Mythical Monday: Thought Forms and the Fae by Mae Clair

fantasy landscape in the nigthI recently finished a series of novels by C.S. Friedman called The Coldfire Trilogy/Saga. One of the most compelling things about the novels was a concept the author created for her imaginary planet, Erna.

In the books, Erna is rife with a power that can be manipulated and Worked by those who know how to tap into it. Adepts are born with this ability. Others, such as sorcerers, achieve limited use of it through study and apprenticeship. The fae is divided into categories such as earth fae, sol...

The Brothers of Rock with Karolyn James ~ Mae Clair

This week is Rock Romance Week…at least on my blog! London Casey was here on Tuesday to share about her New Adult contemporary rockstar romance, The Stronger, Safer Kind, and today I’m delighedt to welcome Karolyn James with the first novel in her BROTHERS OF ROCK series.

Who doesn’t like a good rockstar hero? When I was a teen, a guy who played a guitar and sang in a band was the equivalent of a modern knight. I was writing stories with rockstars well into my twenties, and I still love a rock...

The Idea Storm, by Mae Clair

Recently, I wasin my family room, comfy onthe couch and plugging away on my current WIPcourtesy ofmy laptop, when I realized something spectacular was happening outside. The weather had been unusually hot that day and, as often happens during spring and summer, pop-up thunderstorms rolled into the area. The counties to the south and west of me were under severe weather watches, but since my area wasn’t in the main thoroughfare of atmospheric upheaval, I hadn’t been paying much attention to th...

Rocking with London Casey and The Stronger, Safer Kind ~ Mae Clair

Electric guitar and the wallI’ve always had a love for music. Maybe it’s because music is ingrained in my familyroots. My grandfather played multiple instruments (guitar, banjo, piano, flute, clarinet, harmonica, and horn), and my brother has been a drummer in various rock bands since he was seventeen.

I dabbled briefly with bass guitar in high school (I had my own Rickenbacker bass and amp), and while it was fun for a time, I never had the drive to pursue it. Unlike writing, I didn’t feel the need to live and breathe it...

Celebrate Memorial Day, by Mae Clair

I’m taking a break from Mythical Monday today to celebrate the holiday. Although Memorial Day naturally inspires thoughts of plump hotdogs and juicy hamburgers on the grill and the fun of gathering with family, it’s primarily a time to reflect on those who have given their lives in the service of our country.

Stars and stripesOriginally called Decoration Day, the holiday was first observed on May 30, 1868 when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers in Arlington National Cemetery. O...

A Pen Pal Welcome to Christina Cole

bigstock-Stacks-of-old-letters-on-woode-43415203I’m pleased to have guest blogger Christina Cole here today. Christina and I connected after I read her novel, HAPPILY EVER AFTER. How can you resist a title like that? Well, I couldn’t, and I’m glad I didn’t. Immediately after reading it, I contacted Christina and invited her to guest on my blog. She has a new release coming up in August called SUMMERTIME, so the “timing” was perfect.

Please welcome author Christina Cole as she takes control of my pen for the day! :)

Cover Votes and Guest Blogging, by Mae Clair

Welcome to Wednesday! I have a couple of exciting things going on today that I’d like to share.

First, WEATHERING ROCK is a contender for the best book cover in You Gotta Read Review’s monthly book cover contest. Naturally, I’m partial to the gorgeous job Valerie Tibbs of Lyrical Press did for me and would love to see the cover rank up near the top. If you’d like to help with a vote, please go to You Gotta Read Review’s website, scroll to the middle of the page where you’ll see the selection b...

Wizards with Words: Jane Wakely and Christina’s Bear

bigstock-magic-book-9719930It’s an exciting Tuesday, when I can introduce a new Wizards with Words author. Jane Wakely has visited my blog before, but this is the first I’ve had an opportunity to interview her. She’s here today with her new paranormal/shifter romance, CHRISTINA’S BEAR. And you know how I love the paranormal/shifter stuff, right? Sit back and enjoy!

~ooOOoo~

Let’s start with what first attracted you to writing. When did you realize it was something you wanted to do?

When I look back, I can’t think of a tim...

Mythical Monday: The Ghosts of Time Revisited by Mae Clair

timeIn April, I wrote a Mythical Monday post called the Ghosts of Time, in which I included a long-standing legend in my family. If you didn’t read that post it involved a grandfather’s clock which belonged to my father.

While my dad was living, he always said that when he died as a way to communicate, he would stop the clock if it was running and start it if it was stopped. And yes, it did stop the first time the family was gathered together several months after his death. See my Ghosts of Time p...
