Spring is Near

It seems to me that spring is near,

although the wind is cold.

The daffodils appear in clusters,

blooming cream and gold.

The sky is often filled with clouds;

the snow, it too may come,

but nonetheless, I see the signs;

spring will soon be home.

The black iron stove is almost constantly filled with a steady flame; it warms the room. Baske...

SS Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving. A day dedicated to giving thanks. It reminded me of how much I take for granted. Stopping to look around, take in the blessings, the sight of friends and families, the warm feeling of love, the golden hues of trees expressing their divine design, and the tastes and scenes of autumn caused a great sense of gratitude to take over my emotions. Gratitude for breath and life and beauty all around us.

It was the best meal any of us have had all year. That is saying quite a bit, as we g...

The Civil War has left behind a path of sorrow. Kate Austin has blossomed into a true beauty like a new rose in spring, but thewar has created loss in every corner of her small world. The smile that those around her were once accustomed to has vanished, and all attempts to uncover it fall short. She continues to reach out to others with comfort and service, but no one can seem to reach the places in her heart that are so tethered to the painful past. What can bring...
