Ice, Painters, and Angels
Hi friends, I’m blessed to be guest blogging today on Lynn Mosher’s site Heading Home with my post Ice, Painters, and Angels.
Gray-green, clouds billowed on the evening horizon. With a quick goodbye to my co-workers, I hurried to my car. Rain fell and quickly morphed into sleet. The windshield wipers flapped at full speed, and I gripped the wheel as I drove the winding back roads to my parent’s home in the country.
Slowing down for a curve, my tires lost traction. The car spun out of control, skidded sideways and crashed into a deep ditch. Rattled but unscathed, I sat praying, wondering what to do. My car was stuck. …

Down in my Heart Joy
Weepy and weary, my proverbial tail dragged behind me. No real cause. Just felt sad. I knew I was following God, knew I had done the right things, even knew I was accomplishing what God had called me to accomplish. I felt lonely, and not even that I had a reason to be lonely. It’s just hard sometimes following God off the beaten path.
I was standing in the kitchen when I became aware of a song playing in my head. At first the song was faint, and then grew. Imagine my surprise when I realized the song was “I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart…”
Even though at the moment I didn’t “feel” joyful, I realized God’s truth. As a Christian, Jesus lives in my heart. In His presence is fullness of joy. The Holy Spirit is joy. So…. I really do have joy in my heart.
Regardless how we feel, if we are Christians, we have God’s joy within us.
Unfortunately we are the ones to choose how far down that joy resides.
Heavenly Father, I choose Your inexhaustible, always present joy! Help me to release Your joy that flows straight from Your heart to mine.

Fading into the deep
The more we fall in love, the deeper that love,
the more consuming our passion for our Savior,
the less we are swayed and motivated by the things of this world.
Heavenly Father, take me deeper, so deep,
abiding in Your presence that the worries of this world,
the temptations and trinkets, fade in the light of Your presence.

Hearing You
You whisper in my heart, Come away my beloved.
My heart moans with longing, and I tear myself from the shackles and constraints placed on myself and my busyness. And I come into Your presence where You wait with open arms. Your Holy Spirit envelopes, and breathes, and rains on my thirsty soul.
And I try so hard, so very hard, to block the noises of the day and the things that keep me from Your side. The things that are blessings, yet can become such chains to chain me on the earth and keep me from flying to Your presence.
Oh Heavenly Father, muffle the sounds from within and without. Shield my soul from what drives me away from You. Nothing on earth, no one on earth, no possession, title, or accomplishment, can replace You. Whom have I in heaven and on earth besides You?
I love You, Father. Forever. Take my mind, body, heart, soul, and strength. I give my all to You.

Godly parents, youth group, choir, bible study and all those who influenced her then, prepared her for Gods plan today. At 16 God called Chandra to ministry. After years of ministering to students, it came as no surprise when God gave her vision to begin a ministry for students, GAB Ministries (Godly and Beautiful) in 1999.
With over 20 years of ministry experience; 5 years on staff at Castle Hills First Baptist Church and 10 years with GAB Ministry, Chandra is a sought after and highly recommended communicator. Bruce and Chandra, married for 31 years, call Houston, Texas home. They attend Houston’s First Baptist Church with their family-Lindsey and Bryan Oler and Holly and Caleb OFlaherty..

Taking On The World
Hi friends, I’m blessed to be guest posting on Jennifer Slattery’s site today!
I love watching the Olympics. I’m so amazed at those who train and prepare their bodies to be the absolute best. During the Winter Olympics a television announcer commented that one particular Olympic athlete thrived on pressure. What if we had the same attitude when life gets difficult?
