BUT DID YOU KNOW?? The Seaview’s design was inspired by the anatomy and sleek lines of marine life, such as manta rays and porpoises. The submarine’s dark upper and white bottom areas resemble a dolphin or shark, and its curved wing-like nose area resembles a manta ray. It was designed by production designer Jack Martin Smith and the Fox Concept Art Department. The models were originally sculpted in wood and plaster, then cast primarily in fiberglass!

VEGAS, Truckster, Kustoms, McDonalds, Viper & Purple Hair!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Today… we head to VEGAS… baby, for some super cool Dan Tanna T-BIRD MASTERPRINT ART that screams… “I park my car IN MY LIVING ROOM!” Yup. Only in Sin City.

BUT DID YOU KNOW?? The ’57 T-Bird replaced a 1967 yellow Chevrolet Corvette that was Tanna’s car in the pilot episode. A car which ended up being destroyed by fire! Wups. Much of the series was filmed at Culver Studios in California, where a set was constructed to represent the Montecito. But some filming also (occasionally) took place in Las Vegas. The Mandalay Bay and Green Valley Ranch (two hotel-casinos in the Las Vegas Valley) were sometimes used to portray the Montecito. DING! WINNA…

TURTLE VAN, Herman Mugshot, Cops, Tron, Pinups & TATER DOG!

DID YOU KNOW?? Herman was 150 years old… One of his eyes was blue and the other chartreuse, but who could tell since the show was shot in black and white!! Gwynne was 6’5″, but his character was listed as 7’6″ on his driver’s license! (Gwynne’s size 26 C boots added at least four inches to his height.) Herman worked at the Gateman, Goodbury, and Graves Funeral Home, which he called “The Parlor,” but in REAL LIFE, Gwynne was an author and illustrator of children’s books, including “A Chocolate Moose for Dinner, The King Who Rained, and A Little Pigeon Toad!”

TJ HOOKER, Heather Locklear, Big Bus, Camaro & Pinup!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Today, we get our Cool Cop Digs on with a Fireball TJ HOOKER MASTERPRINT! Plus, a stunning shot of everyone’s favorite blonde badass HEATHER LOCKLEAR… in full uniform. Please… TAKE… US… AWAY.

DID YOU KNOW?? In 1982, Locklear joined the second season of William Shatner’s T.J. Hooker as Officer Stacy Sheridan. From 1982 to T.J. Hooker’s cancellation in 1986, Locklear filmed the shows simultaneously, traveling from set to set during the day. “They’d drive me,” said Locklear. The season four episode “Hollywood Starr” was meant to launch another series of the same name, this time a spinoff with Sharon Stone as vice cop Dani Starr. A sort of Sunset Strip answer to Sonny Crockett in high heels and big hair. Jonathan “The Most Interesting Man in the World” Goldsmith also appeared in the backdoor pilot. Alas, the show was not picked up for series. Bummer… ‘casue we woulda committed.

DID YOU KNOW?? The Thunderbirds Tracy Brothers were named after the Mercury 7 Astronauts! The show takes place in the year 2065 according to creator Gerry Anderson, and it was the only Supermarionation series with an hour-long format. The show’s sets and props were often deliberately “dirtied up” to look more realistic long before STAR WARS; with the five brothers being Scott (after Scott Carpenter), Virgil (after Gus Grissom), John (after John Glenn), Gordon (after Gordon Cooper), and Alan (after Alan Shepard).

THE SAINT, Cylons, Kustoms, Pinup, Man from UNCLE & WIENERS

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Happy Saturday and let’s rev up with this great Fireball Masterprint of THE SAINT!! Super cool 1962 Volvo P1800 that went down in AutoPop History as the Saint’s trusty steed…

BUT DID YOU KNOW?? The white Volvo with the license plate ST1 was a regular feature in the show, appearing in many episodes. The car helped increase Volvo’s popularity and sales, but Roger Moore actually bought his own white P1800 and was seen driving it both on and off screen! The P1800’s design was created by Pelle Petterson under the guidance of Pietro Frua, and had a mix of Italian and American influences. A mock-up of the car’s interior was created for interior shots and in one episode, was used to represent the inside of an Aston Martin DB5! Although the car was filmed in France, Germany, and the Bahamas, it didn’t actually never left British shores. Clever editing was used to link scenes of real locations to studio shots. Ahhh, movie magic.

PAUL WALKER TRIBUTE GTR, Kustoms, Swat, Pinup & Tijuana COPS

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Finally out!! An amazing PAUL WALKER Tribute with Fireball’s all-new NISSAN GTR GODZILLA MASTERPRINT ART from FAST & FURIOUS! This was Paul’s signature car in the films and what he was most known for… but there’ll be a lot more F&F coming! HIT IT to the Garage NOW!

DID YOU KNOW?? The R34 GT-R driven by Paul Walker in Fast & Furious 4 was sold at a Bonhams auction in April 2023 for $1,357,000. (This Masterprint is a LOT cheaper…!) The car has a carbon-fiber hood and rear wing and a carbon fiber strut tower brace. The rear reproduces the logo of Reach Out Worldwide, a charity that Paul Walker established to help people affected by natural disasters.

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Let’s start off with a super cool STARSKY FORD TORINO MASTERPRINT, but oh… there’s more. What was your favorite GenX TV Show? LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW!

DID YOU KNOW?? The car was nicknamed the “Striped Tomato” by David Soul (who played Hutch) after he first saw it with Paul Michael Glaser. The show’s writers later incorporated the nickname into the show. The white stripe on the side of the car changed shape throughout the show, becoming rounder over time. The red color used for the TV car was discontinued, but was brought back for the special edition. Ford painted each car white first, then masked off the stripe and sprayed the rest of the car red! Wait, what??
