Erin Brady is a self-confessed romantic comedy addict who hopes to never find a cure. She spends countless hours re-reading Pride and Prejudice and admits to never getting tired of Darcy’s britches. She loves watching rom-com movies because, when it comes down to it, she can’t get enough of the “girl meets boy and falls in love” stories. Most importantly, she loves to laugh and finds humor in everything from washing dishes to singing karaoke off key!

Ms. Brady writes chick lit novels and enjoys every minute of it. All of her novels follow the lives of women who, mindfully or not, end up pursuing their dreams while making mistakes and learning to laugh (and fall in love) along the way. Erin admits that her inspiration for her characters often

Thanks for asking it. I have a wide range of favorite authors (as you can tell, I love to read!) If I were to narrow it down to chick lit, I love Sophie Kinsella and Helen Fielding. I also love indie authors such as Samantha Stroh Bailey and Meredith Schorr. The "OMG Test" by Pippa Franks is a great read too.

It's no secret that I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. Her books inspire me every time I get in front of the computer to write. And it may sound completely unrelated, but I am very much inspired by Lucille Ball. I think her slap-stick comedy is genius and it inspires me when trying to write a romantic comedy.

When I write, I try to stay focused on the story I am telling. I can actually picture myself there and hear the conversations in my head. I've come to love my book characters because, by the time I finish writing a book, I feel like I know them so well! They become an extension of me. (less)

What I write down might be gibberish and have nothing to do with the storyline of the book I'm in the middle of, but I find it helpful. It can be jotting down random thoughts about what's on my mind, like I would in a personal journal or diary, or I might type out an email to an old friend or leave a comment on a social media site. Such writing exercises spurs my creative juices and gets me back on track with my book. And if all else fails, I head out the door and grab a cup of coffee and simply people watch or I might pick up a favorite book of mine and read for an hour. That also helps. I get inspired by the writing of amazing authors I admire. (less)

Unstuck

Last week, I was driving to Starbucks to get myself a delicious cafe latte (I’d travel through snow and ice for my steaming cup of caffeine) when my tire blew out. It happened just as I parked in a spot. I got out of the car and assessed the situation. I then ordered my coffee (I know where my priorities lie) and called a tow truck to come rescue me.  I’m embarrassed to admit that I can’t change a Read more of this blog post »

“love is not always enough if you both want different things.”
Erin Brady, The Shopping Swap

“how I became an accountant. You really want to know? Well, I can tell you because I remember the exact moment it happened. It’s one of those major life events that stays in your memory like your first kiss, your first introduction to dirty martinis with extra olives, and the first time you discovered the magic of a vibrator.”
Erin Brady, And The Winner Is...

“someone who has no idea of how to use a computer.”
Erin Brady, One Last Blind Date
