Eiko La Boria was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She was named after the character, Eiko Tanaka in director Sydney Pollack's The Yakuza. She studied writing under the mentor-ship of Professor Jamal Joseph at Columbia University, New York City. She is a relative of the Puerto Rican poet, Juan Boria.

The Fame Shame Game: The Debut is her debut novel.

Her favorite quote is from Albert Einstein:
