Wren Handman is a novelist and screenwriter living in soggy Vancouver, which gives her plenty of time to curl up in front of a computer.

She primarily writes young adult fiction and fantasy novels. In her screenwriting, her emphasis is on the real world with a touch of fantastical. She believes that what we see in media impacts how we see the world, and she hopes to make that view brighter.

That's sort of like asking "Who is your favourite child?" or "Which of your parents do you like more?"

I'm a huge fan of books that aren't romance-specific but have strong romantic elements. I think it's because I enjoy books with intense emotions that give me a satisfying (if not always happy) ending, and that kind of emotional intensity is often a result of turbulent romances. I love stories where love develops slowly and realistically, where couples face adversity but ultimately come together, where love is challenged by the environment rather than the characters themselves.

Some favourite couples? The Soulless series comes to mind, because I have a huge soft spot for couples who get together in book one and STAY TOGETHER for the whole series. I absolutely detest "will they won't they," or breakups that feel forced and you know won't last. Another love of lovers mine is Cosette and Marius from Les Mis (the book, not the musical, though I think we can all agree that Portman knocked it out of the park). (less)

This book has such a horrible premise and world building, but the writing is solid and the characters were interesting enough that I found myself wanting to continue reading, even while I railed against how dumb the setting was.

I read this book a long time ago, and went back to it with trepidation. Would it be as wonderful as I remembered? I've grown up a lot since then, and my politics have gotten more aware. In a book with this much kinky sex, a decade could make a danger ...more

I don't read a lot of romance, and I joked with my friends that I was just reading Outlander but set in Cornall instead of Scotland, but this book caught me up with its delightful characters and lovely, winding story, and I found myself utterly enjoy ...more

Briggs' novels are always a fun time, though I'm starting to get to the point where I think Mercy's story could wrap up and I would appreciate that. It's been a long ride, and she deserves a rest! But, overall, a fun read.

I loved the first book in this series so much, and it wrapped so beautifully, that I really didn't want to read this book. I wasn't sure what more there could be in the story, and I was afraid to ruin the lovely memory I had.
