Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1970, I have been writing for most of my life but have previously only had research papers and technical documents published. A cancer survivor, my day job is, ironically, as a biologist in a lab that looks for genetic markers for hereditary cancer. When not working or writing I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, reading, gaming and going to the movies.

So far, my only published works are the first two volumes of my Reflections series, The Face in the Mirror: a transhuman identity crisis and Chained Reflections. I plan a third volume Reflections of Hope for mid to late 2014. I also have a new project in mind for the following year but may also return to the Reflections setting at some point in the

I've only been able to restart work on it and I don't have a timetable on when it might be finished.
I'm glad you liked the first two books. I'd be even happier if you put a review on Amazon. I can't afford any book promotion and Amazon won't do anything on their own for books with less than fifty reviews.(less)

Chained reflections was discounted for a few days too. Unfortunately I've found advertising free promotions and discounts doesn't really increase readership much. Especially, when I have no money to pay for advertising. Nor do these deals seem to translate into more reviews that might get Amazon to promote my books (they don't promote anything with less than 50 reviews).
I do the promotion in hopes that some of the people who do find my work for free or discounted will like it enough to tell their friends. It also tends to create a short term boost in sales after the promotion ends due to the books coming up nearer the top of the search results in their categories. Unfortunately that boost in sales couldn't pay to advertise the promotion they come from. It might get me a trip to McDonalds if I'm lucky.(less)

For over a year now I've been dealing with disabling levels of back pain. I had up until a few months ago been able to continue writing because I could use a lap-top while lying down, as that was the only position that was not excruciatingly painful. Sadly, at the end of July other family crisis coupled with the physical, emotional, and financial toll of my health issues came to a head and I ha... Read more of this blog post »

Nice story, but it suffers from the usual teen hero problem.

Why is it that virtually every depiction of a teen hero has them keeping their powers from their parents? It inevitably leads to unnecessary family issues. Would the parents worry more if th

“Hi. I'm here to enlist.

You can't. You aren't human.
You see, little fella, we don't do sociological stuff like "interspeciated workplaces." We're a crack company of space mercenaries. We do "hurting people" and "breaking things."

Sounds like my kind of fun.
