I grew up in a creaky old colonial house in Connecticut that just might’ve been haunted. As a kid, I was a choirboy in a church that was built in 1754. I also pounded out stories on a black Remington typewriter until I sold my first magazine article at age 19.

Since then, I've written numerous novels, novellas, and short stories. My work has been praised by Booklist, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, RT Book Reviews, and Kirkus Reviews.

When I’m not writing, I bike and hike the Colorado Rockies, explore ghost towns and wrench on classic cars. But the whole time, I’m usually thinking about the book I’m going to write next.

I'm so excited about where these characters are heading that I honestly feel like I can't write it fast enough.

It builds on so many mysteries, and it answers the burning question that absolutely everyone will be asking at the end of the first book. But that's just the beginning.

At the same time, the second book opens up Dru’s universe (or the “Druniverse” as I like to call it) in crazy new ways. New magic, new creatures, new challenges, and new secrets that will quite literally rock the world. (less)

I can't officially confirm anything just yet, but keep your eyes peeled. Also, for more Dru adventures available now as ebooks, check out the prequel stories (Magic Carpet Ride, Put a Spell on You).

If you haven't read Magic Carpet Ride yet, just let me know and I'd be delighted to send you a copy as my gift.

Thanks for sharing Dru’s journey! :)(less)

One of the little-known perks of being a writer is that I get to pretend that I know all kinds of cool stuff. Every character I create is an expert in something. They can hack into top-secret computer networks, field strip an AK-47 blindfolded, make a peanut butter sandwich without dripping any. These people have […]

Not the best Jack Reacher story, but it did keep my interest throughout. The ending, however, bothered me quite a bit.

This ebook changed my life.

Because I'm kind of dense, I had to read it several times (and get corroboration from a bunch of best-selling authors) before I took its lessons to heart. Since then, I've more than doubled my writing speed.

Highly recomme

An absolutely fascinating look into the daily life of a pulp writer, and his astonishing real-life rags-to-riches story. Useful advice and inspiration for writers that still rings true, even today.

Absolutely loved this book. As with most anthologies, the best stories are near the front. But this is still a top-notch collection of exciting sword and sorcery fiction. Highly recommended.

A great little primer on developing the mindset of a professional writer. Keep in mind that this was written in 1922, so there's a certain historical context there. But much of the advice is still valid, even today.
