Return to the Office: Trends and Tips to Make You a Success
While it should come as no surprise, people are returning to the workplace in droves, many of which through corporate mandates. Many news pieces have already covered this trend. In this piece, let’s take a closer look at the impact of returning to work on women and their specific challenges in returning to the office.
Women are finally returning to work in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. During the pandemic, women left the workplace in massive numbers. Now, three years later, the number of women in the workforce has exceeded the pre-pandemic, February 2020 number of 77.6 million. The Labor force participation has also almost made it back to the pre-pandemic level. This is due primarily to businesses and industries reopening, improved public health conditions and outlook, and more reliable schooling options.
Not all Return to the Office Situations are Created EqualMany employers are quickly coming to terms that once Pandora’s box of remote work has been opened, many workers are not willing to return to the office all of the time. That is why many companies are allowing employees to work from home. While hybrid work schedules may vary, it has been observed in the marketplace that this typically equates to two to three days a week. This flexibility is beneficial to a better work-life balance for workers, not to mention more flexibility to get errands done.
Not everyone has the discipline or room at home to work remotely properly. The office allows some structure and discipline to keep people on task. It is great to see people in person and get to know them in a different way that Zoom and email typically do not foster effectively.
At the end of the day, it comes down to the individual workers as to what style and function of work that they are most productive at. Wise employers will recognize this and allow workers to choose. It shouldn’t be surprising that some will move on to new jobs if this isn’t the case.
That said, it appears that employees no longer have the upper hand regarding bargaining chips. With a down economy, many layoffs, and rising inflation, many employers may view such requests with hesitation. We will have to see how the economy either improves or gets worse in order to see how the remote and hybrid work trends end up playing out.
What are Some of the Barriers to Returning to the Office for Workers?While women are making their way back into the workforce, it is not without some significant barriers to their return to the office. Several factors contribute to the potential success many have when facing the returning-to-work mandates of their employers. Let’s explore several of these work trends below in greater detail.
The Ageism Problem: By the NumbersLet’s explore several quantifiable data-based trends. Studies show that 61% of workers in the United States over the age of 45 report witnessing or experiencing ageism. Older women are far more likely to be fired or let go by their employers. They receive more employment rejections, have less than half the callback rate of younger women, and report facing ageism a minimum of five years earlier than men.
Many Women are the Primary Caregivers of the FamilyWomen also have to do caregiving work at far higher rates than men, with extreme economic costs attached. 32% of women feel they must be home sometimes to care for family, and the number of childcare workers have, has dropped significantly since the pandemic.
Women are Under an Uneven Amount of Pressure to Look Their BestIn addition to some already considerable hurdles, as we have already discussed, there is major pressure in most industries for women to put significant time, money, and resources into maintaining a beauty standard. This is often unreasonable set by society and maybe a standard they have aged out of. This affects women’s self-confidence greatly and can even create a deterrent to returning to the office. Women are twice as likely as men to feel pressure about dying their hair for work, and 44% of women report feeling negatively when not wearing makeup.
Procedures to Help With Physical AppearanceWomen are increasingly getting plastic surgery, such as the mommy makeover to combat some beauty standards. One in four women are reportedly considering cosmetic procedures of some sort. For postpartum women, they may even be aiming to change their postpartum bodies quickly. Some of the most common procedures women are typically considering are liposuction, breast augmentation, and tummy tucks.
Hybrid Work Provides More FlexibilityAnother way that women support their return to the office is by finding hybrid and flexible roles that allow more women to find employment and decrease the bias women experience. This also enables women who do caregiving work to find employment that works with that. In some situations, this can also help avoid some beauty standards altogether.
Finding a Mentor for Your Professional DevelopmentLastly, one of the best ways women can help themselves as they return to work is by finding professional mentorship. Talent development programs help place employees into positions of success for them and the company. This is done by identifying the employees aptitude and coaching them through developing their skills to reach their goals as well as the goals of the company. These programs have been shown to dramatically improve self-esteem, promote livelihood, and increase confidence.
Bringing it all togetherIn conclusion, it will take some practice for people to get used to their old routines when it comes to returning to the physical workplace. What’s new in Google’s updated wearable?
After just a year on the market, Google has announced a full-on follow up to the Pixel Watch, and there’s a few upgrades you should know about.
The Pixel Watch didn’t exactly have the smoothest launch. After being nothing more than a collection of rumours over several years, the device finally dropped in October of 2022 and was unfortunately let down by a lacklustre battery life that sold the device short in achieving its lofty goals of competing with the Apple Watch.
Still, there was a lot to like about the Pixel Watch, particularly in its OS and design, and now that the curtain has been pulled back on the Pixel Watch 2, here’s hoping that Google can actually deliver on its promises this time around.
If you’re considering doing away with your old Pixel Watch and upgrading to its successor, then here are the five things you need to know.
Pixel Watch 2 is running Wear OS 4Even though the next generation of Google’s Wear OS software was announced way back at the start of the year, it has yet to make any sort of appearance on the original Pixel Watch. This is particularly bizarre as it’s been made available for the Galaxy Watches 4, 5 and 6, but there’s no word yet on a potential deployment date for Google’s wearable.
By comparison, the Pixel Watch 2 will pack Wear OS 4 right out of the box, granting it access to upgraded versions of key Google apps like Gmail and Google Calendar. For this reason alone, it seems as though the Pixel Watch 2 will be more future-proof than its predecessor.
There’s a much needed battery bumpAt a glance, it may seem as though the Pixel Watch and the Pixel Watch 2 have the same quoted battery life of up to 24-hours, but in the case of the latter, this is now achievable with the always-on display toggled. That’s great news for anyone who wants the proper always-on experience, but it should mean that the battery can go even further if the always-on display is switched off.
Google also claims that the charging is now faster than before, nabbing you a full battery from 0% in 75 minutes which, if that proves true, is just slightly less than the 80-minute charge time we tracked for the original Pixel Watch.
Two new sensors under the hoodTemperature sensors are the hot new thing in wearables at the moment, as they’ve been added to recent Galaxy Watch and Apple Watch devices, alongside the new Withings ScanWatch 2. Not wanting to be outdone, Google’s added the same sensor to the Pixel 2 which should allow for more precise menstrual cycle tracking and stress monitoring throughout the day.
There’s also an upgraded multi-path heart rate sensor to provide more accurate HRM results during a workout. Of course, we won’t know exactly how much more accurate the sensor is until we test it, but it does point towards the Pixel Watch 2 working well as a fitness tracker, particularly with Fitbit on board.
Essential safety featuresEasily one of the most useful features to be added to the Pixel Watch 2. Google’s Safety Check app lets you set a time for when you anticipate arriving at your destination, and if you don’t switch off the alert when that time of day comes, then your emergency contacts will be pinged your location.
There’s even an adjacent feature called Safety Signal that lets you utilise the Pixel Watch 2’s safety features without having your smartphone nearby. The only downside is that this feature is locked to Fitbit Premium subscribers, but it’s intriguing nonetheless.
There’s a slight price increaseAs is fast becoming the norm with almost any new smartwatches released over the last year, the Pixel Watch 2 is also dropping with an increased RRP. Luckily, it’s not a huge increase (the one being afforded to the Pixel 8 is far more staggering), as the Pixel Watch 2 starts at £349.
That’s a £20 increase over the £329 launch price of the original Pixel Watch, which again isn’t a huge uptick but it’s still worth knowing about if you are looking to upgrade on day one.

BREAKING: Biden’s Dog ‘Commander’ Removed From White House Following Multiple Biting Incidents | The Gateway Pundit
As we reported earlier today, Joe Biden’s dog ‘Commander’ was just involved in another biting incident.
The dog has apparently just been removed from the White House.
Hopefully, Commander will be placed with someone who can handle him and give him the attention he obviously needs.

President Biden’s dog, Commander, has been removed from the White House campus, amid multiple biting incidents.
“The President and First Lady care deeply about the safety of those who work at the White House and those who protect them every day,” Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for the First Lady Jill Biden told Fox News.
“They remain grateful for the patience and support of the U.S. Secret Service and all involved, as they continue to work through solutions,” Alexander added. “Commander is not presently on the White House campus while next steps are evaluated.”
Most recently, Commander bit a Secret Service agent on White House grounds last month.
This incident marks the 11th known incident of Commander biting White House or Secret Service personnel. Conservative legal activist group Judicial Watch previously obtained reports of the 10 previous incidents of Commander terrorizing staff from October 2022 through January 2023.
This is the fault of the Bidens, not the dog.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul Puts Illegals Ahead of Citizens AGAIN-Announces 18,000 Jobs Available to Asylum Seekers | The Gateway Pundit
Despite having a few fleeting moments as an immigration hawk while her state is overrun with illegals, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has once again showed her pattern of putting illegals ahead of American citizens.

She welcomed them with open arms, quoting the welcoming message from the Statue of Liberty touting the state’s sanctuary status.

Last month, in an appearance on CNN, Hochul told migrants to go “somewhere else” besides New York, “They’re literally from around the world. West Africa, South and Central America — they’re coming from all over. But we have to let the word out that when you come to New York, we’re not going to have more hotel rooms. We don’t have capacity. So we have to also message properly that we’re at our limit. If you’re going to leave your country, go somewhere else.”
But now the Governor is proudly announcing that the New York State Department of Labor is working with nearly 400 employers across the state to identify opportunities to help asylum seekers and migrants, who have obtained work authorizations, find employment.
The Governor launched a public awareness campaign to spread the news and fill a “critical role” across the state. The digital flyer announcing the program can be seen here.
The flyer states, “Are you a business owner looking for workers? New York State is here to help.”
That’s right New Yorkers, your state will help illegals….you are on your own with rampant crime, rising taxes and a fleeing population.
Governor Hochul recently directed the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) to help connect asylum seekers to employment opportunities so they can begin working immediately after obtaining federal work authorization. All asylum seekers with work authorization in New York can now register for assistance. DOL’s career experts are working with individuals to assess skills, work history, education, career interests and more, and connect them with employers across the State.
To help balance the equation, DOL has also launched a portal that enables businesses to inform the State that they would welcome newly-authorized individuals into their workforce. This provides a pool of employers with job opportunities for DOL’s career experts to pull from so they can work to align the skills that asylum seekers have with the current needs of employers.
Hochul said at a press conference, “We have to manage the fact that there’s 125,000 people right now, up until tomorrow, have not been eligible to work, and have relied on public support for housing. That is not a sustainable dynamic. It is just not sustainable in the long term. But we’ve dealt with it. So, I’m going to call on businesses to sign up even more.”
House GOP Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., said in a statement to Fox News, “Not even 24 hours after conceding that the border crisis is a national security crisis, Governor Kathy Hochul is back to incentivizing illegal immigration, announcing 18,000 jobs for those who entered the United States illegally, including hundreds of jobs across Upstate New York and the North Country.”
Adding, “While New Yorkers are demanding border security, Hochul is worsening the crisis with her failed ‘Sanctuary State’ policies. Enough is enough. If Hochul is serious about ending our illegal immigration crisis, she would demand Chuck Schumer pass and Joe Biden sign into law the Secure the Border Act, which is the strongest border security bill in history.”

Fortnite Creative embraces IARC age ratings
Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, is integrating the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) age ratings into its Creative mode to ensure age-appropriate standards for user-generated content.
Fortnite has evolved beyond just gaming. It now serves as a platform for various digital experiences, including virtual concerts and events. As gaming and digital interactions intertwine, the need for clear content guidelines grows.
Fortnite’s Creative mode lets players design, share, and play in custom game modes and maps. With vast user-generated content, age-appropriate ratings become essential. By adopting IARC ratings, Fortnite seeks to clarify content for players and guide creators on content suitability.
The IARC offers a unified approach to age and content ratings for digital games and apps. Founded by global authorities, including North America’s ESRB and Europe’s PEGI, the organization aligns digital content with different countries’ cultural and legal norms, primarily safeguarding consumers from unsuitable content.
Implications for creators and playersEpic Games outlined a timeline for introducing these ratings. From Oct. 16, developers can access the IARC questionnaire in the Creator Portal to evaluate content based on criteria like violence and language. By Nov. 14, every piece of first and third-party content in Fortnite Creative needs an IARC rating to maintain user consistency.
While this development introduces an added layer of responsibility for content creators, it’s a step forward in ensuring a safer and more transparent gaming environment. Over the upcoming months, creators will be tasked with rating both their existing content and any new additions they develop.

Rep. Patrick McHenry (NC) was appointed as Acting Speaker after McCarthy was ousted.
McCarthy chose McHenry as Speaker Pro Tempore earlier this year and he now has all the powers of a House Speaker.

Pelosi lashed out at McHenry and said his ruthless move to evict her from her hideaway office is “a sharp departure from tradition.”
The best part about this ruthless move by McHenry is that Pelosi isn’t even in Washington DC right now. She is in California attending the late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s funeral.
“Sadly, because I am in California to mourn the loss of and pay tribute to my dear friend Dianne Feinstein, I am unable to retrieve my belongings at this time,” she said.

As one of his first acts as the acting speaker, Rep. Patrick McHenry ordered former Speaker Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol hideaway office by Wednesday, according to an email sent to her office viewed by POLITICO.
“Please vacate the space tomorrow, the room will be re-keyed,” wrote a top aide on the Republican-controlled House Administration Committee. The room was being reassigned by the acting speaker “for speaker office use,” the email said.
McHenry, a close McCarthy ally, was first on his list to become acting speaker after the Californian was booted in a Tuesday afternoon vote.
Only a select few House lawmakers get hideaway offices in the Capitol, compared to their commonplace presence in the Senate.

WAYNE ROOT: Trump for House Speaker- Again? Whether He Wants It, or Not, Here’s the Idea That Exposes All the RINOS and Changes Congress Forever! | The Gateway Pundit

First of all, remember me? I’m the first guy in America (back in January 2021) to recommend President Trump as the next GOP House Speaker, if the GOP won the 2022 midterms. I was 100% right.
I wish Trump would have listened.
I started the ball rolling. After I wrote that column…and announced it on my national radio and TV shows…Steve Bannon mentioned it in a speech two weeks later. Next, the media started talking about it. Soon the whole world was discussing and debating my idea.
President Trump is a regular guest on my TV and radio shows. Several times on my “Real America’s Voice” TV show in 2021 and 2022 I urged him, face to face, to run for House Speaker. It just wasn’t his cup of tea.
I also urged Trump to dump Kevin McCarthy. He wouldn’t do it. I told President Trump that McCarthy is a DC Swamp rat and backstabber. Trump said, “So is everyone else in DC.” Good point.
What’s the saying? “If you want a friend in DC…get a dog!”
Nonetheless, I had one heck of an idea. Trump should have been the House Speaker for the past year. He is the man to unite the GOP. He is the man to lead the impeachment of Biden. And to lead the fight against open borders. And to stop the corrupt funding for the Ukraine war. Why are we fighting the invasion of their border, when we are doing nothing about the invasion of our border?
Most importantly, I trust no House Speaker to actually support Trump for President in 2024. House Speaker Trump is the only one I trust to support Presidential candidate Trump.
Never forget McCarthy and McConnell actively funded and supported all the RINO candidates and backstabbed all the MAGA candidates in the 2022 midterms. They actively worked against our pro-Trump, America-First candidates. You know what you call that? TRAITOR.
So, good riddance to McCarthy. Don’t let the door hit you in the a–s on the way out. Get lost. You’re finished. Adios. In the words of Trump, “YOU’RE FIRED!”
Bravo and congratulations to Congressman Matt Gaetz.
But I have another brainstorm…
I’d like to propose Trump as House Speaker- again.
Boy, would that move make liberal and RINO heads explode. Boy, would the media go insane. Trump would be once again the center of attention of the entire world. And add another notch to his belt. They’d call it, “the greatest comeback ever.” And then after it leads to his re-election as President in 2024, he could step down as Speaker to take over the Presidency.
But alas, I know it’s just a dream. We all know Trump is busy fending off Gestapo-like government attacks; nonstop court cases; and of course, his presidential campaign. We all know he doesn’t want to be Speaker. But that’s okay. Because here’s my best idea EVER…
Whether he wants it, or not, lets hold an official on-the-record vote for Donald J. Trump as House Speaker.
Why is this important? Because this is how we expose every RINO backstabbing loser in the House and defeat them all in 2024.
Think about the beauty of this idea. Trump needs to be nominated for House Speaker, and we hold the official vote. Whether he wants it, or not. Put every GOP Congressman officially on-the-record.
Let’s see who votes for Trump, and against.
Use this vote to flush out the RINOS, “Never Trumpers,” backstabbers and traitors who stand in the way of our MAGA and America-First agenda. Then primary them all!
Trump getting elected as President in 2024 is only a partial victory…a great start. But without a Trump-like, MAGA, America-First House majority, we can’t “fundamentally change America.” We can’t turn this terrible economy around. We can’t save the middle class. We can’t make America great again- again.
We need a truly conservative MAGA, America-First GOP House majority. This is how we make it happen. This is how we “out” the posers, pretenders and sell-outs. We make them show their true colors.
If they vote against Trump, we primary them and end their careers. We get not only President Trump, but a whole Congress of Trumps to support him.
But if by chance, GOP Congressmen and women are forced by my idea to all vote for Trump (in order to protect their careers), well then Trump is the new House Speaker. If he wants it.
Think of what Trump could do as Speaker? Stop any increase in the debt ceiling. Defund the DOJ, FBI, CIA, IRS, Dept. of Education, and of course “the border czar” Kamala Harris.
That’s what I call a WIN-WIN for the GOP and America.
So, Team Trump, MAGA, and America-First…80 million strong… it’s time to call your Congressperson and demand an official on-the-record vote for Donald J. Trump for House Speaker. Start dialing!

Hannity is reporting that “some House Republicans have been in contact” with President Trump and that they have started an effort to push for DJT as the next Speaker.
And there are reports that Trump might be interested.
Sean Hannity: “Sources are telling me at this hour, some House Republicans have been in contact with and have started an effort to draft former President Donald Trump to be the next Speaker. And, I have been told that President Trump might be open to helping the Republican Party, at least in the short term, if necessary.”
Kevin McCarthy was removed as House Speaker earlier today.
