ELVIS HOT ROD, Flintstones, Kustoms, Wolfman & NEW YOUTUBE
Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Happy Friday, folks… and let’s get ‘er blastin! Off the line, we’ve got a QUESTION? In the 60’s, Fireball Pop hired George Barris to build this one-off Kustom Hot Rod for the ELVIS film, “EASY COME, EASY GO,”… which he wrote. Later, the car was used on the TV Show BATMAN as the JOKERMOBILE. Should Fireball SKETCH THIS UP? LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW or make a SUGGESTION for something you’d like to see!
DID YOU KNOW?? “Easy Come, Easy Go” was Elvis’s final film with Paramount Pictures and his last one with Hal Wallis, which was followed by PARADISE, HAWAIIAN STYLE & ROUSTABOUT which Fireball Pop also wrote! But Elvis was no longer as interested in his film career and the music soundtracks he had to record for Paramount. He just wanted to sing Well, I guess that “Easy Come, Easy Go” was an appropriate title!

THE WOLFMAN Movie comes out today and he needs a COOL CAR! So, Fireball whipsnapped a fuzzy rocket-powered MUSCLE. And lastly, an actual large stunning GOUACHE piece of the JAGUAR XJS.

It was made of metal and fiberglass and painted a glossy aluminum color… and is now owned by illusionist David Copperfield!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY!! Launchin’ outta Florida today with a Behind the Scenes Shot of Sonny Crocket and Fireball’s MIAMI VICE TESTAROSSA MASTERPRINT! Yes, the Ferrari Daytona is coming too!
BUT DID YOU KNOW?? Miami Vice used a lot of 1980s pop and rock hits, as well as synthesized music by Jan Hammer. The show spent a ton of money on the rights to original recordings! The first season received 15 Emmy nominations and was the most of any show that year. It won four Emmys, including one for supporting actor Edward James Olmos. The show had a big impact on the city of Miami, boosting tourism and revitalizing South Beach and sales of the Wellcraft SCARAB 38′ KV increased 21% after the boat was featured in the show!!

DID YOU KNOW?? The original plan was for RoboCop to drive a futuristic police car called the Robo-Mobile or the Turbo-Car, but it was deemed too ridiculous. Yea, we’d have to agree with that one. But Ford was not involved in the production of the first RoboCop movie and was upset that its Ford Taurus’ were used in such a violent film. But now… I think they’re ok with it. Silly Ford doods…

DR. FRANKENSTEIN, Duel, Tons of Art, AutoPOP & BEST OF SHOW!
Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Tons of cool ART today, starting with Fireball’s DR. FRANKENSTEIN CORVETTE from DEATH RACE 2000! A Classic Killer that needs a REAL UPDATED VERSION and bring Stallone back!!
DID YOU KNOW? The production could not afford large numbers of extras to play the bystanders, so the scenes were shot after an actual racing event. Due to the film’s low-budget, many scenes were shot on public roadways. David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone performed most of their own driving stunts also! Producer Roger Corman also drove in some scenes shot on public streets because the custom-built cars were not street legal, duh. The movie had a budget of $300,000 and earned $8 million at the US box office!! CHA-CHING!!

Good Sunday Morning and Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! DID YOU KNOW?? The name Cruella comes from the English words “evil” and “cruel.” Actress Mary Wickes was the live-action model for Cruella and she also voiced Laverne in The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Marc Davis (seen here) animated Cruella in the 1961 animated classic. Davis was concerned that the character was too cartoonish, but came around. And Cruella’s messy hair was inspired by 1940s and 1960s hairstyles. Pachow!

DID YOU KNOW?? Falk’s glass eye in place of his right eye (which he lost to cancer at age three) is the reason for his signature squint. Falk almost got fired for missing his mark on set, so he started incorporating looking down to see the glass eye as one of Columbo’s mannerisms. He was given the freedom to improvise lines, gestures, and mannerisms, which helped develop Columbo’s character. Falk’s own 25-year-old raincoat was used for Columbo’s iconic raincoat and Steven Spielberg directed the first episode!!

DID YOU KNOW?? The Corvette used in the movie was a 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that was converted to right-hand drive. The car was painted candy apple red with metal flake and flames. It also had a clam-shell hood, Superior mags, Gabriel shocks, and Mercury tubes. Years later, the hero car was found wrecked in a junkyard by producer Matthew Robbins!

Ray Austin secretly taught her Kung Fu, even though the producers wanted her to stick to Judo and Karate!

On their holster belts, behind the holster, you’ll see the officers wearing a rectangular pouch. This is not a part of CHP/Law Enforcement items. This case actually housed the battery for the wireless microphones the actors wore!
