I have more ideas than I can possibly ever produce, so I know what I want to write, but I fear the actual process of writing for the simple reason that the product will be less than my vision.

The best way to beat this writer's anxiety is to write. Sit down, write one good sentence, and then another until the alchemy takes over and the words form a paragraph and then a scene and a story. (less)

The edition that caught my eye, and for more reasons than the cover (see the inscription on the title page below), is the 1976 mass market published by Vintage Books. The artist: Unknown (to me at least)

The Long Gray Goodbye by Bobby Underwood
“I hadn’t seen Krista Wallace for several years and the emotions it stirred when I did set eyes on her again surprised me. We had been a summer fling on the beaches of Ecuador, a brief yet sweet encounter before my intoxicating affair with Josselyn began. Perhaps the intensity of the latter had unfairly overshadowed the former.”
