I am an artist, born and raised in New York. I produce work in oil, watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil, which are often shown and sold in exhibitions. My artwork tends toward the beautiful and structured, specializing in portraits and still lifes, some illustrative, some painterly. As a visual arts educator, I served for more than twenty years in Nyack, NY.

I am a writer. I grew up with an old cemetery in back of my childhood home, which may explain a few things... My stories tend toward darkness and uncertainty in both the supernatural and human conditions. Good creepy stuff to keep you turning pages and perhaps allows you to see something of yourself in them.

As it is with all art, making a concept or a simple idea into a tangible form is magic! I like the challenge of creating a story or a character that didn't previously exist and have readers respond after suspending disbelief. It really is a gift.(less)

But when it does hit, the first thing I do is recognize it. It does no good to avoid or get upset over it. Once it's seen, the next step is to recall where I left the story and start asking 'what if' questions. Totally hypothetical questions...no commitment to the possibilities until I've hit upon the situation that will answer it best. Then I pick up where I left off and begin writing again. (less)
