occupants safely locked inside. She added hay to their boxes and
gathered the eggs in her apron before shutting the door behind her.
While outside was cold and the wind blew in biting gusts, the inside
of the barn was warm from the animal heat. She stood in front of one
of the horse stalls, gently stroking the muzzle of the big bay
