Holiday Staff Picks | Heather Sadlemire
Heather has been part of Team Beekman for a little over two months but you wouldn’t know it. Read on for her Beekman picks and see what we mean.
What are your top 5 Beekman products?
1. Apricot & Honey Tea Body Lotion – I keep it on my nightstand and use it anytime I enter my bedroom. My hands have never been softer.

2. Coffee Goat Milk Hot Fudge – Sure, you’re supposed to “warm it up” and “pour it on ice cream” but here’s a pro-tip: Cut out the middle man and go at it with a spoon. There are these magical, little espresso crystals that are just … yes. Do it. Have no regrets.

3. Mortgage Lifter Extra Spicy Pasta Sauce – Obsessed. This is a jarred pasta sauce that WOULDN’T have my Italian grandparents rolling in their graves. It truly tastes homemade and (family, stop reading now. I will give you three seconds .. 2 … 1 …) I totally claim it as my own in a hearty goulash dish. NOBODY will guess you didn’t pluck the ingredients out of your own garden. Unless you don’t have a garden. Just tell them you went to a Farmer’s Market.

4. Hi, Neighbor t-shirt – So soft! So cozy! So Beekman!

5. Happy Place Odor Eliminator – Company is coming over in fifteen minutes and your house is a wreck? Shove everything in that spare room, then run around the house, frantically dusting and spraying this. It gives the illusion that your house has been clean for days, and that you’ve spent your morning leisurely lounging as the fresh air gently wafts throughout your home. And not at all like you’ve been slowly tracking clues to a chocolate crime scene left behind by your three-year-old and that you stepped on cat puke on your way there. Your home is ALWAYS a Happy Place.
What is your favorite scent that Beekman carries?
Apricot & Honey Tea – light and crisp
What is your favorite packaging?
The Happy Place Line, Apricot & Honey (Ok, ok … I’m a little crazy for it) and Oak Moss
What Beekman gift would you like to gift to someone this year? To whom?
All of my 30-something “mom” friends can expect to find something from the Triple Milk line under the tree from me. The line is sooo easy to use, which is important when your “me” time is limited to a couple of minutes between bedtime stories and packing lunches for the morning. And it actually leaves your skin feeling like you HAD spent time taking care of yourself.

My 3-year-old daughter and my 27-year-old brother can expect poop. Goat Poop.
What Beekman gift would you like to get this year?
I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose at a Beekman Trip of a Lifetime! But, we have SO MANY GORGEOUS beauty sets this year. From the Lip Balm Trio stocking stuffers to the classic White Water gift set – I’d NEVER be disappointed with any Beekman gift sets under the tree.

Meet Mrs. Goat
Hi Neighbors! Last year we released the limited edition of Mr. Goat ornament through our collaboration with Bed, Bath and Beyond. We had 1,802 of Mr. Goat made and it quickly became a scavenger hunt to get your hands on him. This year, we had him in mind when we commissioned the same artist to create his partner: ! Read on to find out a bit more about her.
She gets together for afternoon tea with the Barnyard Royalty crew every Thursday.
She loves NASCAR, but never goes in person because of the noise.
She always orders her salad dressing “on the side.” “On the side” is a very big thing for her.
Her favorite movie is “When Harry Met Sally”
Her favorite drink is Beekman’s Hot Chocolate.
She once scanned and printed a one dollar bill as a joke, and doesn’t realize she’s on the FBI watchlist.
She is the master of accents amongst her friends.
Her milkshake still brings all the boys to the yard.
Abraham Lincoln’s sons kept two goats in the White House with them. She is a family descendant of Nanny and Nanko.
She may or may not have had a hand in recruiting some of the goats on the Beekman Farm for their artisanal poop.

Chemically Engineered

Take a look at the label on the back of one of your skincare products.
The average person exposes their skin to over 200 chemicals every day, and about 60% of these chemicals can be found floating in the bloodstream.
Your skin is your body’s largest living breathing organ. When you put chemicals on it, your skin “ingests” them. You wouldn’t choose to eat, drink or even lick a chemical cocktail, so why force your skin to? Why do you think so much animal testing goes on? Because many of the chemicals can be toxic when they touch the skin, leaving rashes, burns, and worse.
When we first started Beekman 1802, our goal was to create an all-purpose “Soap for Sensitive People” using only the purest ingredients. Our skin is exposed to enough chemicals and pollutants during the course of day; we certainly don’t need more to clean them away.
Beekman soaps contain ONLY goat milk, olive oil, soy oil, coconut oil, lye and essential oil blends.
Cleopatra would bathe in goat milk to restore her skin from the exposure to the arid desert air. It’s true. Goat milk is exceptionally moisturizing, but it also has the same pH as human skin, so it doesn’t lead to excess drying. Our Beekman 1802 bars can be used to cleanse face, body and even your hair.
Many commercial soaps use petrochemical byproducts which allow them to make cheaper products in larger quantities, but these can be irritating to the skin. Synthetic fragrances are then added to mask the smell. These, too, can irritate the skin (and the nose!).
In our scented soaps, we use only blends of essential oils, and even then at very small amounts so that the scent is light and never lingers on the skin.
Beekman 1802: seeking to make the world a more beautiful place from the outside in.

For the Naughty and Nice!
Ask just about anyone, and they’d probably associate getting a lump of coal with being on the naughty list for the holidays. Luckily for you, one of the most loved beauty items from Beekman 1802 turns the reasoning behind the lore right on its head. We’re talking about our Lump of Kohl, the perfect gift for someone who’s been a little naughty this year (raises hand!)
Our Lump of Kohl is a skin detox treatment that uses bamboo charcoal to remove impurities and chemicals from the skin. Goat milk moisturizes the skin and keeps it pH balanced. It’s lightly scented with notes of frankincense and myrrh to rejuvenate the sense. Each generous bar is meant to be cut into smaller portions for use.
And because the holidays are all about the shimmer, we also have the Lump of Gold. We believe that good people, like good neighbors, deserve our shimmer beauty bar. Much like Lump of Kohl, it uses goat milk to help maintain skin pH and moisture. Plus each bar contains minute flecks of gold mica minerals that provides a hint of shimmer while keeping your face and body “sparking clean.” It is lightly scented with notes of bergamot and star anise.
Everyone from Cosmo to InStyle magazine agree that everyone on both your naughty and nice list deserve a Lump of Kohl (and Gold) waiting in their stocking this season.

Limited Edition Hand Painted Cookie Jars
It’s no secret that we loves cookies, I mean, who doesn’t? It’s only right that we now have 3 amazing cookie jar to keep all those delicious sweet bites in. We can’t guarantee how long they’ll stay in there.
Meet the Beekman 1802 Limited Edition Hand Painted Cookie Jars.

Farmhouse
Beekman 1802 Farm sits in the picturesque village of Sharon Springs, NY. Almost every Christmas the 60 acre farm and the farmhouse is blanketed in fluffy white snow. This special jar depicts the farm in all of its holiday glory and is limited to a firing of only 1,802 pieces.

Animals
According to the Brothers Grimm in the folk story “The Town Musicians of Bremen,” a donkey, dog, cat and rooster leave their masters (as they are past their prime, working years in life) and head to the town of Bremen to become musicians. On the way there, they come across a cottage where robbers are hiding out, enjoying their plunders. The animals decide to work together as good Neighbors and stand on each other to appear bigger and more imposing. The robbers run out of the house and the animals live there happily ever after. It was this story written in the early 1800s that inspired the enduring image of animals of all types standing together to accomplish an important goal. We’ve turned it into this charming limited edition cookie jar with a Limited Edition firing of 1,802 pieces (of course, being Beekman 1802, we had to include a goat)

Farm Truck
At Beekman 1802 we raise and grow almost all the food we consume, and among our best crop each year are the delicious cookies Beekman 1802. Let our farm truck cookie jar deliver them directly to your kitchen counter. As with the other two cookie jars, this is a limited edition production of 1,802 pieces. Note the Hi, Neighbor bumper sticker on the truck. We’ll include a bumper sticker for you to use on your own car as well.
Make sure to share with us your family cookie recipes that you will be baking to fill the latest addition to the family.

15 Photos of a Black Dog on Green Grass in Orange Leaves under Blue Sky
October 1st is National Black Dog Day. Black dogs (and cats) are statistically the last pets to be adopted from shelters. We have no idea why because they’re clearly the most beautiful.
Our rescue dog Önder decided to help her black brethren & sisters by showing just how photogenic and talented canines noir can be. (And they speak french too!)
Join us as Önder poses around the farm, and help spread praise about black dogs & cats.

A Late September Walk Around the Farm
The temperature dropped from the 80’s to the 50’s overnight. The humidity is gone. The bees are moving slower. Full-on Fall color is right around the corner, but before it arrives, let’s take a walk among the fading greens…
