Happy Tuesday!

Good morning, everybody! I hope you all had a great weekend and a good beginning of the week. As I mentioned last time, I struggle with a serious and debilitating disease called chronic fatigue syndrome. Many know what it is and many don't, so let me give you some background. It is an autoimmune/neuroimmune disease which attacks the bodys' own tissues and organs. There is a wide array of symptoms, way too many to go into here, but the main ones are debilitating fatigue, brain fog, severe pain in the muscles, bones and joints, swollen glands under the chin, sore throat, fever, and headaches of a new or different pattern. Sounds like the flu, right? Hardly. Try to think of the worst flu you have ever had and multiiply it by about ten and you'll know just how serious this is. In recent years, reasearch has shown there are genetic components to the disease such as damaged DNA and damaged mitochondria. (The "powerhouse" of the cell responsible for cellular respiration.) I like to explain it with a story of the spoons. When I wake up in the morning, I am given ten spoons. I shower, dress and eat breakfast-and that's when I'm able to. That is three spoons used. I do the dishes and put them away. Again, that's if I'm able to. That's two more spoons. See where this is going? I've only been up an hour and I've already used half my spoons. I have to plan the rest of my day very carefully. There are times when just a simple shower wipes me out. I have found some relief from chronic fatigue syndrome through a unique method of chiropractic adjustment, which I will explain later. Although I am not cured, I am in a much better place than I was nine years ago when I was first diagnosed. For more information on chronic fatigue syndrome, visit solvecfs.org. They are a wonderful organization dedicated to helping those of us who suffer and there is a lot of good information there. Have a great day! Until next time :)

Five More Days!

Well, five more days and my book will be at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the largest book fair in the world! Pray with me it does well so CFS sufferers get the help and respect the need and deserve! I thinking it will do well since they treat CFS over there. Hopefully the attendees will take an interest in another patient’s story. Can only hope. Have a wonderful evening everybody.
