When I was around 12 or so my friend and I would draw crazy comics about monstrous humanoids violently dismembering people. My character was a brute named Goroth.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking a bit about my personal history as an artist (Oy) and it’s dredging up all sorts of debris from my cartooning past.
I haven’t been able to find any surviving childhood drawings of Goroth but I thought it might be fun to try and recreate the vile beast.
If my 12 year-old self is reading this I hope you are pleased (if not keep it to yourself).

Here’s something: I did the commission at the top (apologies for the low res image) for a reader a few years back. I was recently contacted by said reader’s wife, who wanted to surprise him with a drawing reflecting their more current lifestyle as parents, which you can see below.
Over the years I’ve tried imagining life after Box Office Poison for the characters but I never pictured Sherman and Dorothy having kids. Showing them as happy parents was using the same creative muscles I used when I drew them as the White Stripes or the Justice League or Wonder Woman.
