Serena writes fantasy and books for young people:

Author of action-adventure STEM stories (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) for middle grade readers in the Finn's Fast Books series including Finn's Ship, Finn's Car, and Finn's Rocket. The high octane books are good, clean fun for younger readers but also contain enough realistic, fast-paced action to entertain the reluctant eighth-grade reader. Coming in 2016, look for Finn's Copter. When not writing for kids, you'll find Serena writing with friends on the mythical island of False Key, Florida--the fantasy setting for her series of speculative fiction which includes Somewhere South of Normal, Somewhere South of Sane, and coming in 2016, Somewhere South of Reason.

If you've been following my work, you may know I've wondered about the difference between writing for middle grade and for the young adult market. To me, the pat answer of "the age of the protagon...

Loved, loved, loved this sweet YA novel. This book got my daughter and me through Hurricane Irma. The story is set in Paris, and I admit it was fun to read about places she and I have visited. If you need a feel good novel, check this one out.

Read this one for book club. Parts were astonishing in their beauty. Other parts meh. The setting was the best part--a remote camp in Maine where an intergenerational story plays out against the unspoiled northern frontier.

Yeah this should be a movie. Super fast-paced thriller with awesome characters set in Paris. Perfect summer read with a little comment on politics.
