Perhaps it was being seven years old and sitting at the kitchen table in Dover, NJ, being made to spell my list forwards and backwards that lead me to a fascination with words. Or was it being an only child for nine and a half years, making up dramatic scenarios with diverse characters, languages and voices? An avid reader, the library was my safe haven where I scooped up five or six books each week in summer from early school days. Putting stories on paper seldom occurred to me. By high school, I struggled at the notion. My high school science teacher pushed me into a horrible, 19th century valedictory that I could now produce more true to the era.

At Occidental College, my first Blue Book was barely a page and a half; I wasn't proud of th

Remember the bogs of Ireland or those on the moors of England in old romance novels? The one where the heroine comes to the lonesome manor to be a governess, nurse or maid only to fall for the moody master, his neighbor or maybe the groundsman. She’s lost in the mire of boggish emotions until HE comes to her rescue.

Well, I don’t see HIM rescuing this writer from her blogger’s mind-bog. If you noti

Arletta Dawdy Hi Beth,
I am very much looking forward to reading your work and hope to meet you at the WWW conference in Oct.

Beth Hi Arletta,
Thanks for sending a Goodreads friend request to this mystery author!

Arletta Dawdy Thanks, Leslee.
I just got The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker and am looking forward to digging into it.

Two books of the western scene that I highly recommend are Janet Grace Riehl's "Sightlines," both audio and print. It is a multigenerational collection of poetry dealing with tragic family losses.
The second book is by Janet's father, Erwin Thompson,
"Cattle Country and Back Country." All are available at Amazon or your local Indie.

Leslee Breene Arletta,

I'd highly recommend "The Magic of Ordinary Days" by Ann Howard Creel. This gentle but powerful story was a 2007 Hallmark Hall of Fame made-for-TV film.
