The Orphan Witch by Paige Crutcher
"Alice Hoffman’s Practical magic series meet Midnight Library with claustrophobic island vibes!

This is another mind blowing combination of fantasy meets thriller fans should be prescribed to consume at least three times in a day.

Bhavya
Bhavya is starting The Secret Garden: “Her hair was yellow, and her face was yellow because she had been born in India and had always been ill in one way or another.”

Yellow skin?

Most Indians are brown skinned, not ‘yellow’. And not all Indians are brown skinned either. Being born in India doesn’t automatically make you ‘yellow’ skinned. This statement rubs me wrong.

(It was published years ago, so I’ll excuse a bit of it.)
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
"Reread this one before starting Chain of Iron and I must sadly say that it didn't quite hold up the second time around. It was engaging in the classic shadow hunter style, but the character development was nearly non-existent. James and Cordelia feel" Read more of this review »

I loved this book.

It's a topic I'm passionate about myself. It's such a beautiful story about someone (Justin in this case) fighting for animals rights. Not everything in life is sunshine's and lollipops. I'm so glad this has been written. It will o

John Howard Griffin
“Humanity does not differ in any profound way; there are not essentially different species of human beings. If we could only put ourselves in the shoes of others to see how we would react, then we might become aware of the injustice of discrimination and the tragic inhumanity of every kind of prejudice.”
John Howard Griffin, Black Like Me

Terry Pratchett
“It's not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren't doing it.”
Terry Pratchett

Benjamin Alire Sáenz
“It would be so effen great if the whole world laughed more- the whole world. I don't mean the kind of laughing that's putting someone down. I mean the kind of laughing that means you've just discovered something really beautiful.”
Benjamin Alire Sáenz, He Forgot to Say Goodbye

Cassandra Clare
“Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?'
Jace said, "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself."
..."At least," she said, "you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland."
"Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

Cassandra Clare
“Maybe that was why she couldn't cry, she realized, staring dry-eyed at the ceiling. Because what was the point in crying when there was no one there to comfort you? And what was worse, when you couldn't even comfort yourself?”
Cassandra Clare, City of Glass
