A Trip to the Porch (2014)

This year I added one major project, the “Head” Stone, to my Halloween cemetery. In the last few days, I realized that I’d not made use of one of the new projectors I’d bought, so I also put together a video loop to project onto a portion of the house. Sorry that the video quality isn’t as good as usual.

A very engaging story of friendship in this re-telling of the tale of the Headless Horseman. I would have preferred a slightly faster pace for the plot, but that's just me.

The writing is beautiful, the characters feel real, and the plot keeps you guessing to the end. My only gripe is that it really boils down to a police procedural. With a couple of exceptions, that fact that Edgar's friend Max is a magician is largely ...more

I've been meaning to circle back to Raffel's books for a while now. I'm really glad I finally did. This story has great pacing and a strong narrative voice. Quite the page turner.
