Gripping Romantic Adventure!!, May 23, 2013

by psegj

This review is from: Moonlight: The Big Bad Wolf (Black Swan 4) (Kindle Edition)

“What is this?” she asked, running her hand over the jacket. “Sheepskin.” She looked at him with genuine amusement. “So when you wear this, you’re literally a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

There are so many “Quotes” I Love in this book. This is one of my favorites. Victoria has pure genius. Her writing just draws you in. I sighed, cried, laughed out loud!!!! I sat on the edge of my seat. I was so entertained. I say Harry Potter look out because The Order of the Black Swan is here!!! I believe these are the books to read.

If you want adventure, suspense, Romance, Action, Dimension travel, Did I mention True Love!!!

I have been reading since I was 13 (41 years ago). I have read tens of thousands of books.  I have my favorite Authors. Truthfully Victoria is Now #1.

This book has a diverse set of personalities & characters!  Werewolves, Elves, Fae, Demons, Vampire, Berserkers, Witches, Lets not forget Knights. Hunky Knights at that!

Victoria grabs you from the 1st sentence to the last. I did not want to put it down! I have already read it twice, and no I did not miss anything because it is so gripping you just want to soak up every word!! Since reading this series I do not need Calgon to take me away anymore! Come join me in being a Forever Fan.

Thanks again psegj for writing a review! – Sarah

Ask Victoria – Fan Question on Song and Duff.

Hi there!  I just have to ask; will we see more of Song and Duff’s story in the next book?  I’m so wondering what will happen when Ram finds out the Elora’s been helping them!  Yikes! (7/30/2013)
Aelsong Hawking

Thanks!  Vicki Simpson

Hey Vicki -

Delighted to be asked and I’m pleased that you are invested in their story. You will not be seeing much about them in GATHERING STORM, except for references to the research Elora asked Glen to do. I can tell you what is planned at the moment, but only if you agree to accept that it is TENTATIVE. The various aspects of the saga seem to have their own ideas about when and how they want to be told.

For now and, again, – subject to change a little or a lot, there are two projects that come first. That would make them Books 6 (Solomon’s Sieve) and 7 (story plotted, title undecided). A TALE OF TWO KINGDOMS is too much story to be contained in one book. It will be told in two volumes, that would make them 8 (Part I) and 9 (Part II), but I will schedule release dates close together so that readers don’t have to wait long, probably late September and early November of 2014.

My Space

This was a guest post done by request as part of the Moonlight promotional tour. If you’re curious about what I see when I look up from the keyboard…

Workspace3

This photo represents my point of view when working. My space is a second story room over the garage. Although I have access from the house proper, I can close the doors when I leave for the day, effectively forming a barrier between work and home. One of the best features is that it’s heavenly quiet – unless the dog is barking, like right now. For me, quiet is essential to getting into the “zone” of reporting what’s happening in the world of Black Swan.

The room has big windows (one of which you can see here) plus three skylights right above me. One of the things you can’t see in the photo is that I have a huge red patio umbrella over my writing space that protects me from the afternoon heat of those skylights in summer months. Like right now. Having workspace with so much light is a dream come true for me. I spent enough time in a corporate environment without windows and promised myself that someday I would enjoy a workspace that didn’t depend on artificial light, with a view to something pretty.

The fireplace is wood burning, but we only get two or three days a year that are cold enough for a fire. Out of the photo, to my left there is another bookcase. Also full to overflowing. I don’t buy print books anymore, but there was a time when I used to keep libraries stocked with my gifts of used books.

About seven years ago I found a reception station in a used office furniture place by the railroad tracks. It surrounds me on three sides and allows me to feel cocooned with my stuff. (Yes. I straightened up the desk before taking the photo.)

Last, but not least, what you see on my monitor is a promotion for Black Swan, Book 5 which releases next month.

Review Spotlight! The Witch’s Dream by Nelta M

WDcover600x800

From Amazon.com

“Great Paddy”, You’re Gonna Love It!, October 8, 2012

by Nelta M

This review is from: The Witch’s Dream – A Love Letter to Paranormal Romance (Black Swan 2) (Kindle Edition)

“The Witch’s Dream” is the 2nd book in Victoria Danann’s Order of the Black Swan series…I would suggest reading “My Familiar Stranger” prior to reading “The Witch’s Dream” to have a better understanding of the characters and storyline ….The second in the series continues and evolves with the same characters you grew to love and introduces you to new characters that only enhance the journey of Bad Company and will surely delight us in the next book….Ms. Danann’s style captivates and brings you along for the ride. You find yourself laughing, giggling, holding your breath, and  drawn into the lives of the characters.  You are caught up in the hot and sexy world of vamps, elves, witches, demons, aliens and werewolves . It’s quite the combination and it works …

I thoroughly enjoyed reading both of the books in this series and can not wait to see what Ms Danann has in store for us next.

Victoria’s Notes:

Sarah chose this review to post today and I’m glad she did. It’s special to me, not just because of what it says, but because of who wrote it. Nelta was what I would call an early enthusiast. She was a Black Swan Street Team member before I’d every heard of street teams. Plus, if I was giving a prize for BEST REVIEW TITLE EVER!!!, this would definitely be it. Thank you for the support and encouragement and for helping me to believe that a few sales wasn’t a fluke.

Thanks again Nelta M for writing a review! – Sarah

Ask Victoria

Who is your favorite character?

I’ve made it no secret that Sir Rammel Hawking is my favorite. And he knows it. He uses it ito his advantage to manipulate me all the time. I can’t resist a beautiful, pointy eared, death-by-sex-appeal Irishman as well as a talented musician. Add his tireless sense of humor and I’m completely in love. He is in every book and probably always will be. One person recently told me that, if action figures of my characters ever come out, she wants to place a preorder for Ram. I have to agree with her. Because this saga has a lot of balls in the air (pun not intended, I swear). Ram is on the zigzag path of a hero’s journey in a classical sense. Add to that the fact that he is drop dead sex and a one-woman elf and, really, what more could you want? (3/9/2013)

RamTF

Victoria’s Postscript:

Well, really, I couldn’t want anything more. That must mean Ram is pretty close to my ideal male.

Review Spotlight! A Summoner’s Tale by Ellen

STcover600x800From Amazon.com

You need to add more Stars for this one!, July 24, 2013

by Ellen

This review is from: A Summoner’s Tale: The Vampire’s Confessor (The Order of the Black Swan, Vol. 3)

This is the third book in the Order of the Black Swan.  Again, I must stress it is best to read them in order.

I think this might be my favourite one so far, and I loved the others.  Perhaps I would give this one 5 stars plus.  The story had me at the edge of my seat for most of the book.  Both Baka and Elora had me biting my nails and frequently in tears.  I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned Blackie in my reviews of the previous books.  I suppose there are just so many wonderful characters and events in each book that it is hard to cover them all without spoilers.  And I don’t want anything to spoil your experience of these books.  That said, Blackie plays a very important part in this story.  It will make you hug your dog even more and if you don’t have a dog, this might make you go out and adopt one.

There are also so many unforgettable images in this book; the snow falling in an Irish forest, the howl of wolves, an infant’s cry.  This is a book about love, loyalty,  and sacrifice.  There are so many examples of incredible bravery in this story both human and nonhuman. A Summoner’s Tale is darker than the others in the series but is not without humour. We are now aware of what can be lost and how fragile existence can be.  Your whole life can change in an instant. Perhaps because it is darker, the joys are even deeper.

One final thing, NEVER FORGET YOUR CELL PHONE.

Victoria’s Notes:

This is simply one of my favorite reviews EVER. This reader is also a writer, but most importantly she expressed the exact sentiments I hoped would be the “take aways” when I was plotting and writing the book. How gratifying is that? It’s priceless.

I’ve made no secret of the fact that A Summoner’s Tale is special to me, the book that I shall always consider to be my masterpiece. And Ellen has named most of the reasons why. I can’t give this reader a prize, but I can share her thoughts with you.

Thanks again Ellen for writing a review! – Sarah

Ask Victoria!

What genres do you enjoy?

When I became enamored with paranormal romance – the result of reading A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole – I spent two years reading every PNR that had enjoyed any success so that I would know what had already been done and wouldn’t repeat it. You can’t create something unique without knowing what’s out there. (February 2013)

Victoria’s Postscript:

Since I answered that question in February of 2013, I have come to enjoy New Adult sometimes: Thoughtless Trilogy by S.C. Stephens, Real by Katy Evans. My guilty pleasure is biker porn like Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde. These biker books are the antithesis of everything I have stood for as a feminist and yet I’m as hypnotized as if they were coiled rattlesnakes. (7/23/2013)
