I am a native Connecticuter, but have lived in Southern California for over 20 years. It's December as I write this and I'm wearing a heavy sweater, a scarf, and the heat is on. My East Coast relatives would unabashedly laugh in my face.

I arrived on this coast when I was in my late 20s. While I was striving, agonizing, stalled, procrastinating, and trying really, really hard to finish my first manuscript, I was also...

1) taking reservations and seating "people" at the Ivy Restaurant in Beverly Hills, trying not to drool or get the vapors when David Bowie came in for Sunday brunch with Iman.
2) heading to Africa to travel with a broken-hearted friend. We returned with a container of Zimbabwean Shona sculpture and proceeded to put on exhibits

Horribly disappointing. The weakest of the Krewe books in my opinion. Information repeated ad nauseum, stilted dialogue, irrelevant dialogue, no spark between Dallas and Kristi, no action (body found) until page 240. Incredibly boring. Good location, ...more
