I am slowly plugging through an excellent book about the creation of the Panama Canal, "The Path Between the Seas" by David McCullough. I just started book one in the Tarzan series. I didn't realize it was so adult. I love the classics!(less)

Sometimes I talk to my husband, if the block has to do with feeling frustrated with the direction the story is taking. If it's severe, I start reading the WIP from the beginning, that usually does the trick. Sometimes I go to another writing project and give the troublesome one a rest.(less)

EBook, Paperback, Book Cover Questions

How do you publish to so many eBook sites? How did you make your book into a paperback? How do you design a book cover? (I've answered the book cover question in more detail on a previous blog post) I've been asked this by so many people, I don't know who to attribute the question to :) There’s basically two ways to get your book fully distributed. You can either go to each and every eBook web... Read more of this blog post »

The best thing by far is I can get the tornado of thoughts out of my head. I'm constantly thinking about various scenarios, different plots, and character traits. People who've read my books and then met me, tend to look askance at me. They seem t... See Full Answer

I'm not sure why I loved this book so much. Maybe because it was a raw biography written by the baroness herself in her own unique style? I enjoy history when it's written at the current time. It gave a nice perspective of an Austrian nun's journey f ...more

“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”

“The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter. ’tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”

Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

Stephen King
“The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them -- words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for want of an understanding ear.”
Stephen King
