By Natasza Waters
Tony Bale must stop a deadly virus before it’s launched on the United States, and resist an undefeatable desire to take Lumin’s innocence. Mission success probability: slim.
Since their brief meeting, Lumin Edenridge can’t squelch her dreams of the handsome Navy SEAL who moved through her life like a shadow. “What’s going on?” Tony asked.
“I think I’m in big trouble. You need to tell me what to do.” The signal cut out, and her heart leaped into her throat. “Are you still there?”
“I’m here, sweetheart, what kind of trouble?” he asked, his voice hardening. “Is it Quadero? Did he find out you helped us?”
The adult voices in the background ceased.
“No, it’s not Quadero. Where are you?”
“In Mexico. Nina and Mace just got married. Are you in Las Vegas?”
Lumin hooked her fingers in a strand of hair, tugging to replace her rampaging fear with pain. She hesitated.
“Don’t hang up,” Tony commanded as if sensing her misgivings. “You can tell me, Lumin. I can hear you’re scared. Whatever it is, you’re not alone, okay?”
“Do you know what Yersinia Pestis is?” she blurted.
A deep rumble from Tony’s throat preceded his answer. “The Bubonic Plague.”
“Yes. In the Middle Ages it was passed through contact, but imagine if it were engineered into an airborne virus and mutated every thirty-six hours. It would kill millions of people.” She licked her dry lips. “I think they’ve made one.”
“The Bubonic Plague is a bacteria, and who is they, Lumin?”
“I—don’t know who they are, but I think they know who I am.” Her voice stuttered. “You must have contact with people who can look into this. I heard a name, Dr. Clifford Bjornson. That might lead you somewhere. I have to go.”
“Wait! How do these people know you?”
Lumin dropped the sheet and reached for her dress. She pulled it over her head. Squeezing the phone between her ear and shoulder, as she did up the buttons she said, “Because Dr. Bjornson’s partner is lying dead in my bed.”

I grew up on the beautiful West Coast of British Columbia with the Pacific Ocean on my western doorstep, and thousands of acres of forest on the other. After finishing school, my life took a drastic twist, and a lifelong working relationship with the marine industry began.
After a twenty-year hiatus from my creative writing, the stories swirling in my mind began to swim hard to resurface, and I threw them a life ring. I juggle my creativity during my days off, and then get back down to business, working in Vancouver Harbour. My life is a mix of creativity vs. black and white procedures. With a lifetime of working in the marine community, there’s plenty of stories to tell. It’s a different world, different language, unsung heroes and heroines aplenty, heated moments, and blissful silence when all is well. Reading and writing is the way I turn down the loud hum that my work causes, and after thirty years of humming, it’s time to vent.

I’m very excited to showcase SIREN TAMER, the exciting new YA Paranormal by Sofia St. Angeles, which released October 28, 2014. Please take a minute to read what Siren Tamer is about and also enjoy an excerpt from the novel. I’m sure you’re going to want to obtain a copy of this excellent book from this new, up and coming author.
Book 1 of the Siren Tamer Series
By Sofia St. Angeles
I’m a Siren Tamer and she’s my Siren. We’re a legendary matched set that only occurs once every thousand years. When we’re together we’re at peace, and can conquer the world—literally. Apart, I can’t stop thinking about her, and . . . she could accidentally kill herself.
Crazy, huh? Well, it gets even better.
We know nothing of our powers. The few people who do know, have kept it from us our entire lives. But now, they know I’ve heard The Whisperings, and they’re running into some issues. One: How do they tell us what we’re capable of? And two: How can they get my Siren to stop hating my guts?
“Are you sure he said he was coming today?”
My best friend, Rowem, was still quite concerned I might have dreamed the whole thing.
“Yes. And he said to have everyone ready.”
“For what exactly?”
I was pretty sure Rowem was just making fun of me now because he could. I had been a nervous wreck for the last two days. It still wasn’t clear to me what Nemmin was coming here for, and now I had all twenty-five leaders of the Band of Brothers gathered together for some unknown purpose. Try gathering a meeting during planting season with a big “I don’t know” for a reason. I used the only tactic I knew would work: food. And lots of it.
“I already told you,” I sighed at Rowem. “Now take off, and try not to embarrass me.”
He gave me a cross-eyed salute. “Yes, sir!”
I threw a roll at his chest.
The Band of Brothers was a group borne of necessity. Because of the sacrifice of our fathers, the patriarchal role had fallen to us, the eldest sons. It was incumbent upon us to protect our people, build our villages and city, and— to some degree— participate in the leadership and government of our lands. Responsibility for our people fell on us and we took it seriously.
Stepping forward, I tried not to show how intimidated I felt. “Welcome, Chief Captain Nemmin. This is my Band of Brothers. We are honored to have you here.” I extended my hand to the soldier standing on the right . He wore the bronze cuff of a captain, yet he was our age. He didn’t move an inch, if you didn’t count the narrowing of his eyes as he glanced from my outreached hand and back to the spot in space he’d been looking at. It was just a minute movement of the eyes but it spoke volumes.
Just then, Nemmin’s Striker arrived, flanked by the Strikers of two other Kahlotah soldiers, who appeared to be our age. After dismounting, they came to stand in front of us as we fell into loose ranks. We’d gathered on our makeshift ball field south of the city plaza.
I knew some animosity had developed between some of the Kahlotah and us . They resented the fact that their armies had been used to protect the Anonlah , who had once been their enemies. Who could blame them? I didn’t. I’d never witnessed the rancor up close and personal, though.
Drawing my hand back, I glanced over at Nemmin. His eyes seemed to apologize. I stepped back into the ranks. Nemmin stepped forward.
“Greetings, gentlemen . I appreciate that you were able to assemble so quickly,” he said. “I acknowledge I didn’t leave Gideon with much information or time to arrange this meeting but, as you will come to know, secrecy was preferable in this case.” Nemmin circled our group with a keen assessing eye. “The reputation that precedes you is an impressive one. Great enough to have reached the recruiter of the king of the Kahlotah, and notable enough to supersede a waiting list of many qualified Kahlotah hopefuls.”
We may all have been at attention, but the sound of the gears turning in our heads was nearly audible.
“A situation has arisen that requires our great king to make an extended journey. Of course, he has the royal guard to accompany him, but, as you may know, the king has a daughter, Princess Aliya. Nothing is more precious to His Majesty than the princess is, as his wife and son have gone on to The Great Spirit. King Marxius has assigned me the task of finding an exceptional team of warriors to form a guard assigned to Princess Aliya in his absence. You will be that team.”

I’ve reviewed best selling author, Merry Farmer’s, historical romantic novella Sarah Sunshine and have provided my review along with details on this wonderful story. Look around, get to know this talented author, read an excerpt from her enjoyable book, and then hurry to one of the book sellers listed below to get your copy.
By Merry Farmer
After five years working at the saloon, Sarah Withers is a free woman. The shame of her past is behind her and nothing but blue skies lie ahead. But when her plans to become a respectable woman collapse under the weight of old wounds and fresh battles, her worst fears seem realized. The joy of her life and light of her heart, Roy, couldn’t possibly love a fallen woman like her, could he?
Roy LaCroix’s future seems made. Delilah Reynolds has made him manager of her new hotel. The only thing he needs to fill his days with sunshine is Sarah. But dark clouds line the horizon when Sarah stumbles into a twenty-year-old feud as it breaks hearts in the present. Roy must stay true to himself and his love for Sarah to stop a bitter past from repeating itself before it’s too late.
Sarah peeked in through the window, a rack of ready-made dresses catching her eye. She sighed with longing. Once she’d earned some money working for Miss Jones, she’d come back to the general store and buy some pretty clothes, like Mrs. West wore. Then everyone in Cold Springs would forget what she used to be. She’d fit in right and proper.
With a smile of promise, she turned and headed back to the saloon. It was still warm in spite of the chill in the air. November was only a few days old, and it had been an unseasonably warm autumn. Today was a perfect day for moving – moving out of the saloon and moving on with her life. She hopped up onto the saloon porch with joy in her heart.
The sound of sweeping from the old hotel, across the alley from the saloon, caught that joy and fluttered it all through her.
“Good morning, Roy.” She swayed to the end of the porch, cheeks flushing pink.
Roy LaCroix stopped mid-sweep and met her eyes across the alley. The hotel porch was several feet above where she stood, and looking up at him—tall and handsome and smart as a tack in his dark blue bellhop uniform—was like looking up at an angel. Especially when a smile lit his face from ear to ear.
“Good morning, Sarah.” He straightened to his full height and tipped his round bellhop hat to her, replacing it on his head at a rakish angle. “You’re looking awful pretty this morning.”
“Thanks.” She blushed and lowered her eyes, glancing up at him through her lashes.
Roy LaCroix was just about the nicest, sweetest man in all of Montana. He was built strong for a bellhop with arms that could hold a woman and make her feel right. He had the most dazzling brown eyes too, with long lashes and a sparkle that set her insides quivering. It didn’t feel like work at all when he came to the saloon to visit her. In fact, those were the very best evenings of all.
“You’re contract’s up today, isn’t it?” he said. He set his broom aside and ambled to the end of the hotel porch to lean against the railing, hands in his pockets. The sunlight gave his brown hair a warm reddish glow under his blue cap.
Sarah kept her head bowed modestly as she answered, “Yes, it is.”
Roy’s smile widened. “I’m awful glad to hear it.”
“Are you?” She could feel the warmth of his gaze as surely as the sun.
“Well, I’ll be sorry not to spend time with you,” he answered, a blush spreading across his face. “You wanna go for a picnic later, maybe?” His eyebrows rose with the question.
“Why, yes, I would.” Her heart bounced to her gut then back up again. Roy LaCroix was asking her on a picnic. The amazing thought filled her for two seconds before her smile and her shoulders dropped. “Oh, but I can’t. I’m moving my things over to the boarding house this morning and then I’ve got to work.”
Roy’s gallant joy dropped to a frown. “But I thought you said your contract was up. You’re not still … working, are you?”
Sarah giggled, pressing a hand to her mouth.
“No, no, not like that.” Tickles of hope spread from her chest to her toes as Roy’s smile returned. “I’m gonna be working for Miss Jones now, cleaning and mending and things. Mr. Sutcliffe arranged it. A woman’s got to have gainful employment if she’s gonna make her own way in the world.”
“But you’re definitely not … entertaining no more?” The spark in Roy’s eyes vacillated between relief and disappointment.
She shook her head, pressing a hand to her hot cheek. “The only man I’ll ever entertain like that for the rest of my days is my husband, and that’s the truth.”
As quick as she said it, a wave of bashfulness swirled over her. She lowered her eyes and bit her lip, then peeked up at Roy. He had that hungry look in his eyes—that look he had when he came to the saloon. It sent prickles across her skin.
Sarah Withers is finally free from her contract after working at the town’s saloon for the past five years. Determined to become a respectable woman to win the heart of the love of her life, Roy LaCroix, she turns to the town’s Bible-quoting spinster to help her achieve her goal. However, when a twenty-year-old feud between the spinster and the saloon owner comes to light, Sarah unwittingly becomes an instrument for revenge. Sarah’s respectability and hopeful future with Roy is put in jeopardy when her mentor weaves her cruel plan.
This entertaining historical romance, which takes place in Montana in the late 1800’s, is a unique and heart-warming view of the trials of true love when bound by the stringent standards of society. Merry Farmer demonstrates her talent for writing by crafting a creative storyline filled with love, compassion, tolerance, and humor. She combines the narrow-minded prejudice and austere mores of the time with the innate goodness of man and transforms them into a delightful love story that has the reader rooting for the happily ever after.
The characters are appealing and come to life on the pages. With no lulls or overly descriptive areas, the plot flows smoothly as the reader follows the protagonists’ journey to lasting happiness. This lighthearted novella is delivered with style and finesse, leaving no ends unfinished. Sarah Sunshine is a captivating romance that not only warms the heart and lifts the spirits, but also leaves one with a smile long after the last page is read.

I’m very excited to welcome back best selling author Steven Manchester. His newest novel, Pressed Pennies, was released on May 13, 2014, and Steven was kind enough to provide us with some information and an excerpt.
Steven’s has won numerous awards for his novels and has been #1 on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s best seller lists. I will be providing a review of Pressed Pennies in the near future, in the meantime, please read below about Steven’s fantastic new book, then hurry to one of the book sellers listed to grab your copy.
Rick and Abby grew up together, became best friends, and ultimately fell in love. Circumstance tore them apart in their early teens, though, and they went on to lives less idyllic than they dreamed about in those early days. Rick has had a very successful career, but his marriage flat-lined. Abby has a magical daughter, Paige, but Paige’s father nearly destroyed Abby’s spirit.
Now fate has thrown Rick and Abby together again. In their early thirties, they are more world-weary than they were as kids. But their relationship still shimmers, and they’re hungry to make up for lost time. However, Paige, now nine, is not nearly as enthusiastic. She’s very protective of the life she’s made with her mother and not open to the duo becoming a trio. Meanwhile, Rick has very little experience dealing with kids and doesn’t know how to handle Paige. This leaves Abby caught between the two people who matter the most to her. What happens when the life you’ve dreamed of remains just inches from your grasp?
Pressed Pennies is a nuanced, intensely romantic, deeply heartfelt story of love it its many incarnations, relationships in their many guises, and family in its many meanings. It is the most accomplished and moving novel yet from a truly great storyteller of the heart.

Beneath a wet sky, the rest of the night was spent getting caught up. For Rick, it felt like old times—even though he had no idea who Abby was as an adult.
They reminisced first about Rick’s grandma and father. “So how are they?” Abby asked. “I always loved them, you know.”
He smiled. “Dad lives in New Hampshire now, working with delinquent kids.”
She smiled, her head cocked. “Did he ever remarry?”
“No. He’s never stopped loving my mom enough to pursue another woman. I guess in his own way he still grieves her death.”
Abby’s mouth twisted slightly, forming itself into a frown; she was clearly touched by the undying love the man had for his wife.
“I think Grandma’s right,” Rick added. “When my dad passes, I’m betting that he and my ma will spend eternity making up for lost time.”
Abby nearly cooed at the sweet sentiment. “I’ll never forget his dog, Roy,” she said.
Rick took a sip of beer and chuckled. “Believe it or not, he actually has Roy’s grandson now—Ray.”
She shook her head and laughed. “Roy and now Ray. What was the dog’s name in between?”
Abby was sent into a state of hysterics.
Rick shrugged and laughed along with her.
“And Grandma?” she asked, regaining her composure.
Rick nodded. “Still spry and spunky…just a really cool person. You know her motto: ‘The body doesn’t wear out, it rusts.’ She’s still listening to her music and raising holy hell.”
Abby smiled at the familiar phrase.
“And she got married,” Rick said.
“Yep. His name is Bill Stryker and they’re perfect for each other.” He took another swig of beer. “She still makes me sit for dinner every Sunday.” Rick then asked about Abby’s parents.
There was a sad pause. “My mom passed away,” Abby said, “from a lack of purpose, I’d say. And I haven’t spoken to my father for a few years now.” She tried to shake off the pain. “We no longer share a relationship… just some really bad memories. I imagine he’s still committing suicide the long way.”
“Yup, still doing laps in his bottle.”
Rick put his beer on the table and quickly changed the subject.
“Have you heard from any of the old Wilbur Avenue gang?”
Abby’s smile returned. “From what I hear, Vinny became an attorney and is living with his wife in Vermont.” She thought for a moment. “I don’t know how anyone could stand to live with him.”
“Tracy became a psychologist and moved to Utah.”
“Married?” Rick asked.
“A-sexual, I think.”
They both laughed. Rick couldn’t stop staring at her great smile and adorable dimples.
“Actually, I heard she lives with her lesbian lover and goes by the new name Cheyenne.”
“You’re kidding me, right?”
Abby shook her head.
“Good for her,” Rick said.
“But I haven’t heard anything about Grant,” Abby added.
Rick leaned forward. “You’re not going to believe this, but the first day I walked into college…there was Grant talking to some pretty, unsuspecting freshman.”
Abby shook her head.
“I still see him every Tuesday night,” Rick said. “We shoot a little pool and a whole lot of bull.”
She was shocked. “How is he?”
“The same…emotionally amputated; socially challenged.”
As the laughter continued, she asked, “Do you remember the last time your dad brought us all to Lincoln Park? Believe it or not, I still think about that sometimes.”
“Are you kidding?” Rick said. “I could live a hundred lifetimes and never forget that day!” And without his permission, his mind immediately raced back to the smack of screen doors and the echoes of foolish, barefooted children running toward the future.

Please help me welcome multi-published author Jerrie Alexander, whose newest book, NO CHANCE IN HELL was released on April 20, 2014. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to review NO CHANCE IN HELL, which you can read below, and to have Jerrie agree to an interview so we may all get to know her better.
Thank you, Jerrie, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to join us today.
I’m thrilled to join you this morning! Hanging out with friends is always fun.
Please tell us a little something about you.
I love to write about alpha males and kick-ass women. I let them weave their way through death and fear to emerge stronger because of, and on occasion in spite of, their love for each other. If they’re strong enough, they live happily ever after.
My husband and I live outside of Ft. Worth, Texas, where my brother refers to as the ‘boonies.’ Our awesome daughter and her husband presented us with a granddaughter. She helps me brainstorm when I’m developing a title for a book, even though she’s way too young to read any of them.
It’s so wonderful that you have a close relationship with your granddaughter. Besides having her brainstorm with you, what is the most thrilling aspect of writing for you?
Other than, say typing the end? Just joking, I enjoy the satisfaction of completing the project, but the most fun ever is logging onto my email and finding that a reader has contacted me!
Last week, I received an email from a reader who lives in Australia. How cool is that! She took the time to reach out and let me know she’d read No Chance in Hell and loved it. There’s no greater high than that…not for this writer.
Absolutely. It’s so exciting when a reader takes the time to tell you how much they like something you’ve written. Speaking of writing, how do you begin your stories? Do you plot and outline or do you just sit down and start writing?
Great question. Just the word plot sends shivers up my spine. I envy people who can do that. For me it’s a slow process. I have to come up with an idea that is plausible and then research like crazy. Then I sit down, develop a profile for each character, and then start writing. I let my characters direct their own story.
After a drunk driver killed Marcus Ricci’s wife while he was deployed in Afghanistan, he closed up emotionally. Working at Lost and Found, Inc., he lands a puzzling case with too many missing pieces. A killer is closing in on the woman Marcus is supposed to protect. Guarding the beautiful Chris is his job—and he’s one of the best—but keeping her close without letting her inside, makes it hard to protect his heart.
A murderer took the only family Chris Holland had left. When her sister’s killer comes after Chris, she turns to the Lost and Found agency for help. As she and Marcus Ricci dig into her background, they’ll discover surprises that shake everything she believes to be true about her past.
Forced together day and night, passion ignites, and Chris falls for Marcus. He’s a loner and not interested in a permanent relationship. When her case is over, he’ll go back to his solitary life. Just a man and his dog.
Another excellent romantic suspense. Where did you get your inspiration for your books?
Truth? After I finish writing a book, I agonize that I’ll never again have an original idea. I’ll pour over FBI profile books and read every story in the newspaper. Once something piques my interest, the research starts. For example, I read big events like the Super Bowl or World Series increases human trafficking in the host city. In fact, it skyrockets. That was the trigger for Hell or High Water.
You have written many terrific books, and we’re sure you have favorite parts in each of them, but what is your favorite part of No Chance in Hell?
Now that the book is out, my favorite part has to be Diablo! I’d never given an animal a pivotal role in one of my books, but his transformation had to play a role in No Chance in Hell. While I was writing the story, I kept forgetting him! I’d be working, writing away and stop. Where’s the dog? :) But Diablo turned out to be my favorite part of the book.
I have read many of your books and have never been disappointed. No Chance in Hell is no exception. Would you mind sharing an excerpt from your book to spark everyone’s interest?
Thank you. And thanks for asking for an excerpt.
Chris Holland’s eyes flew open. The room was pitch black. She always left the light in the kitchen on. It should have been burning brightly. Her muscles tightened, coiled, ready for her to spring out of bed. She slipped her hand under her pillow, reaching for the cool butt of her gun. She found nothing. Before she could react, something hard pressed into her temple.
“Looking for this?” a male voice whispered.
A wave of terror washed through her, filling her with emotions she’d never experienced. She didn’t think for one second that he was a burglar. This was the murdering bastard who’d butchered Chelsea.
“You’d better use it now. If I get out of this bed, I won’t be as easy to kill as my sister.”
He made a low-pitched sound that filled her veins with ice. Had he actually chuckled?
The tip of the pistol pressed deeper into her skin.
“Calm down. I didn’t come to kill you. But it’s time we talked.”
“You mean like over a cup of coffee?” Chris did her best to keep her voice steady. No doubt, he’d heard the tremble in her words. “Put down the gun, and I’ll go put on a pot.”
He wouldn’t accept her offer, and she knew it. But it might buy her some time. If she could get to the kitchen, she might get to the weapon hidden in the back of a drawer of utensils. Chris lifted her shoulders, as if trying to rise.
“You really didn’t think I’d fall for that.” A gloved hand stroked her cheek, sending her into a full-body shiver. “Your sense of humor is refreshing.”
Chris strained to see some part of him in the dark. Anything that might wake up her memory would be helpful. “How’d you get in?”
“I can’t give away all my secrets, but I found you again, didn’t I? Suffice it to say, I’m a great deal smarter than you think. The only reason you’re still alive is because I want you that way.”
“Do not push me. You think you’re so much better than I am. Growing up in the lap of luxury, you never had to worry about your next meal. Some of us were lucky to eat once a day.” His soft tone had turned hard, menacing. “I’ll be back. When depends on you. If you make new friends over here in your new neighborhood, let them hang around you, I will kill them. It would be a mistake to bring them into your home.”
The pressure eased on her temple, and icy lips brushed her forehead. Something covered her nose and mouth. “Breathe.”
She fought his command, holding her breath. A sharp blow landed to her abdomen, and she gasped, inhaling deeply.
That excerpt definitely leaves the reader wanting to find out what happens next. If they haven’t had a chance to read any of your books, they will surely want to read this newest one. We’ve learned about your writing, now we’d like to know a little more about you. Describe your typical day.
Right now, I’m constantly moving! We’re doing some house renovations, and I seem to be in the way a lot. We have to stop watching Property Brothers on HGTV. (But aren’t they gorgeous?)
Typically, I’ll have a cup of coffee with Buddy. He’s our rescue dog, meaning he saved us. :) Then I start on social media. I enjoy staying in touch with friends and readers. Then I’ll write or research a while before mixing in a little housework. We live a fairly quiet life out here in the ‘boonies’.
Agreed. The Property Brothers are gorgeous. If you could spend a week anywhere, where would you go and what would you do during that week?
Ireland! My ancestry traces back to a family named Boyde. It was later changed to Boyd, my maiden name. I’d love to have my own personal guide, so I wouldn’t miss a thing. It would be awesome to walk the ground he and his family walked.
That sounds fabulous. And you’ve decided on a male guide – even better. Where was I? Talking about men always make me lose my place. Oh, right – back to the interview. What genre do you like to read, and who are some of your favorite authors?
I love romantic suspense. Allison Brennan and Cindy Gerard are great authors. Truth be told, I want to be Linda Howard when I grow up. :) She writes the best contemporary romantic suspense ever. My guilty pleasure is historical romance. It’s a fun break from the suspense and Elizabeth Hoyt can sweep me away to a different era.
Great choices. They’re all fantastic authors. If you could have any three wishes granted, what would they be?
It’s selfish, but my first would be that my husband’s health remain strong. He’s been ill, but he’s is doing much better.
Second would be my family’s well being.
Third would be that no child go to bed hungry or afraid.
None of your choices are selfish. I know your husband has been ill for some time, and I’m so glad to hear he’s doing better. Maybe, our readers will say some prayers to help make your wish come true. And if we all try, maybe all your wishes will come true. What are you currently working on, and when can we expect your next book?
I’m half way through book one in a new series. My books are written to stand alone…no cliffhangers…but each secondary character has his or her own book. I’m also searching for an idea for book four in the Lost and Found, Inc. series.
It’s not unusual for me to have two projects going at one time. Keeps me from getting bored. :)
Favorite dessert – Blue Bell ice cream
Pet Peeve – Rude customer service people
Favorite pastime – Spending time with my granddaughter and her mother
Favorite feature on a man – His smile
Least favorite household chore – Bathroom duty. I hate cleaning the toilet!
Something you like about yourself – Whew. Tough one. Have to be my snarky sense of humor.
Tall, dark & handsome or blonde & gorgeous – Oddly enough, I usually write tall, dark & handsome. I married blonde and handsome.
~~~Review of No Chance in Hell~~~
Chris Holland has been running from her sister’s killer for two years, but the killer always seems to locate her. When he finds her latest hideout and issues a threat, she decides to turn to the Lost and Found, Inc. to help her find the killer and bring him to justice. Marcus Ricci is given the task of protecting Chris and helping her. Closed off emotionally after his wife’s untimely death, Marcus finds himself drawn to Chris even though he’s held himself apart from people.
No Chance in Hell takes off running from the very first page and doesn’t let up until the thrilling climax. Jerrie Alexander demonstrates her talent for words by crafting yet another highly suspenseful love story with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and interested. The main characters are well developed and likeable, including Marcus’ dog Diablo, who has a large part in the story and is awesome. However, don’t let the cuteness of the dog throw you. The reader’s pulse quickens and heart pounds as the villain splashes his evil thoughts and deeds on the pages of this novel.
The heat, suspense, and romance that fill this story bring out a myriad of emotions that keep the reader turning the pages rapidly. A thrilling ride that will have you rooting for the happily ever after between the sexy, lamenting hero and the tough, determined heroine. A definite must read.
Dreams of Perfection
by Rebecca Heflin
What if perfection isn’t truly perfect?
Best-selling romance writer, Darcy Butler, is holding out for perfection in the form of her own carefully-crafted heroes. Once blissfully engaged to be married, Darcy’s post-traumatic commitment phobia is depriving her of the very thing she wants most: her very own happily-ever-after. Now, here she is just six months shy of her thirtieth birthday, and not a Prince Charming in sight.
Successful lawyer, Josh Ryan, is the boy-next-door with a soft spot for the less fortunate, and Darcy’s best friend without benefits. Darcy often comes to him lamenting her love-life, or the lack thereof, whereupon Josh patiently doles out his sage advice. Problem is Josh is in love with Darcy.
But when Darcy finds herself looking into the handsome face of the man who graces the cover of her soon-to-be-released novel, she’s convinced her dreams of perfection have come true. Or have they?
By Babette James
The Fourth of July is over, but for these summer lovers the fireworks have just begun.
An unexpected inheritance brings business consultant Christopher Gordon from Los Angeles to quaint Falk’s Bend. He’s carved a week from his demanding schedule to list his great-grandparents’ house for sale and explore his roots. However, disturbing family secrets and the sweet temptation of writer Margie Olsson derail his plans, challenging him to seize the elusive dream missing from his hectic life — love.
A recent brush with death shook Margie’s life, but not her dreams and she’s ready to move forward. Only, standing up to her loving, over-protective family isn’t easy. Helping Christopher explore the derelict mansion and unravel his grandmother’s mysterious past should be a harmless fun taste of independence. But when her experimental summer fling ignites into unexpected love, how can her small town dreams work with his big city life?
Margie’s soft mouth and her kisses, as sweet and shy as her voice, raised a tumult of unexpectedly intense and tender feelings.
And they’d just met.
Christopher groaned and wrenched his lips from hers. “I should probably apologize,” he murmured against her cheek. He hadn’t meant to kiss her, and he should get his hands off her. Now. But he held her close, relishing the soft, fascinating warmth of her in his arms too much to be sensible.
“I should have asked, or—” Or something.
“Truth? That was wonderful. And I would very much like another.”
“Yes.” Yes, to both, for him as well.
Determined to prove himself a gentleman, he held her lightly, taking only the kiss, sweet and slow and intense as the first.
But this kiss too had to end.
Christopher rested his forehead against hers. A big mistake, that kiss, but incredible. A chuckle escaped him.
“Just this day turned out so different than I planned this morning.”
“For me, too. A far better day. Thank you.”
An out-of-left-field, disconcerting thought clobbered him. “Shit.” He knew nothing about his roots here…He yanked his hands away.
“What’s the matter?”
Feeling foolish, he had to ask. “We’re not related, are we?” Be just his luck if she ended up being some sort of cousin…
Margie’s laughter rang out. “No, not at all.”
“Thank goodness.” Christopher shifted, hooking thumbs into his pockets to keep his hands in check.
Horror Erotic Romance
Not good enough for heaven but not bad enough to burn, Kylie has a slight problem. She’s dead and trapped between the realms.
Left with no options, she follows Detective Liam Stone on the hunt for her killer. Death has left Kylie invisible but does nothing to dampen her desire for the sexy detective. Instead, it gives her the freedom to do as she pleases with his body, and what a delicious body it is.
Liam’s determined to solve Kylie’s case but as the clues uncover an underground world of demonic torture and pacts, Liam must face his own secrets or the flames of passion won’t be the only ones the couple will have to face.
Inside Scoop: Parts of this tale are graphically violent, but other parts might leave you drooling for a ghost or a demon of your own. Look out for the brief but hot F/F scenes in the bedroom and the shower.
She died on this corner. It seemed strange it would be right here where she caught the bus each morning and evening. She couldn’t recall why she had been there at that exact time but it didn’t change the outcome. She was dead.
She had been brought up to believe things would be different when this day came. There would be light, trumpets…peace. Kylie had none of those things. Instead, she stood looking down at her lifeless body in shock. Maybe this is what happens when you’re murdered. That thought lingered on the outer rim of her disbelief.
“At least my nails still look good,” she said tilting her head to get a better look at the rounded pink tips she’d gotten done the day before. At her statement, the man hovering over her empty shell lifted her hand from the ground and inspected her nails.
“It doesn’t look as if she tried to defend herself.”
No shit Sherlock, she thought with a roll of her eyes. She craned her neck attempting to get a better look at the man’s face. He was big and rugged looking, as if he hadn’t shaved in at least a week. The beginnings of a dark beard covered his chin but in a harsh contrast to his dark hair, his eyes were a light blue almost exactly the same shade as the sky. He was a sexy one she realized with a pang of regret for the life she had lost.
“Thank God I wore my good panties.”
He lifted her skirt. “Underwear’s still in place. She doesn’t appear to have been raped.”
“Put that down you dirty little bastard. Sheesh! Who is this guy?” He dropped the material and smoothed it down over her knees. It was a sad day when a girl ended up murdered on a street corner and couldn’t even hold onto her modesty afterward. Damn, why hadn’t someone as sexy as him wanted to check out her girly bits while she’d still been able to enjoy it? Typical.
