“You.” I smirk.
“Why did you pick me?”
“I saw you in your high heels and your tight skirt. I like how you looked back,” I whisper, licking my lips. “My turn. Do you like to dance with strangers?”
“Is that a real question?”
“Ah-ah,” I say. “Can’t answer with a question.”
“Okay. Well, then I guess … maybe?”
“Hmm …”
Her hips grind against mine as we lose ourselves in the music. My body close to hers, it’s almost as if we’re becoming one. We don’t know each other … and that makes it perfect.
“My turn,” she says. “Do you do this often?”
“Yes.”
“That’s not really an answer,” she says.
“Then don’t ask a question that can be answered with just one word,” I muse.
She sighs. “You’re a know-it-all, aren’t you?”
“I just like games and rules,” I say with an arrogant smile. “Last one … What would you say if I took you home tonight and fucked you like you’ve never been fucked before?”
She sucks in a short breath.
I place a hand over her mouth. “Don’t answer yet. Dance with me first.”
We dance some more, my hands incapable of staying off her. As I become heady from the lust, I press a soft, succulent kiss on her neck, which creates goose bumps all over her body. Her body melts in my arms, and my cock stiffens in response.
“I can’t control myself …” I whisper into her ear.
She twists around in my arms again, and we dance closer than before, my hands on her body in places they shouldn’t be. She leans in, so I go in for the kill.
I kiss her full on the lips, enjoying the spicy taste of her drink.
She kisses me back just as fervently, and I take it as a sign to kiss her harder, faster. I show her what’s in store for her if she goes home with me. And right when she becomes needy, I stop, pull back, and let her suck in the empty air.
“Are you game?” I ask.
“Yeah …” she mutters under a heavy breath.
“No names. No numbers.”

People near the stage scream and clap and I’m about ready to throw my cell against the wall. Stupid, stupid boy and stupid me for stupidly somewhat liking him and him thinking he can get away with not answering me.

“Give it up for our boy Logan.”

My eyes rip up, go for the stage, and my mind shifts into reverse, fast-forward, rewind, and then that smile that’s associated with the devil slides across my face.

Logan stands strong on the stage. Guitar strapped across his chest. Baseball cap backwards on his black hair. And when he strikes the strings of the guitar, those biceps flex beautifully.

That chord just struck a lot deeper than anyone could have imagined. Past my bones, past my muscles, and it’s created a nice warmth that’s curling around my belly. Liquid warmth.

The logical part of my brain demands that I walk away, but he’s the one that scared me by not answering back. He’s the one that’s causing all these alien emotions stirring in my veins.

Yeah, I shouldn’t kiss Logan. I should definitely leave a boy like that alone. But he returned and he’s the one that climbed onto the stage and is looking addictively sexy with that guitar.

Lori's thoughts:  I'm not sure where I saw this book or why I decided to read it. I liked it okay. It was middle of the road for me, but it was still an enjoyable one. I found myself invested enough to keep turning pages and would probably read more things by this author. I can sure relate to some of the things that happened in the story, but I thought that the heroine was a bit of a doormat, letting her husband (bastard) walk all over her. I wouldn't have put up with a quarter of the crap she put up with. Of course, that's easy for me to say because I'm not in that position. I think that's why the book didn't earn more stars for me.

You've the heard the story before since it's a fairly common romance book trope. First there's a billionaire playboy who's in a bit of a pickle because of his reputation. Then there's the unassuming woman who's in quite the pickle herself a pickle not coincidentally the billionaire caused likewise not coincidentally the billionaire can help alleviate. I'm sure you can guess what comes next: yep, marriage of convenience so each of them can get what they want. If you're worried I've spoiled the story, I haven't, this is all in the blurb. 

My point in expressing the above is that this story drew me in from the blurb. Something about it had me asking for the title and I'm so glad I did. The potential here to be trite or cliche was great but The Billionaire Bachelor was absolutely not for a number of reasons. Jessica Lemmon's gift for storytelling took me by storm. I was consumed with the story and felt nice and light reading her contemporary, standalone take on the billionaire and his bride. 

Jessica Lemmon does billionaires from the third person point of view. I love this POV and Lemmon's penchant for writing it was awesome and done so intelligently. It's not simplistic writing yet so simple to read. Her story-telling kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. The Billionaire Bachelor isn't overly angsty, dramatic, dark, or sad. Rather it's light and easy to read, easy to feel invested in as a romance lover. It's just two people hardened and cynical by life who find something in the other born out of an arrangement mutually beneficial to both. 

Jessica Lemmon does character development so very well. Both hero and heroine had so much to give their readers. Their motivations were believable, not contrived or forced. Their passion for their careers and eventually each other is integral to the plot. Lemmon humanized the billionaire in such a subtle way it was nothing short of spectacular. Their passion felt real from beginning to end sizzling beneath the words as their relationship developed. Their banter amuses and makes things fun. Their coldness towards each other makes the lust burn brighter. Their eventual friendship is comfortable and perfect. I can't say enough about the progression of this story and how fitting and perfect I thought it was. 

Jessica Lemmon does aloof billionaires who melt the panties. Reese Crane. Just his name is delicious and totally representative of the man behind it. He's powerful, confident, sexy, and quite witty when he lets it show. But the boy is insecure about relationships bringing him back down to earth. His father and brother, whom you'll meet, ground him even further. The changes in Reese coupled with his personality made him oh-so-hot. He's not a billionaire with a darkness just a cynical, no-holds-barred attitude. To see him melt at the feet of a woman he least expected was so gratifying for me as the reader. 

Jessica Lemmon does feisty heroines. What's better than reading about a woman who can stand on her own two feet? Who isn't needy and insecure? Who sees the depth of people she gets close to and wants to bask in it even the less than flattering parts? Merina Van Heusen was the perfect heroine for me. Confident, sexy, intelligent, and able to go head to head with the powerful billionaire she's fallen prey to. But has she really? She proves equal footing and humanizes Reese even further. I adored Merina. I love her loyalty, her passion, and her kindness. 

If you love sexy billionaires with an attitude; if you love the feisty heroines who can take them on in less than desirable circumstances; if you love a great supporting cast and a couple "villains" thrown in; if you love stunningly written dialogue and prose in an outstanding story structure all in the third person perspective - you don't want to miss Jessica Lemmon's stand alone, first in a new series The Billionaire Bachelor. I cannot wait to read more of Lemmon's books and continue reading about this particular billionaires brother with the next installment of the series. So grateful for the chance to read this.

As intoxicating as the drink itself, The Bourbon Thief entranced me from beginning to end. No surprise when it comes to this gifted author. A story of great love and great loss laced with revenge and mystery. Tiffany Reisz creates yet another world where her readers become entranced and enthralled with a being a part of it. We're drunk off the story as she's weaving it. Her gift and raw talent for telling stories within stories is untouchable. Here beautiful prose tells the brilliant story surrounding the fictional Red Thread Bourbon where great bourbon lead to great wealth as a result of great tragedy and greed. And the debauchery continues. Cursed because of greed the gluttonous history of Red Thread Bourbon unfolds brilliantly captivating readers. 

The story told within the pages of The Bourbon Thief is best consumed without any prior knowledge of the story. Go in with no expectations and find yourself immersed in the brilliance. If you've read Tiffany Reisz novels before you're familiar with her brilliant, one-of-a kind style of story telling. If you're not familiar I believe this book is a really great place to start. Tiffany Reisz is a favorite author of mine. All of her books are favorites of mine. Her characters are one of a kind. This particular story is unlike anything I've read before. So familiar to Reisz' signature style yet so different from her previous works. I'm in awe of her story-telling chops and the marvelous stories she brings to life creating visceral reactions in her readers. The Bourbon Thief is a new favorite of mine and I hope to spend more time in this world and look forward to wherever else Reisz plans to take me. This is a high priority, definite recommendation. I want everyone to read it. Whether it's your first Reisz book or your tenth, The Bourbon Thief is a MUST READ.

This was my first Cole Gibsen book and certainly won't be my last. The premise and plot of the story kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. Gibsen's lovely style of storytelling from the alternating first person pov's of the two main characters kept me thoroughly engaged and interested in where the characters journey would take me. Both hero and heroine, Reece and Emily, two broken souls who find something in each other they would have never expected were compelling and interesting.

A lot of healing and decisions need to be made for these two to have a healthy relationship. Their chemistry flies right off the pages and into your reading heart though. Seemingly nothing in common leads them to find they have more alike than either would have thought. Their strong personalities and insecurities alike make them a charming couple. The romance here is beautifully executed while each character holds their own in both struggle and feeling peace.

Emily is a great heroine. She's feisty and independent yet she's confused and afraid of making real choices in her life. Suffering from chemical dependence she dulls her issues with alcohol and makes a very dangerous decision. Reece meets Emily is the most unfortunate of circumstances resulting from that decision. Dealing with PTSD and plenty survivors guilt Reece isn't well equipped to be whole with someone else as he's not whole himself. How the both of them find each other and find comfort each other was so satisfying even when they're a ticking time bomb.

There's so much to enjoy about this book. There was a common romance trope used near the end that I found made the story more cliche than these characters deserved, however after completing the book I understood greater about the insecurities of the characters and why they simply needed what happened to give them the shove they both needed to be stronger individually. Awesome banter interlaced with well motivated inner dialogue put Gibsen's writing in a well deserved spot from me.

I look forward to reading the book about two secondary characters from the story. And honestly would love a novella or a continuation of Reece and Emily's story. I think there's a lot to explore with these two and it would be awesome to see how their journey progresses. A good read for fans of contemporary romance who enjoy characters with many flaws yet perfect charisma when coupled with the right person.
