Ink Banthas Show: Since my co-host Mike Dawson is in the middle...

Ink Banthas Show: Since my co-host Mike Dawson is in the middle of relocating next week’s Ink Panthers podcast will be a bit different: I’ll be joined in the Panther’s Lair by my friend Pete the Retailer and we talk about nothing but Star Wars. People seem to love or hate when we talk about Star Wars so we figured it was best to keep it in a self-contained episode so that haters could avoid it.
Anyway, this is the logo I came up with, a tweak on our normal icon. I’ll post a link when it goes live but in the meantime you can always check out http://www.inkpanthers.com for our regular, non-Star Wars episodes if you are curious.

My itunes round-up
I recently added the 10,000th song to my itunes library, so I figured having a nice round number to work with it would be a good time for some figgerin’:
Longest song: “Dogs” by Pink Floyd (17:07)
Shortest song: “Dennis Moore Song Part 3” by Monty Python (:04)
First song alphabetically: “A-Punk” by Vampire Weekend
Last song, alphabetically: “9th and Hennepin” by Tom Waits
Songs in “comedy” genre: 781*
Songs in “mash-up” genre: 260
Songs in “HipHop/Rap” genre: 149
Songs in “country” genre: 184
Most popular genre: “rock” 2721 songs
Lease popular genre: “blues” 8 songs
Beatles songs: 357
Elvis Costello songs: 183
Frank Sinatra songs: 193
Cover songs: 1131
Songs with “Love” in title: 375
Songs with “fuck” in title: 20
Songs with “me” in the title: 1252
Songs with “you” in the title: 925

*Note: technically, these are not all “songs” since it also includes items like The Onion Radio News and stuff like Monty Python. Also, not all my novelty songs fall into the comedy category.

An experiment this week: what kind of podcast can the fellas record when one of them (me) has just awoken from an impromptu nap? The answer: a pretty OK one, I think! We give sort of a half-answer to a listener question about popular webcomics, claiming we don't spend much time on the show…

My "progress" on Manga Studio. I got Manga Studio for Dummies and the good news is that the front of the book has a section giving you the bare bones on what you need: how to do roughs, inks, panel borders and lettering. The bad news is that I got stumped on the panel borders section. I put them in the roughs stage but can't close the deal since the thing I'm supposed to click isn't an option on the menu. This is intensely frustrating but I'm determined to keep trying.
This is the page I was working on (a charming story of an old pug attempting to learn Manga Studo). Considering I'm drawing this with a mouse as quickly as I can, it's not completely awful. Since I've pretty much only worked with pen and ink my entire life I'm intrigued at the idea of my style being altered by the medium. It's at once familiar but different enough to be kind of exciting.
Assuming I don't put my fist through the monitor I will present periodic updates.
P.S.—At one point I was curious about pasting artwork in using copy/paste. I didn't think it worked but just noticed the tiny pug head in the upper left.

These are my favorite kind of bad review in the world. It combines ignorance (not taking 10 seconds to figure out that maybe "Bohemian Rhapsody" is in volume 1) with sweeping condemnation (she doesn't blame the band or record label but Amazon, who should really be checking to make sure that every CD they distribute features a band's greatest hit). I'm a little surprised she didn't take it to the next level and blame CDs or perhaps music itself ("I will never buy music again.. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED").
