Love, Shelter, and the Power of Kindness
I host the Matters of Faith Podcast on Project Entertainment Network. The show has guests on some episodes and I just let them tell their stories. We have gotten so many questions in that we often just take an episode to run through the answers.
This morning Shelly Rosamalia is the guest on an episode recorded live from the Scares That Care Charity Weekend Convention. She talks about how her faith translates into acts of kindness including taking people in need into her home. Love and faith come together for her in acts of kindness and she points out that acts of kindness require one to actually act.
Off the air, she said that a young man she took in for a number of years recalled her saying something she did not recall herself. "If I told you that I loved you, but I left you in the park that day, would you have believed me?"
Check out the video introducing this episode.

Live Your Life Like You Are on Steroids
The advice they give you medically as you adjust to steroids is actually pretty good advice for life. The way we take care of our health, maintain our emotions and fight to get or stay well all apply to us even if you are not hopped up on them the way I am for transplant.
Check out the video where I discuss how this has applied to me and my adjustments. See if it might help you too.

Dealing with diet, life, and recovery
Struggling with weight as I try to adjust to new meds and the challenges of coming back from kidney rejection. I'm having to add in new foods to put back nutrients the meds are pulling off which cause me to cramp up at night. I have to eat a lot of protein to avoid muscle deterioration. All this while trying to control portions when the meds give me an unending appetite.
All of this is part of life and recovery for me. I discuss this in the video linked below.

When will he be okay again?
The younger of my two sons asked a heartbreaking question as we talked about keeping the house clean because of my immuno-suppression. "When will he be okay again?"
Transplant meds are forever. And with the recent rejection episode, I have to be even more vigilant than before. This is forever.
We explained the situation as best we could, but it reminds me that we never get to suffer alone. We never own our own struggles in full. There are always others who hurt with us and they hurt more, if we try to keep them out.
Check out the video about the discussion with my son. On the YouTube description of the video is a link to a blog where I tried to tackle some of these changes before transplant.

One Mile at a Time
As I face kidney rejection from my new transplant and fight my way back from it, there are a lot of hard miles between me and victory. I can't face all those miles at once. I can only face this mile - the next mile. I put that one behind me and face the next. All one mile at a time.
This video was recorded during the final mile of a ten mile bike ride.

Finding Balance with Kidney Rejection
I'm back from Scares That Care convention and I'm looking at finding balance with writing, life, family, and fighting kidney rejection from my recent transplant.
I recorded a few thoughts on the subject today.
