IMPACT

In late 2017, I had the joy of designing, formatting, and publishing a devotional book titled "Impact" for my longtime friend in India. He provided the text material and we worked together to make this book available not only in America, but India as well. It has been a blessing to the many readers who either purchased a copy or borrowed one from a friend.
I find it greatly satisfying to help other new authors get their manuscripts published.
On July 19, 2018 I just completed and published a biography titled "Where's Dave? A Biography of David Potter Wells"
Both of these books are available on amazon in paperback and kindle version.

Three Years Ago

On January 20, 2015, 3 years ago today, One Life to Give-Living Water for Thirsty Souls was released by Christian publisher, XULON PRESS. Although this book is no longer “new”, its eyewitness testimonies of God’s love, mercy, and compassion poured out upon the countless lives that were changed will remain long after this book fades into the obscurity of the past. New readers are still discovering it and finding it to be a “treasure chest” of encouragement, inspiration, and hope for themselves.
One Life to Give-Living Water for Thirsty Souls remains in print and available on amazon, BARNES&NOBLE, and many other online bookstores. Google it and enjoy the journey! One Life to Give-Living Water for Thirsty Souls by Rick Blaisdell

Christian Writers Seminar #4

Today's Christian Writers Seminar was an amazing gathering of believers who each has a story to tell. They came with an eagerness to learn how to put their stories in places beyond their manuscripts.
There was also a very sweet presence of the Holy Spirit in the room. Bob and I shared our learned experiences in getting our books written, published, and marketed. The volume of material was a bit overwhelming to some, but that is why we bring printed handouts to each Seminar. Those go home with those who attended. We have seen firsthand, the newly published books from some of our previous attendees, which is very encouraging to all of us. Hearts are touched when Bob and I share the process and purpose of each book we write and we both wish to thank all of you for spending the day with us. Don't hesitate to contact either of us whenever you need to. We want to help you succeed in your writing projects.

REFLECTIONS

It is a bit foggy this morning and the daylight hours are growing less each new day. I have noticed as fall approaches even nature knows the signs. The Canada geese are gathering in small groups in our local corn fields as they "stock up" for the long journey south. Today, I saw two ladybugs in our house. Yesterday I began the long process of bringing in some of our firewood and noticed how many leaves have begun to fall from the trees, and that the grass does not need to be cut as often.
As I look and ponder these things, I am so often reminded that even spiritually, there are seasons in our lives that seem to reflect these changes as well. When I think of fall, I think of how the trees release their leaves to the ground, which in turn, go back to the earth. As believers, I see a similar experience as we release those things which have become "familiar" to us; to embrace new changes as the Holy Spirit continues his process of working in our lives. When the trees appear to be naked of their leaves, (covering), during the winter months, one would look at them and wonder, “How will they survive?” All the "action" is below the ground (out of sight) in the roots area. As I see us in Christ, many times people would look upon us outwardly and may not see much; but below the surface, oh my, how the Living Spirit of God does His most amazing and beautiful handiwork in the roots of our faith.
As I was loading the wood into the wheelbarrow, I also noticed how the insects and spiders had made their safety nest in protected parts of the individual pieces of wood underneath, where they seemed to know they would be protected from the cold and snowy times soon to come. This causes me to reflect and be reminded of Psalm 91:1, "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”. Even in nature around us, these seemingly insignificant insects know how and where to go for their covering and protection from harsh conditions; how much more does Psalm 91 offer us even more covering and protection from the sometimes harsh elements of everyday life. As I meditate on these things while pushing my wheelbarrow, this makes a long, hard job pass quickly as though it were nothing.
And even that makes me think about Mat. 11:28 in the context of carrying a "heavy burden" (the wood in the fully loaded wheelbarrow) into the garage and emptying it, leaving the load in the garage (the foot of the cross) and wheeling the freshly unburdened wheelbarrow, free from the weight it contained only moments before.
As we go through this day together as part of the Body of Christ, may we not find ourselves murmuring or complaining about the long, cold winter approaching; but instead, looking forward to how much new growth the Holy Spirit will have empowered us to walk in.
Before we hardly realize it spring will return, and all that new growth will spring forth "above the ground" where others will know how great our God really is!!
“He has redeemed our lives from destruction and crowned us with loving kindness and tender mercies” (Psalm 103:4).

The Crash that Changed Everything

May 8, 2016
The Crash that Changed Everything

Monday, May 4th– Frydek-Mistak to Kromeriz

After an early morning breakfast, we continued our journey to the city of Kromeriz, fifty-two kilometers to the southwest. We spoke about the meetings of the past two days and how exciting this trip has been so far. It began as a normal day for us, but things changed very quickly. Fred, Vaclav, and Fritz took the lead position, with Karl and me following in Martin’s car. As we travelled through the countryside, we saw a small plume of smoke off in the distance. The road was lined with blossoming apple trees which somewhat obstructed our view from time to time. Suddenly, as we came up out of a dip in the roadway, we came upon a very chaotic accident scene. An oncoming small car had gone off the roadside to our left, and smashed into an apple tree. The vehicle was fully-engulfed in flames, and other drivers were running from car to car, frantically trying to find anyone with a fire extinguisher.

In a matter of seconds, my eyes spotted a young boy about the age and size of our son. Someone had already removed his burned body from the car and laid him on the grass among the apple trees. Other witnesses said he was already dead. There were still four adults in the burning car, two who were the boy’s mom and dad trapped in the back seat. Vaclav pulled out the couple in the front who were both unconscious. Karl and I tried to pull out the other couple in the back seat. They were unconscious as well, probably due to smoke inhalation. I grabbed the man by his arm, and as I pulled him, burned skin and some flesh pulled off in my hands. As gruesome as it was, I was able to get him out and dragged him away from the car, laying him beside his son’s body. Vaclav and Karl tried desperately to pull out the boy’s mom, but she was wedged and trapped between the front and back seats. The flames and smoke were quickly filling the car’s interior as they tried one more time to free her. Vaclav’s coat sleeves caught on fire and burned his arms quite badly, before he and Karl had to back away. There was nothing more any of us could have done to save her. Everyone, including us, were frantic beyond belief, as we helplessly stood by, knowing she was being consumed in the flames. As sure as I am writing this account, the Holy Spirit spoke words I will never forget as long as I live. He said, “Her pain will be but for a moment, but hell is for an eternity”.

Those words cut straight to my heart and caused me to realize as Christians, we have one main purpose on this earth, and that is to share the hope of the gospel with everyone as God gives us opportunity. Since that time, I do not care if people mock me, laugh at me, or shun me for my faith. I have stayed in the homes of many in this nation who have suffered the loss of family members, snatched away in the night, tortured, beaten, and forced to work in slave labor camps in the Soviet Union. I am not ashamed to speak of the goodness of our God and our blessed Savior, Jesus Christ, even if it causes others with me to be embarrassed.

The police came about an hour later and told all of us to clear the area. I can tell you, it was a very somber ride the rest of the way to Kromeriz. We had to keep stopping because Fred could not stop vomiting from this experience. As I write this book of journals nearly twenty years later, Fred still has nightmares about that accident.

Project Joy

Project JOY
Mar 24, 2016
This past June, I attended a Christian writer’s workshop up in Montpelier. I received a Godwink blessing beyond measure. As I was driving the two plus hour trip on the highway, I sensed God placing a distinct thought in my heart. “Pay attention to the signs”. So all day I was waiting for what was next. At the writers workshop there were two authors presenting the material; a fictional author and non-fictional author. I decided to purchase the book written by the non-fictional author, Pastor Rick Blaisdell, and I asked for his autograph. His book “One Life to Give” is a compilation of journals that he had written during his travels to several countries sharing the gospel to people who may never have heard of Jesus. During a break at the workshop, he asked to join another person and myself at our table for lunch and asked us about the book we hoped to write. I shared with him about Makenzie and about the Godwinks. I told him about the inspired thought that I had while driving there and he started to laugh. He pointed to his book that I had just purchased and said you need to read the chapter on my visit to India. He explained that during his travel that he was notified by email of the birth of his first grandchild and that she was named Mackenzie. I believe that was my sign!
A couple of weeks after the writer’s workshop, I called Pastor Blaisdell to ask questions about how to get my writing organized to begin the process of writing the book that I felt compelled to write. He suggested that I send him my manuscript. Ha! I had journaled from the day Kenzie left us, but certainly had no manuscript. He encouraged me to send what I had written. About a week later, he sent back four chapters of my book by basically just plugging in my stories where they seemed to align. I was pleasantly surprised. He left me with the task of figuring out how to tie my thoughts and words together in some semblance of order and timeline and we emailed back and forth for approximately three months. Pastor Rick painstakingly edited every sentence for its punctuation not changing any of my words. He recognized how important it was to keep my voice in the story that I was writing. Rick kept referring to my book as his PROJECT JOY. When we finished the book together, these were his words, ”Let us release our faith together that it will touch many hearts and help with those others who have lost children”. I was gifted this enormous Godwink at the writer’s workshop, by being connected with someone who put a fire under me and helped me, since he had already been through the process. I gained a wonderful blessing, a new friend in Christ, Pastor Rick. An immeasurable PROJECT JOY, Rick. I am so grateful.

One Life To Give -- A compelling chronicle of faith in action and transformed lives

By
glenn cordner
This review is from: One Life to Give (Paperback)
One Life To Give is a book full of joy, thanksgiving, and wonder and probably unlike any other book you have read. It chronicles the work of a fearless man of God among often isolated peoples living lives consumed by profound spiritual and material poverty, suffering, fear, hopelessness, and unimaginable abuse and yet, ultimately, it is about victory over all of these! The Gospel's message of love, hope, dignity, healing, salvation and freedom transforms their lives for the here and now and for eternity. This is not a casual armchair read. You will find yourself drawn in and deeply affected.

The author's accounts offer powerful evidence of what God can do thru a man of giant faith who releases that faith to God completely in order that He may accomplish His miraculous purposes. Throughout the book there are countless testimonials to that faith and power.

Finally, the reader will enjoy the immediacy, the sense of sharing experientially everything as if in real time that is enabled by the author's use of the journal style of writing here. His descriptions of the spectacular views during his long flights and the atmospherics of these far- away lands are a feast for the senses and truly beautiful.

The work chronicled in One Life To Give has transformed many, many lives for eternity. The book itself is transformational. Prepare to be inspired. You will not be disappointed!
