Interview with Diana Rubino

This week I had Diana Rubino by for a sit down and chat, where we discussed her and one of her works.

Diana Rubino

Okay so let’s get to the questions so we can get to know her and her books.

Me:What inspired you to become a writer?

Diana: I started writing little stories as soon as I could hold a pencil. Storytelling always fascinated me. I became a voracious reader ever since I learned to read, and my love of reading also inspired me.

Me: What inspired your move from things like Chic Lit Vampire...

Where Fantasy Began For Me

I remember clearly the first time I was really tugged into the world of fantasy. It wasn’t Cinderella, it wasn’t Snow White. In fact, it wasn’t Disney at all. It had a much darker tone than Disney delved into back then.

I was nine and although up until then I had enjoyed the fairy tales that Disney spun, they hadn’t hooked me. But then, along came a movie that not only hooked me into the fantasy realm, but actually left a piece of that realm in me when I left. A piece that grew quietly in the...

Today, it is Fall!

Okay, so not really, not yet. BUT, it is getting there. Today it is cool (almost chilly), the wind is out of the north, and it feels like Fall.

So, even though I know the temperatures aren’t going to stay like this and I know that Fall isn’ttechnicallyhere yet, today it is Fall here in the house.

The windows are open and the cool breeze is blowing merrily through the windows. Turkey and noodles are simmering on the stove, fresh made pumpkin and apples pies are cooling on the counter, home-made...

Review of Growing Up Country: Memories of an Iowa Farm Girl by Carol Bodensteiner

I did an interview with Carol a while back (click here to read it) and while memoirs are not normally something I read, checking out the book before I did the interview intrigued me.

So I got a copy of Growing Up Country: Memories of an Iowa Farm Girl and started reading.

Growing Up Country: Memories of an Iowa Farm Girl delivers a treat as delicious as oatmeal cookies hot out of the oven – a memoir of a happy childhood. In charming and memorable vignettes, Carol Bodensteiner captures rural lif...

New back cover and spine!

A week ago (or so), I was perfectly happy with the back cover and the spine of my paperback. The back is what I could do with the CreateSpace template, and the spine was a very plain Jane affair with my book title and name in white block type letters. Again, what CreateSpace offered.

Then one day one of my author friends posted pictures of her back cover and spine done by Blue Harvest Creative Concepts. It was extremely nice and very professional looking. I thought it was beautiful, I loved it...

Feature and Review, The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton

This week I have another review and feature. The Forever Girl. This was recommended to me by someone on Face Book. I read the blurb and thought it sounded interesting and wanted to give it a try, although I was worried it was just going to be another one of those vampire books. I was pleasantly surprised.
