Book Review: Broken Prince
Broken Prince (The Royals #2)by Erin Watt (Goodreads Author) (Pseudonym), Elle Kennedy (Goodreads Author), Jen Frederick (Goodreads Author) 4.17 · Rating Details · 17,195 Ratings · 2,453 ReviewsThese Royals will ruin you…
From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.
Reed Royal has it all—looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.
What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely—keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.
Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.
She might be right.
Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

really liked itRead from January 04 to 08, 2017
Great Read!
I highly recommend this series! Broken Prince isn't quite as good as Paper Princess, but it's still an excellent read. I think for me, the reason I didn't like it as much was because some things were a little over the top as something believable that would actually happen.
I liked Ella better in book one, but she's still a take no crap kind of girl.
Thank goodness I have book three ready to read now!

Book Review: Paper Princess
Paper Princess (The Royals #1)by Erin Watt (Goodreads Author) (Pseudonym), Elle Kennedy (Goodreads Author), Jen Frederick (Goodreads Author) 4.16 · Rating Details · 26,942 Ratings · 3,627 ReviewsFrom strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.
These Royals will ruin you…
Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.
Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.
Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.
He might be right.
Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.
Lori's thoughts: This is a book that flew beneath my radar until I started reading all of the book bloggers year end wrap-ups and how many of them chose this as one of their favorite reads of 2016. On a whim, I decided to take a break from the horror and action-packed-no-romance type books I've been reading recently and read Paper Princess. Honestly? I'm so glad I waited to read this after all three of the books in the trilogy were out! I would have been so mad if I finished book one and had to wait... there's a doozy of a cliffhanger!
I think that Ella is one of the best heroines I've read in a very long time. She has moxie! ;) She is tough on the outside and has a heart on the inside. She's had a tough life and winds up in the lap of luxury. But that doesn't mean that her life gets any easier. On the contrary.
Although this book is written about high school characters, it's more mature than YA. I'd classify it as a NA as far as the maturity level of the content.
Highly recommended. I am thankful that I downloaded all three books to my Kindle at the same time! Reading book two in the series right now.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Happy 2017
It should say "Today is the first blank page..."
I didn't read as many books in 2016. I didn't write any books in 2016. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to read more books and perhaps even start writing again. Most of 2016 was devoted to rescuing dogs and moving from one home to another. I'll try to find a way to incorporate everything I love back into my life for 2017.
I'm starting the year by reading this book due to the numerous "favorites" lists it was on:

Read from December 24 to 27, 2016
Sick, twisted, disgusting. Don't judge me. I loved it. There were a few scenes that had me cringing, but I read on. This is a three book series, and I didn't realize that when I read the third book some time ago. It didn't spoil anything for me, book one was still very intriguing.
I can't imagine the horror Nicole faced at the hands of Ron. Walking on egg shells the entire time. Afraid she would answer his questions the wrong way and end up down in the basement. Also, the aftermath must have been terrifying for her. Always looking over your shoulder.
Highly recommended if you can stomach it!

I finished one Blake Crouch book and picked up this one right away. I like a good, action-packed, page-turning read, and haven't been disappointed yet.
There are a few things in the book that made me think "Oh, what a coincidence." Sure a few things were a bit too much to believe. But, you know what? I didn't care. The book was entertaining and it is, after all, FICTION. :)
Can't wait to dive into my next Blake Crouch read!
