Welcome to our regular “Ask the Cat Doc With Dr. Lynn Bahr” segment! Once a month, Dr. Bahr answers as many of your questions as she can, and you can leave new questions for her in a comment.

Dr. Bahr graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Unlike most veterinarians, she did not grow up knowing that she would become a veterinarian. “It was a cat who got me interested in the practice and I am forever grateful to him...

Mews and Nips: Cats Fall in Love After Seeing Each Other Through Windows

neighbor-cats-falls-in-love-simon-theo

It all started with a photo posted by Twitter user “Mac” of her cat Simon gazing adoringly through a window at another cat in a neighboring building. “My cat Simon is in love with my neighbor’s cat,” tweeted Mac. If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Mon...

Cat Camp NYC 2019: A Celebration of Cats and the People Who Love Them

cat-camp-nyc

The third annual Cat Camp NYC took place at the Metropolitan Pavillion in New York City this past weekend. The event brought together cat lovers from all over the world for a weekend of fun, learning, and inspiration. The focus of Cat Camp is, and always has been, on empowering attendees to  realize how powerful each individual is when it comes to improving cat’s lives – whether it’s their own cats, cats in their community, and cats in general. And it’s so much fun!

Trixie Baza Scratching Post, Hammock and Condo

cat-tree-hammock

I recently came across this little cat tree with a hammock on top and wanted to share it with you, because so many cats love hammocks. It’s advertised as a cat tree, but at 20 inches high, I’d hardly call it a “tree.” Despite the lack of height, I think this is a fun piece of furniture that will appeal to a lot of cats.

It comes in two different configurations: just the hammock, or with a plush little condo at the base.

Both versions feature super plush fabric and sisal wrapped scratching...

We all know cats are creatures of habit. They tend to follow the same routine day after day, and they don’t much appreciate a disruption of that routine. If you’ve followed me for a while, you also know how much Allegra and Ruby love their Jackson Galaxy Donut Beds – in fact, they love them so much that I had to get a second one to keep the peace!

After I got the second bed, the girls pretty much each claimed their own bed. Allegra preferred the one up ag...

There’s no question that cats love to climb. Vertical space in the form of cat trees and cat shelves is critical to providing an enriched environment for indoor cats. The Cat Ladder addresses this need in a way that’s creative, functional, and beautiful – and most of all, it lends itself to endless possibilities in any home of any size.

About the Cat Ladder

The idea for the Cat Ladder came to creator Joe Koz...

Diabetes Educational Toolkit Supports Partnership Between Veterinary Professionals and Caregivers

Diabetes in cats has reached epidemic proportions. The disease affects as many as 1 in 50 cats, with male, neutered cats and cats who are overweight or obese being at greater risk. The condition is becoming more prevalent in cats due to factors such as diet and low activity levels.

Treating diabetes is not always straightforward

Management and treatment of feline diabetes is often perceived as a very complicated process, as each cat requires an individualized plan, which includes frequent r...
