Tracy Clark is an award winning writer of novels for young adults and runs the Moxie Fruit blog for midlife women. Basically, she has one foot in the teen side of her brain and one in her midlife side.

She recently relocated from the cold part of the Sierras to the sunny and looks forward to being warm for once. Her college-aged kids are a continuous source of great dialogue and keep her young.

The recipient of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Work in Progress Grant and a two-time participant in the prestigious Nevada SCBWI Mentor Program.

Tracy is a private pilot, an irredeemable dreamer, and a spicy-chocolate connoisseur.

Hi there,

MIRAGE is very different than the Light Key Trilogy. It's a YA psychological thriller set in a skydiving drop zone in the Mojave Desert. I think of it as a Sixth Sense vibe in an adrenaline rush setting. The main character, Ryan, is also much more "live out loud" than Cora from the series. I took some chances and broke some rules in MIRAGE. Hope you like it!(less)

Writing scenes out of order is not unusual for me, so if the current scene I'm on is stalling, I'll skip ahead and write a scene I know is coming and trust myself to connect the dots later. Another technique is to write free-hand. Getting away from my computer and the perfectionism it brings up in me, and just writing with a pen and paper, will often free up a creative part of my brain where new ideas flow and I'm not afraid to be messy.(less)

Dante Alighieri
“A mighty flame follows a tiny spark.”
Dante

“Adults who were hurt as children inevitably exhibit a peculiar strength, a profound inner wisdom, and a remarkable creativity and insight. Deep within them - just beneath the wound - lies a profound spiritual vitality, a quiet knowing, a way of perceiving what is beautiful, right, and true. Since their early experiences were so dark and painful, they have spent much of their lives in search of the gentleness, love, and peace they have only imagined in the privacy of their own hearts.”
Wayne Muller, Legacy of the Heart: The Spiritual Advantage of a Painful Childhood
