William, and sink ever deeper into the passionate world of the east coast packs. Not yet familiar with our new series? No problem–the first book, Cry Wolf, is available for a very limited time for the special introductory price of $0.99 for those catching up. Find it at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Lone Wolf Title: Lone Wolf

Author: Jay Ellison

Series: The Wolves of Wall Street

About:

Caught between human passion and animal magnetism…

William Le Feuvre is a wolf without a pack. He’s chosen to live his life on the fringes of werewolf society, estranged from his father Roman, separated from his family, and at odds with his former pack mate, Errick–the only man who can bring the animal out in him. But when the local werewolf packs come under attack by a brutal and unstoppable force, William finds he has no choice but to align himself with his former pack if any of them wants to survive. But doing so means confronting the handsome, sexy and short-tempered Errick, now a powerful alpha in his own right–and the man William betrayed years earlier. Soon William finds himself walking a delicate line between the world of humans and monsters, dangerous passions and deadly secrets.

Excerpt:

As he pulled the Range Rover onto the white gravel of the drive, he saw the front door open and the eight remaining members of the pack emerge to greet him—Murphy, Millicent, Dylan, the twins Michael and Gabriel, Dylan and Errick—all led by their queen, Saada. It was nice to see his family after so long, but William felt his stomach tighten at the sight of the tall, blond Norseman standing slightly apart from the others, sniffing the air and watching, always on the alert. It was, after all, Errick’s responsibility to keep the pack safe.

William wondered what provisions Ash had left behind in his final instructions, if he had named Errick his successor. If he had—that would make Errick his new alpha. The thought made the snakes in his stomach tighten even more.

As he got out of the vehicle, a light snow started falling once more over the mountains. The members of the pack gathered around him, touching and hugging. Murphy was a short, sturdy man and professional cowboy, sun-bronzed from working the cattle. He was a mated pair with Millicent, and together they took care of the estate both inside and out. Along with William, Errick and Saada, Murphy was also a Pedigree, the rest having been made werewolves by various members of the pack. He hugged Murphy, kissed sweet Millie on the cheek, and Dylan immediately sprang into his arms and gave him her usual daughterly hug. But when he came upon Michael and Gabriel—Errick’s lovers—he shook their hands noncommittally but otherwise kept his distance. Mike and Gabe were the youngest, made by Errick only five years ago, and though model-handsome and seemingly eager to please, William didn’t really know them very well. Finally, he turned to Errick.

He was a head taller than William and he towered over everyone else in the pack, his muscular arms crossed in a defensive way over his thickly-muscled chest. His arms and legs were as thick as tree trunks, and long, thick, white-blond braids framed a square-jawed, severe face and ice-blue eyes. He was more striking than handsome, and for Errick it normally took no more than a glare to send a lesser werewolf running, though he knew how to fight, and fight well. His shoulders were broad and muscled, his body lean and strong. He wore a white, button-down shirt tucked into a pair of snug blue jeans, the sleeves rolled up to reveal his sinewy forearms and the multitude of primitive tribal tattoos that crawled down his forearms and over much of his body. The collar of the shirt was open just enough to show a spray of glistening blond hair. The antique torc he wore around his neck, set with a gleaming red tiger’s eye, sparked in the blinding, winter-white sunlight as he glared blankly down upon William.

Another you’ve disappointed, William thought bitterly.

Excerpt: Lone Wolf by Jay Ellison

As a thank you for the marvelous sales on Cry Wolf and to whet your appetite for our second book in the Wolves of Wall Street series, we bring you a sneak peek of the first chapter of Lone Wolf (The Wolves of Wall Street #2):

LONE WOLF (THE WOLVES OF WALL STREET #2)

by Jay Ellison

Chapter One

Chef William La Feuvre was putting the finishing touches on a Coq au vin, a French dish of chicken braised with Cognac, lardons, mushrooms and garlic, when he spotted Dylan Mackenzie from across the hot, bustling kitchen. She was standing in the bistro’s pantry, having snuck in the employees’ door, and was quietly observing the controlled chaos taking place in the kitchen of the La Bistro Moderne, the restaurant he and his business partner Nat owned, and one of the hottest French bistros in Chelsea. Sous chefs and pastry chefs, all under William’s rock-solid command, scurried by on one mission or another, and servers in smart uniforms banged in and out of the swinging doors to the crowded dining room beyond.

Dylan’s sudden appearance made William’s heart leap in his chest. As always, the sight of the pretty, petite girl sent him back to another time, another place. His workplace, co-workers, Nat—all of it quickly faded away around him. His chest swelled with pride at the amazingly graceful sight of her. My little girl all grown up…how beautiful she is!

And she was that—slender and leggy, dressed in a smart grey turtleneck with pearl buttons and a long twill skirt and ankle boots, her ribbons of dark, curling hair pinned up with just a few tendrils drifting around her sweet, mocha-colored, heart-shaped face with its lush, dark eyes, soft, full lips, and heavy black lashes.

“Will!” Nat sputtered from the dessert station, waving her arms wildly to catch William’s attention. She pointed at the pot in front of him.

Jerking back to the present, William looked down where he was pouring Cognac wildly, and without paying much attention, into his Dutch oven as well as over the surface of the counter and onto the linoleum floor. Cognac had even splashed down the trousers of his once-immaculate cook’s whites. “Bloody hell,” he said, setting the bottle down with a sigh. The chicken was burning out of control and Cognac surrounded him in a slippery, treacherous puddle. He made a low growl of displeasure in the back of his throat, which he thought—hoped—the other cooks couldn’t hear, and swiftly carried the flaming chicken to the sink to put out the fire.

Generally speaking, he was very good at his job as head chef at the bistro, a position he had worked hard to achieve, but everyone messed up sometimes. He could see Nat snickering from behind her hand as she put the finishing touches on a crème brulee with a hand torch. He shrugged a What can you do? response. He was a fairly easygoing chef; he could afford to make a fool of himself once in a while without his crew making fun of him or enjoying his display of idiocy.

While the relief cook busied himself with mopping up the mess he’d made, William untied his apron and hurried to join Dylan.

“Good job, Chef Boyardee!” Dylan grinned mischievously.

William shrugged, ruffled her hair, barely able to hold back a smile despite her ribbing. “Accidents happen, even to the elite.”

“You’re such a snob, William!”

The two embraced and Dylan gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Seeing Dylan, his adopted daughter, always lifted his spirits. She didn’t often visit him, but when she did, it brightened his whole day—his whole week, in fact. Dylan was a dedicated pack member of the Three Rivers Pack in northeast Pennsylvania, and William was what the others called a lone wolf. A wolf without a dedicated pack. It was not a lifestyle that most werewolves embraced, but he hadn’t had much choice in the matter. His father’s pack didn’t want him, even being a Pedigree, and his current pack was far too strict for his own liking. They enjoyed living “off the grid,” a lifestyle that William had never been able to get behind. Despite being a born werewolf, he liked the big city, the wild energy of the people around him. He liked feeling like an intricate cog in a much greater machine; it made him feel he was valuable, needed.

“What brings you out to the city?” he said.

Some of his coworkers looked on at their open display of affection, probably wondering why the pretty, sixteen-year-old African-American girl was hanging around his neck like her life depended on it, but he didn’t care about them. He didn’t care about the scandal they might be causing. Nat knew he had a child he had adopted, one that lived away at “school,” and it was only ever Nat’s opinion that he worried about.

“I wanted to see you,” Dylan told him, finally letting go, “take you to lunch.” Her voice was strained and not her own.

“Sounds bad,” he joked, setting her down. “What did you do? Or what did I do this time?” He smiled to show that he was kidding.

Dylan didn’t smile back. Her face was tense and serious, and for a brief moment her eyes shifted to wolf and back again. She glanced around to make certain the others in the kitchen were out of earshot. “It’s Ash, William,” she said in a soft lilt. “Our alpha is dead.”

Coming soon…

In the Hot Seat: Man and the Beast by J. Ashburn

Greetings, lovelies. Today we welcome a brand new voice in m/m erotica and we are super-excited to be hosting the first book in the Beast Within Trilogy by J. Ashburn! The author brings some amazing new twists to the m/m werewolf erotica subgenre and we hope you’ll check out the author’s debut posthaste! You know how much we at Courtesan Press love our werewolf manlove.

Man and the BeastAlec Ashcroft is afraid. Afraid of himself, the black outs, the hunger, and of what he might be capable of doing. See, Alec is a shifter, a wolf and he doesn’t know how to control his extraordinary power. Refusing to put his boyfriend Matt or his family at risk, Alec runs away from everything. He must protect others from his dark side and hopefully find the answers he’s been seeking all of his life.

The town of Redfern seemed the perfect escape, lots of forest land and animals to hunt, until Alec met Luca. Dark, seductive, sexy, Luca is like Alec and the scent of him drives Alec wild. He shows Alec how to control and use his power to his advantage and soon Luca exerts his allure over him. The two become entwined in a passionate and wild relationship with Luca even inviting him to join his pack high up in the mountains above town. Is this enigmatic new stranger to be trusted or is there something more sinister going on? All Alec wants to believe is that he’s finally found someone to calm the Beast Within.

Excerpt:

He started toward the water’s edge when he felt a presence and a new smell in the air. Something wild, feral, yet deeply sensual. He looked up at the deadfall and saw a man sitting on it, wearing a white button shirt, open to reveal a matching white tank underneath. Alec looked him up and down, following his black pants to his bare feet. He looked back up at the stranger with his dark raven hair.

The man gave him a boyish grin. “Looking for the other half of your soul?”

“Huh,” Alec croaked, it was the only thing he could think of. He was captivated by this man.

“Feels like you lost not only that but your mind,” the stranger continued. “Don’t worry, they’re both still there.”

“How did you know what I was thinking?”

“Because I know that look. I used to have it. The fear. Confusion. Guilt. All rolled together. You’re finally going through the awakening.”

“The what?”

“The awakening. That’s what we call it.”

“We?”

“Yes, people like us.

“Sorry, you must have me mistaken for someone else. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, but you do.” The stranger slid off the deadfall to stand in the midst of tangled tree roots in his bare feet.

Alec felt his heart speed up, thumping excitedly against his chest. His pulse throbbed in his wrists. He grew warm. There was an air around this man, a darkly handsome man with enigmatic eyes, ruddy skin with a five o’clock shadow on his face. God, it was sexy. Alec felt rooted to the spot, unable to pull himself away.

“You know what you are,” the man said. “Deep down, you know. You’re a shifter. A wolf. A human wolf, and the beast that lay dormant all of your life has finally woken up. You’re a natural born.”

“Listen, this is getting weird.”

“You’re a shifter man. A werewolf. You should start accepting it now.”

“Okay.” Alec put up his hands. “This is bullshit. There are no such things.” He turned to leave and felt a hand grip his shoulder. The stranger was standing behind him suddenly.

He leaned against Alec’s face, his lips against his ear, and whispered. “Do the dreams still come? Your lovers dead at your hands, torn, ripped to shreds? The blackouts at first, waking up naked, covered in blood?”

Alec stood stunned, speechless. The man’s touch sent shockwaves through his body. His blood boiled, sweat drooled down his temples. He instantly hardened, his dick threatening to burst through his shorts.

“I dreamed of you, Alec. We were meant to meet. Here. Now. I’m Luca.” With the uttering of his name, Luca ran both hands down Alec’s chest to his waist. He grabbed Alec’s hips and thrust himself against Alec’s ass.

On the Cry Wolf promotion

We found out today that there was a little confusion and anger with regards to the Cry Wolf promo on All Romance. According to the fine ladies at ARE, Cry Wolf was advertised as a hot promo deal in their newsletter, but some readers were dismayed to learn the price had gone back to retail before they had a chance to purchase the book.

We wanted to clarify that. The first Cry Wolf promo we hosted was a one-day holiday sale for St. Patrick’s Day, which we held on Monday. The way promotions work at ARE is you set the promotional discount, in this case 50%, and the time frame you want the promo to run. We set it for just over a day (Monday to Tuesday). That promotion ran out yesterday, Wednesday, but due to the great response we had, we decided to extend the promotional price for a few more days and reset the promo price in late morning. However, we were not aware that the fine ladies at ARE had placed the book in their promotional newsletter, so there was a brief crossover period of a few hours yesterday where the price was reset to retail. We have since set it back to promotion, and we plan to keep it there for a few more days.

I hope you can forgive the confusion and will take advantage of this great opportunity to immerse yourself in Jay Ellison’s work. Thank you all for your wonderful and continued support of books at Courtesan Press!
