Mister Wizard Is Still A Jerk of the Day: You’d think the first video would have exhausted all the footage of TV legend Mr. Wizard being a condescending ass, but there’s more. So, so much more.

My first ever Small Press Expo, way back in 1996.
This was the tail end of Box Office Poison as a mini-comic (you can see my publishing empire spread out optimistically before me) and only a month before Antarctic Press would publish the first “real” issue. I’m wearing a tie, since it was only my second show as an exhibitor (the first, for those keeping score, was the I.C.E. show in Chicago, part of Dave Sim’s “Spirits of Independents” tour).

We were watching The Boardwalk Empire last night and, being a history dork, I was pleasantly surprised to see Warren G. Harding appear. I couldn’t recall ever seeing him played by an actor before, and that got me wondering how many of our illustrious Commanders-in-Chief have appeared in movies or TV shows. Then it made me hope that someone on YouTube would edit them all together (in order, of course) but it doesn’t seem like anyone has done that.
It did make me wonder if all the presidents would be represented. Obviously, Lincoln, F.D.R. and George Washington would be well-represented (my wife and I debated who would be the most represented, but couldn’t decide between Lincoln, Nixon or Kennedy), but in what context would, say, Benjamin Harrison or Rutherford B. Hayes appear in a movie?
(BREAKING NEWS: naturally someone has compiled a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_actors_who_played_President_of_the_United_States OK, people who know how to do things on computers, start editing them together and make my dream come true!

Split screen love story.
This is pretty cool, though I can already see it ruined by being made into a commercial for insurance of something.

Today is the birthday of one of my all-time favorite cartoonists, Sergio Aragones. I was lucky enough to commission this sketch of Marla the Barbarian from my Lower Regions meeting Groo the Wanderer. Needless to say, if my 12 year-old self ever finds out about this he will wet his C-3PO Underoos.
