Believe it or not, they usually just pop into my head without warning. I write from a very subconscious, instinctive place. Sometimes, on rare occasion, I have to look up baby names or myths in history to get a sense of what I want for the character or place, etc. But most of the time, I just hear it, as if the word always existed. You'll be happy to know that book 4 (The River of Time) has already been written, and I've even begun writing book 5 (The Book of Adin,) which will be a combination of a prequel and a sequel! However, I need to edit book 4 still, so it won't be out immediately. I'm shooting for either the end of the year (November) or the beginning of next year at the latest. It feels great to know I have readers who are eagerly awaiting the next book, so thanks, Gina! (less)

More of Lyra's books…
“Truth is not subjective, like some people think. There are basic truths that cannot be denied. I like to call them "Common Denominator Truths," such as the need to be loved, the need for warmth and shelter, the need for food and drink, and so on. These common core truths are at the center of being human, and no matter how much humanity tries to alter their own perception of what matters in this world, these basic truths cannot be ignored.”

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
I love not Man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne’er express, yet cannot all conceal.”
