Ashley is a young twenty-something author at Ink Smith Publishing and has been spinning tales since she discovered that her wild imagination could make a career. She is a native to bookstores, coffee shops, the beach, and San Diego, CA. She also has an unexplainable aversion to clowns and describes outlines as a “proverbial noose.” Check out the Rising Shadows trilogy everywhere books are sold: Rising Shadows, Chasing Shadows, & Defying Shadows. Let me count the ways! ^_~ Will Taylor, obviously. His sweetness, kind heart, and desire to be loved just make me want to give him the world. I love watching Sarah grow from an insecure girl who didn't think before she acted, and into a strong and caring woman. And then there's Damien. *sighs* *cries* He definitely snuck up on me, and I did not expect to love him as much as I do. He's one of those characters that you know is good beneath the charming, cocky exterior, if only they would believe it themselves.

We meet again, my old foe! There is no perfect recipe for overcoming the block, though I do have a few blog posts on the subject on ashley-townsend.com. But the best way to deal with it is to change your scenery--take a break, breathe the fresh air, read a book, and just clear your head. You never know what will inspire you!(less)

YallWest—The Quest for the Ring & Bookish Things

It might have happened at the beginning of May (you know me and punctuality—in opposition like Cinderella and those pesky stepsisters), but I still wanted to share my 10-day experience earlier this month before my next journey. There is always so much to talk about when I go on a bookish trip, but one word to sum up YallWest and the Writer’s Sanctuary Retreat: EPIC!

“It’s true that life seems so more much exciting when you write it down as fantasy. But then again, there are some experiences in life that are simply too wondrous to be condensed into words. These are the things that must be felt in reality. The rest I will attempt to convey with the written word.”
Ashley Townsend

“Ours is a timeless love; it cannot be broken or shaken. rest assured that as long as there is breath in my lungs, as long as stars spread across heaven, I will never give up on this love.”
Ashley Townsend, Defying Shadows

“but wouldn't it be easier to let go?" she whispered brokenly, desperately.
"would it be easy to carve out a piece of my heart?" he shook his head. "no, you are a part of me now, and whether or not you are in this world, know that i will forever carry a piece of you with me.”
Ashley Townsend, Defying Shadows

Something heroic or wonderful that won’t be forgotten after I’m dead…
I think I shall write books.”

Hans Christian Andersen

“The writer who possesses the creative gift of fantasy owns something of which he is not always master; something that, at times, strangely wills and works for itself.”
Charlotte Bronte

“But when a young lady is to be a heroine, the perverseness of forty surrounding families cannot prevent her. Something must and will happen to throw a hero in her way.”
