And Little-Girl…oh, she was a trooper! There is nothing…not one thing… ab...

An Excerpt From Chapter Eight of Huntsman

From Chapter 8

The manse fairly sparkled in the torchlight. Aila puffed a stray lock of wheat-brown hair from her face and lowered herself to the bench by the hearth.

For but a moment, she told herself. It had been a busy day and for just a breath or two, she allowed herself the luxury of sitting. There was time before the guests began to arrive and if she did not admire the work of her labors now, she knew she would not.

Pure Magic!

I hold in my hands…and believe me it makes it very hard to type, yet I cannot bear to put it down…a paperback copy of my book.

I love those words. I have been grinning like an idiot since the UPS guy dropped it on our back porch. It’s REAL. There’s paper and ink with a spine and back cover blurb with our picture beneath. (No…I have NOT begun referring to myself in the third person tense. I put a family photo.)

It’s got page numbers! And a table of contents. And all my words printed right there...

The checklist from Hell…

I am on the brink of self-publishing…

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Here are some things I never knew before:

No program on the planet will stay at 300 dots per inch when I set it there. They must all revert back to 72 dpi when the hour strikes!

Margins, headers and footers will all stand up, stretch and shuffle aimlessly around my document as soon as my back is turned. They are like a band of Settings Zombies whose source of nourishment consists of the screams of Outrage and tufts of hair I hurl at them w...
