Fireball’s ACTION MOVIEBITS… Ben Affleck is Batman, Star Wars 7, Pirates 5 & Rambo
• WB has chosen a new Caped Crusader for Zack Snyder’s BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN. And that’s Officially Ben Affleck. Why? Well,… ’cause I’m too busy, duh. Releases July 17, 2015.
• STAR WARS EPISODE 7 will not be shot digitally, but on real film. Good, that means no Jar Jar Binks. Seriously.
• Pirates 5 is now called PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. So… there won’t be anyone in it, unfortunately.
• Sylvester Stallone is doing RAMBO again. This time for TV. Aren’t his weapons a bit too big for the small screen? Just curious.

HIGHLIGHTS! The World Class Automotive Film & Arts Festival was a HIT!
Congratulations to all who made this festival such a great success. BIG THANKS to Directors Cory Welles, Chris Szwedo, Harry Pallenberg, Paul Crowder, Ken Burns and Michael Brown. Also, Producers Jim Hancock and Robin Broidy and Screenwriter Mark Monroe… all for joining us and premiering their films. What a blessing to see such talent.
We look forward to some spectacular films coming to the next event!!
Today was a real Malibu ADVENTURE…
Ok, so the intention for today was simply to head out for lunch across the hill and see THE BUTLER. But alas… you won’t believe the adventure that ensued…
As we left Malibu and headed into Calabasas, we attempted to enter the 101 Fwy only to see it fully stopped. DEAD stopped. We were forced to back up off the on-ramp with about 10 other cars due to the mess and attempt an alternate route along side the fwy. But… that was a no go too, as everyone else was trying that. Why?
Turns out that there was what looked like a pipe bomb on the side of the freeway and the cops shut both north and south lanes down completely until they realized… it was just a pipe about 3 hours later. So…
No problem. We rolled with it. We headed back into Malibu for lunch @ John’s Garden. As we crossed through town, a Motorcyclist suddenly cut his corner too sharp and crashed in front of us. Face planted right on PCH. I called 911. He was fine after pretty much everyone showed up. Good for him. So… then we decided to stop by the beach for a dip. We dipped…
BUT, as we got out of the water, we looked south to see what looked like a FIRE breaking out near our house! Again,… I called 911.
Within 10 minutes… the cops raced, the fire engines blasted, the helicopters cruised in and the SUPER SCOOPERS scooped. KABLAMEEE!!!! Within 25 minutes, the fire was out and the emergency was over.
I decided to stay home the rest of the day and chill. I’ve had enough adventure for today, thank you very much.

MALIBU RAMBLINGS… Tom Shadyac & Cop Cars
Living in this town affords some unique experiences. And they happen daily and unexpected, thanks to the Universe doin’ its thang…
Yesterday, after goin’ to the gym, havin’ some awesome tacos and falling over for 20 minutes ’cause I was so dang tired… Kathie and I decided to treat ourselves to some ice cream and a walk on the beach. My life is either as a cool stormchaser or the calm before the storm. In this case, it’s the calm but we can see the storm in the distance… brewing.
Case in point, a Barnes and Noble Signing this weekend, Kathie’s Birthday trip to Chicago on the 1st and the upcoming slew of car shows. Not to mention that I pitched two TV shows the other day for Discovery. Such awesomeness… BUT, my point is back to the Bu.
Spotted the below INTERCEPTOR cruisin’ through Malibu revealing that cops are preferring the Explorer to the Sedan for Malibu Police Business. This is cool because it allows for more flexibility in areas where a sedan might be less advantageous. Like… chasing a bad guy into the hills, baby. Wrangle the sucka in, yo!!!
Also, had a great and inspired talk with Director Tom Shadyac briefly at Malibu Yogurt. His film I AM was a great journey, along with his others like ACE VENTURA and many more. Very talented and humble man. Looking forward to seeing him again.
TODAY? Off to see THE BUTLER in Agoura with Fireball Pop & The Bride after some Thai food. Who knows what coolness awaits.

• RELEASE DATES! CHAPPIE and Josh Trank’s THE FANTASTIC FOUR is March 6… Kenneth Branagh’s CINDERELLA is March 13.
Chappie tells the story of a robot imbued with artificial intelligence who is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. The film will star Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, with Ninja and Yolandi Visser, voices of the South African Zef counter-culture movement and members of rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, as the two gangsters.
• THOR: THE DARK WORLD is coming to Disneyland in Anaheim. An installation, not an invasion… duh.
• The new POMPEII Trailer finally looks like the real deal. It’s Gladiator, only really hot. Watch!
