“Found” emotional snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”
Totnesmartin- release this work into the public domain.
This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons.
Tabbruis could feel his heart skip a beat and Charmeine’s was turning flip-flops in her chest. Tabbruis and Charmeine looked at each other. Both with wonder in their eyes, they looked back at Shane. Tabbruis said, “You were there?”
Shane put his long hair over his shoulders and said, “I don’t know… everything was light and misty like we were in a cloud almost.”
Charmeine swallowed hard, “I know what you mean. You were there with us?”
Shane smiled and said, “Well yeah, but not exactly. This is where it gets just out there.
I heard Char call Tab…Tabbruis.
I heard Tab call Char…Charmeine.”
Dead silence…
******
Tabbruis and Charmeine just stared at him like statues.
Shane shook his head and said “It gets weirder guys.”
He took a big breath and swallowed.
Tabbruis and Charmeine
Shocked as Shane reveals his dream
“Char you had a baby in your arms, and I saw Tab or Tabbruis bend down to soothe the baby because it was crying. Tab or Tabbruis asked what you wanted to name the baby, and Char, you said… Shane.”
Charmeine started to feel the room spin and her eyes rolled into the back her head.
Like a flash of a falling star, Charmeine remembered being pregnant… the feeling of the baby growing inside her… the happiness when her baby was born… Tabbruis kissing the baby boy holding him in his arms…
Charmeine fell backwards in a faint and Tabbruis moved immediately to catch her.
Shane dove down to the floor and grabbed Charmeine’s head before it hit the floor.
Tabbruis started to administer little slaps to Charmeine’s face.
Shane was trembling and said, “Hey Char… come on. Please look at me Char. I’m sorry.”
Charmeine was coming around. She opened her eyes and saw Tabbruis and Shane. Charmeine knew in an instant that Shane was her and Tabbruis’ son.
She turned to Tabbruis and cried out, “Oh my God! It’s the truth Tabbruis! It’s the truth every word of it. I just remembered Tabbruis. I remembered carrying our baby. I remember giving birth to Shane. I remember how happy we were the day he was born. I remember how happy we were to have Shane and to be a family in Heaven! I remember! Tabbruis, Shane is our son!”
All the hundreds of years of pain and loneliness just came crashing down on Tabbruis like a tidal wave. He stared at Charmeine with stunned expression. Tabbruis staggered with the weight of her words and sat back on the floor not knowing what to say unable to speak.
Tabbruis knew Charmeine was telling the truth. He thought, ‘How could this young man before me be my son and I not know it?’
Tabbruis did not know what to do with all the emotions that were deep down inside of him.
Charmeine sat up holding Tabbruis’ arm and said, “Tabbruis, look into your heart and remember.”
Tabbruis closed his eyes and in that instant, he remembered seeing the sparkling blue eyes of the infant he cradled in his arms. Tabbruis opened his eyes and saw Shane’s bright blue eyes… They were his son’s eyes!
With one look, he knew Shane was his son! Tabbruis crushed Shane to his chest with a big hug. Tabbruis released Shane and cried while looking at him, “I cannot believe it, but it is true! I saw our son’s eyes when he was a baby, and I see them before me now! Shane! Oh my God, you are my son! You are my son!”
Shane was shaking he was stunned with emotions. He looked to Charmeine and said, “It’s true Char?”
Charmeine said choking through the tears, “Yes! Yes! It is true! I remember now! I remember expecting you Shane! I remember you being born! Yes! I remember how we were a family in Heaven!”
Tabbruis said, “Shane, my son. My God, I remember those eyes now.” He hugged Shane tightly again.
Shane welling in tears said, “I guess you’re my Dad, huh?”
Tabbruis said proudly, “Yes Shane, I am your Father.”
Shane pulled away and said to Charmeine, “You… you are my Mom? That’s a trip and a half!”
She said, “Shane, you are my Son!”
Tabbruis wrapped his arm around Charmeine and said, “Shane, your Mother and I have found you!” They all grabbed each other in a strong embrace.Tabbruis said, “Thank God, we have found each other at last! After a years of separation and loneliness, we are a family again!”
Shane sat back still with tears running down his face and said, “Why? Why did this happen to us? What happened?”
Tabbruis said, “Son, I do not know why we were all separated. Maybe we will find those answers to our questions. However, we are together now. That is all that matters. Our family is restored and reunited; we are all together again.”
Shane said, “It just hurts so much! I felt so damn lonely.”
Tabbruis said, “I know Son. We all felt alone in this world.”
He looked at Charmeine and she nodded.
Tabbruis continued and said, “I am sure we will find the answers to our questions. However, for now, let us dwell on the fact we are together now, today and in this moment.”
Charmeine just stared at the two, Father and Son back together again. Each of them so hurt by the separation but so happy they were together again.
Charmeine silently prayed, ‘Thank you God. Thank you for bringing Tabbruis’ Son back to him. Thank you Lord God, this is wonderful to my eyes.’
Charmeine took Tabbruis and Shane in her arms and felt relief and joy.
Entwined, all three sat there welling in tears and pouring out all the hurt, pain, and loneliness they all had into the universe. It was being replaced with joy, love, and a sense of belonging to a family.
Together their bond became so tight, they knew they would never be apart again.

I have loved this song since 1977…
I used to sing the song as a girl not even knowing what the words were about!
We have all felt alone…
We have all felt not loved…
My thought for today is to reach out…
I bet you will make someone feel loved and not lonely anymore!

“Reveal of Tabbruis” snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”
Tabbruis looked into Shane’s eyes and said, “Shane, first I need to explain that I am an orphan too. I woke up on a rock in the desert many centuries ago with only the knowledge of my name. I did not know where I was from or how I got there. Charleen understood because that is exactly how it happened to her but she cannot remember anything past 1997, except for a dream.” Tabbruis and Charmeine smiled at each other.Shane’s piercing blue eyes were suspicious and looked over to Charmeine then once he saw her eyes, he acquiesced with a nod.
Tabbruis took a breath and said, “When I woke up, I learned I was not a human. I needed blood to live on.”
Shane took a quick breath of disgust.
Charmeine looked him in the eye and said, “He’s telling the truth Shane. I told you that part last night. However, you said you wanted to know what was going on. Well, you can either listen or leave.”
Shane sighed and drank almost all of his coffee and said, “Well, Char said something like that last night, but I can’t do this without more coffee… Go on Tab.”
Charmeine took the coffee cup and made him a second cup and handed it to him.
Tabbruis said, “Just like your body runs on food, I run on blood. For a long time I hunted humans to survive because I thought that was my destiny. However, I stopped because I could not inflict harm anymore. I made a conscious choice to only drink animal blood and drink human blood if it was donated.”
Shane nodded his head and said, “So that is why Char… had a blood pack holding it to your face last night?”
Charmeine blushed and Tabbruis said, “Yes, that is why Shane.” Tabbruis looked at her and realized last night she had not offered her blood until she had no other option to do so. He felt ashamed, but Tabbruis set aside his feelings of embarrassment and concentrated on telling the story to Shane.
Tabbruis looked at Shane and said, “She was trying to revive me, I had sustained such a loss of blood…”
Shane interrupted him and said, “Hey Tab, I know. I’m the one who cleaned up the Charger last night until 2:00 in the morning. I know you lost a lot of blood.”
Charmeine looked at Shane with a gaze that said, ‘Watch it Shane.’
Shane sighed and said, “But that doesn’t explain that creep and what happened to get you in that shape. Also, how do you heal so fast?”
Charmeine said, “Do you remember at the concert I told you electricity came out of my hands and I shocked the guy so we could get away?”
Shane laughed, “Yeah, I think that was the head injury talking Char.”
Charmeine looked at him with an intense look and said, “Shane, I never lie. Believe it or not, Tab is a Blood-Hunter and I… am… a Light-Bearer.”
Shane just sat in his chair with a glazed look on his face.
She continued and said, “I can use my power against Blood-Hunters.”
She grabbed Tabbruis’ hand and said with a hard swallow, “See!” As if she commanded it, white light raced over their hands.
Shane was so startled; he stood up and backed away.
Charmeine said, “Sit now Shane, I’m not done talking to you.”
Then as ordered, Shane slumped back into his chair.
Charmeine said, “Our races are sworn enemies of each other, but Tab and I have a special relationship. We are not enemies. We are connected by love.”
Tabbruis looked at Charmeine and she looked down at her coffee cup thinking maybe she shouldn’t have said it, but it was how she felt.
She turned to Tabbruis looking in his eyes and said, “Yes… I said love.”
Smiling wide Tabbruis lovingly took Charmeine’s hand and enfolded it with his other hand and squeezed it. White sparks were encircling their hands.
Tabbruis looked at Shane and his heart became heavy with what he was about to say. He said, “It is true, my race is called Blood-Hunters or Elders. We track down and kill Light-Bearers because they are the only threat we have on Earth.”
Shane’s mouth hung open in disbelief.
Tabbruis and Charmeine
“Found each other at last”
Tabbruis continued and said, “Furthermore Shane, we Elders have an Elder Council. They monitor us and police the Blood-Hunters to make sure they do not cross the line with the humans. The night of the concert, Charleen was going to be caught by a Blood-Hunter which discovered her. The Blood-Hunter was going to take her to the Elder Council, so she could be executed.”
Charmeine realized what danger she was in and she shuttered thinking about it.
Tabbruis hung his head in disgust and said, “I have no words to tell you how this angers me. To be with her is to be condemned by my race, the Blood-Hunters.” Then Tabbruis looked at Charmeine and said, “But it seems little price to pay to love her.”
Charmeine had tears welling but none had fallen. Tabbruis grabbed her hand and cupped it close to his heart.
Shane looked at them and said, “Well, I knew you two were crazy for each other, but I had no idea… I guess I believe you Tab and Char; but it’s out there. Nevertheless, in all the years I have ever known Char, she has never lied to me. I am shocked but nothing else can explain your blood loss and the way you are healed today.”

Each of us have times when we talk with a friend or family member
and it is difficult.
However, the peace we feel afterward is priceless.
I have loved this song of Stevie Nicks since 1985…
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Reach out and engage yourself today…
talk… hug…
and feel the peace wash over you!

Laura Thomas – http://fuonlyknew.wordpress.com/ has honored me with the Fabulous Blog Ribbon and The Versatile Blogger award. Laura is not only talented in reviews but she is constantly helping to promote other people’s’ books. She is true friend and I value her outlook. Always has a kind word to say or a funny observation. Wonderful person!
Paula Acton – http://paulaacton.wordpress.com/ has honored me with the Illuminating Blogger Award. What a truly FABULOUS writer!!! Paula is just so talented and her writing is expressive and spellbinding. I relish her friendship as she has been with me from the beginning of my very short career as a novelist and blogger. She is one of the first people to push the “Like” button and I will never forget her comments and kind words.
Easyondeyes – http://easyondeyes.wordpress.com/ has honored me with the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. What can I say about these wonderful women? They are so talented at their reviews and general posts! I am so honored by their even thinking of me. Their blog is followed by many and I was drop dead flattered when they interviewed me and another writer M.S. Fowle http://msfowle.wordpress.com/ who OMG is just fabulous in her own right!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been remiss in not thanking people publicly for the awards they have bestowed on me. It seems my job at the college, going to MBA school and trying to publicize my novels have been my focus. However, one thing that life lately has taught me is that each day, hour and minute is special and we must treat it like that.
Tragedy seems all around us lately, so I have made it a point in my snippet to give you a little piece of myself at the end with a few words and a video you can enjoy for a moment reprieve from YOUR busy life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My blog will be moving over to a new WordPress blog soon http://authoremilyguido.com/.
I have signed with a publisher, PDMI Publishing, and they are setting up a wonderfully interactive WordPress website. It’s not up and running yet fully but if you want a peek, it is really awesome. I hope you will join me there as the snippets will be rolling out there!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for the awards, I have had them before but the Fabulous Blog Ribbon, so instead of doing all them and boring you to death with my musing again, I joined and rolled them all up in one post! The Fabulous Blog Ribbon is that I tell you 5 Fabulous moments, 5 things I love , 5 things I hate, and then I nominate 5 friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five Fabulous moments:
1) There are so many… But I guess as I look back I would say seeing the OCEAN for the first time was unfathomable fabulous!!! I grew up in Southern Indiana and it wasn’t until I was much older that I saw the ocean. It was like I was home at last.
2) I grew up very much like a music geek. While everyone else was listening to Elton John, Boston, and Billy Joel, I was listening to Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. I remember when I was seating as First Chair Concert-Mistress Violinist in 7th grade at my school. I was last chair the year before barely able to play and I was determined… So I practiced hours and hours that summer and when auditions came, I was shocked when the Director honored me even though there were much older students who I competed against.
3) Also, I was an acting and singing geek. I was honored also to win the lead as Little Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore a year later for my vocal ability. Since I was a young teenager, I have played in so many Orchestras, Philharmonic, and Chamber Ensembles! Also I have acted in so many Dramatic Roles in Plays and Funny Characters in Musical Roles… For me, it’s hard to tell you what it’s like to be good at so many things but NEVER GREAT AT ONE THING! However, it was Fabulous to have those wonderful experiences and opportunities.
4) Graduating from college with my Associates and then two years later with my Bachelor’s Degree has to be one of the most satisfying experiences ever! I was tens of years older than my classmates, but I worked really hard and graduated with both degrees Summa Cum Laude!
5) I have to agree with Laura about this one thing, getting my Kindle was life-changing!!! I began reading and reading. That is why I thought I could write my wonderful story of “The Light-Bearer Series” I thought maybe I could tell you all the story that was running through my head!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five things I love:
1) I love my Baby Grand piano, and even though I don’t play well at all, I just love to sit and play. I love music… any type of music… from 18th century chorale to Hip-Hop… I’m twisted like that! I would be just as happy listening to Chopin and then Lady Gaga… how funny is that!!!
2) I love my Kindle of course… my life-line and library at my fingertips.
3) I love my mornings with coffee on the porch also. I sit and look at the green trees and the river in back.
4) I love smarts and intelligence! Like a moth is to a light, I love intellectual people!!! Maybe it’s because I have such a low I.Q. that I am attracted to people who have high I.Q.’s??? I don’t know? Nevertheless, I love watching History Channel or International Channel or Discovery Channel and learning about all the wonderful things in the world of history and science! I’m a Trekkie but hush, hush… don’t tell my Paranormal Romance buddies about it… let’s just keep that a secret between you and me!
5) I love writing and blogging… I really want people to be uplifted, touched and or reflective when they read my work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five things I hate:
1) I hate the NEWS… hate it!!! I stopped watching it because I was getting really depressed. Now I have alerts text to my cell phone when something major happens. It seems that all there is to report on is bad, never good! Why can’t the news be balanced? Maybe it’s just human nature to shock and awe.
2) I’m also one who hates PREJUDICE in all forms. I was bullied because I was heavy as a kid and overweight now, treated as inferior because of my Latin/Hispanic heritage, and looked down upon because my family was very poor and destitute at times. I also am a Tomboy and treated badly because many people, even to this day, think or thought I was gay. Nothing wrong with being gay, but just because I am not a cover model, don’t like cooking, make-up or fashion… I am assumed to be that way. My best-friend is gay, and I love him very much! We grew up together at a time and in a town where we were booth bullied and ridiculed. I really hate people who make on the surface judgments of others… why is human nature like? It’s the people who don’t care about the surface respect and love!
3) I also hate Television which most people love… I hate reality shows… I will DVR a show and fast-forward the commercials but I mostly watch movies if any TV at all.
4) I hate being helpless or feeling helpless or not being able to help other people! I want to help everyone!
5) I hate traffic…. hahahaha… the joke is on me because I live in the most grid-lock ridden place… the Eastern Seaboard, New York City area.

Incensed and angry… Sandra whistled using her two fingers very loudly. She stood in front of the Dmitri’s desk leaning on it. Her arms were folded over her chest and patting her foot on the floor with irritation.
Sandra yelled, “Look at you all. Damn men! You look like kids who got their ice cream cone stolen from them. For all the chivalry you claim to have, you did a nice job of screwing up!”
She flung her hands up in the air yelling, “Mierda! Enough with the chauvinistic bullshit! Shane, you are her son! How could you not support her? Dad, you are her Champion! Dmitri? Thomas? Neal? Could you not even take in the possibility and believe November 5th is supposed to be the day of the attack?”
Sandra took a deep breath and said sarcastically, “What followers! What soldiers you are!”

Neal took a step forward to Sandra and angrily asked, “What did you say little girl?”
Sandra smiled and said, “Go ahead Neal. If you think you are invincible, I will put you down a notch or two now.”
Shane came over to Neal and said, “Stand down Neal. We are on the same squad.”
Neal took a breath and yelled at Sandra, “Do not question my loyalty ever again!”
Sandra shouted, “Oh I question everyone’s loyalty in this room! Mom has a hunch, and it’s up to everyone to listen to it, not automatically dismiss her!”
Dmitri said, “The biggest problem is now to locate the Queen, Sandra. Everything else is secondary. Tabbruis, do you have any ideas where she might have gone?”
Tabbruis was shaking his head and said, “No, but I am worried.”
Sandra walked over to the men and asked, “So I take it that no one has an idea where to find her?”
Tabbruis replied, “Daughter we cannot track her when she does not touch the ground…”
Sandra said angrily, “I’m talking about her feelings Dad! Feeling her hurt, her betrayal, her pain! You need to put yourself in her shoes now!”
Sandra threw her hands up in disgust again and crossed her arms, “Ay-ye-ye! Lord help us! I guess it’s gonna take a woman, to find a woman!”
She went over to the big chair at the head of the table, sat down and said ,“Now, tell me all about Mom. No, tell me about Charmeine, the woman…”

Smith Point Beach, Long Island, NY

Exhausted and very hungry, Charmeine was walking Smith Point Beach in Long Island, New York. Her heart was struggling to pump blood as it had been ever since she left Romania. She was livid! She felt betrayed, belittled and lonely. The aimlessness and craziness of this past week plummeted on her like an immensity. It felt like 1997 again.
Charmeine was wondering up and down the shore flying between Jones Beach and Smith Point. She wanted some time to think and had done a lot of it.
At first, Charmeine re-ran the whole scene in the study and the terrace in her mind, over and over, digging a deeper rut in her memory. However, the betrayal came from the root feeling of fear…. her fear!
Fear she wasn’t good enough. Fear she was incapable to be anyone’s Queen. Finally, fear she wasn’t strong enough to be a skilled weapon against the Elder Council.
The biggest problem now Charmeine faced was logistics. She needed to get to Athens, Greece and quick! The battle was a day away. In her haste to retreat from the castle she took no money, credit cards, passport, clothes or even a cell phone.
Charmeine sat down and began to cry. Her heart beat like it had a steel band around it. Ever since she left, her heart was never the same. Charmeine folded herself in a ball putting her legs up to her chest. She put her head on her knees and her arms gripped around her legs. She just rocked back and forth, comforting herself.
Charmeine started to cry like she did the night she realized she loved Tabbruis. She thought, ‘God, it seemed like a century ago but it has only been a few days.’
Charmeine longed to have Tabbruis back in her arms.
Still, he failed her at a moment when she needed him. Charmeine was crying so hard her chest was beginning to hurt. She closed her eyes to try blot out the memory of his touch, it just hurt too much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Men and Women… We are different…
But is that so bad?
I have loved this song since I heard it in 1986, it is a joy to share it with you now!
My time is almost gone. Hear and heed what I say, now. Once the Elder Council is destroyed, those like me will come back to you and live on the Earth. We are waiting for Our Queen of Light to release us. Please my Queen of Light… Bring us back? My children, Laura, Hameal and I will come back to our loves but no one else can do it but you.
Charmeine got up to talk to Tabbruis and she became unsteady.
Tabbruis saw her wobble and picked her up. He noticed that she felt like jelly in his hands. Tabbruis could tell she was exhausted and whisked her to their Master Suite. One minute later, Tabbruis put her on the edge of the bed.
Charmeine said, “You have to stop using that superhuman speed of yours, it makes a girl dizzy.”
Tabbruis started taking off her clothes, and she stopped his hand.
Charmeine smiled and said, “Tabbruis I know you are going to think I’m crazy; however, would you to just massage my back. I need to relax. Would you mind terribly?”
Tabbruis smiled and said, “Not at all.”
He finished undressing Charmeine and then put a towel on her. She stretched out on the bed face down. Her hands dangled over the side and he put a pillow under her chin. Tabbruis opened up the terrace doors to let the sea breeze in which he knew she liked.
When Charmeine felt the sea breeze hit her in the face, she was thankful.
All of a sudden, Charmeine smelled roses. Tabbruis began rubbing her back with the rose lotion she loved. She sighed and said, “That smells and feels like Heaven.”
Tabbruis asked, “Your Heaven?”
She answered with a smile, “Oh yes, my Heaven.”
Tabbruis said, “Well, we must be neighbors because this is part of my Heaven too.” He knew Charmeine was very tired and whispered in her ear, “When you are rested my love everything will come into focus. For right now, just feel peaceful.” Tabbruis kept on massaging her shoulders and neck. He could feel the tension in her muscles.
He said, “Focus on being calm and breath deep. I am here. I will be here always for you Charmeine. Sleep now.”
Tabbruis could not help himself from putting his hands on her. Charmeine’s skin and body were perfect. He slowly rubbed her neck, head and shoulders until he knew she was completely relaxed.
Charmeine had closed her eyes.
Tabbruis could see she needed rest. He picked her up and laid her in the bed covering her with a light sheet. Tabbruis got ready for bed and turned all the lights off. Moonlight was all around the room.
Sleepily, Charmeine said, “Tabbruis, I want to sleep in your arms feeling your skin against me.”
Tabbruis smiled wide, “I would like nothing better,” and with a flash, he was back under the covers and patted his bare chest beckoning her to come to him.
Yawning, she said, “How can you always be this damn sexy?”
Tabbruis made a small laugh and said, “You have no idea how sexy you are.”
Charmeine slid next to Tabbruis and wrapped herself around him with her head resting on his chest. Tabbruis’ heartbeat calmed Charmeine. She said, “Good thing we are married. We are two peas in a pod who love each other.”
Tabbruis and Charmeine
“Accendo light the love”
Tabbruis smiled rubbing her arm and said, “Two peas who need each other.”
Charmeine said slowly as she was drifting off to sleep, “Two peas in a pod who would die for each other…”
Tabbruis’ heart fell.
Charmeine was saying in her sleep what had been on her mind all along. She was sure sacrificing herself was the only way to save her family.
Tabbruis held Charmeine praying, “God, please let me help and protect her.”
He saw her sweet smile on her lips and it comforted him. Tabbruis leaned down and kissed her. Then he began to sleep contently holding Charmeine tightly in his arms.
Book Review: Charmeine (The Light Bearer Series, #1) by Emily Guido
I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. My thoughts are my own.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I just finished reading Charmeine. I have a huge smile on my face and the feeling that (at least temporarily) all is right with the World. What a wonderful book! Four Stars at least!
Emily Guido may be a fairly new PRN writer but you would not know it as you read Charmeine.
AWESOME REVIEW!!! I'm just tickled pink!
“Castle Charmeine” premier snippet from “ACCENDO” the Third Novel from “The Light-Bearer Series”
When Charmeine rescued Tabbruis from Hell, he had lost her for thousands of years. However, he never remembered Charmeine or their Son, Shane, when he woke up in the middle-east desert.Tabbruis thought, ‘It has to be a blessing, I did not remember them. I would have been searching millennia for my family but they were not on the Earth yet.’
Nevertheless, the loneliness he experienced was painful even now as he thought about it. Since he woke up in the desert alone thousands of years ago, the loneliness engulfed him.
Tabbruis became scared because he had so much love in his life now. Charmeine and his family was his lifeline, his heartbeat, his everything. He needed both Charmeine and his family, especially ‘Baby Hunter,’ as she liked to call the baby.
When Charmeine told Tabbruis about the baby, he was so happy he thought his heart would explode.
So many moments of happiness had happened to him since Charmeine came into his life. His heart began to beat when he saw her face above his in the Jones Beach parking lot.
His passion burned and never had been extinguished since their wedding night when he gave himself to the only woman he wanted on the Earth. Tabbruis’ faith in God was renewed when he saw Charmeine in Heaven come back to be with him and their family.
Now, his contentment thrived in Charmeine’s womb ready to be born in a few months. Tabbruis thanked God for the comfort and love Charmeine gave him in Heaven and on the Earth.
Wanting to be a good husband and father, Tabbruis was reading books all about the stages of pregnancy. He took care of Charmeine as much as possible. However, she did not like being coddled. Tabbruis knew Charmeine put up with it just because of Baby Hunter.
Laura said, at the last ultrasound of Charmeine, Baby Hunter was starting its third trimester. Tabbruis had wanted to see if Laura could tell the sex of the baby. However, Charmeine, either from superstition or just to be surprised when the baby was born, did not want to know. Charmeine just wanted Baby Hunter to be healthy.
Tabbruis and everyone in the house were on 24 hour baby patrol.
Tabbruis and Charmeine
“Castle Charmeine”
In between weddings, all the men of the house, Tabbruis, Shane, Neal, Hameal, Dmitri, Thomas, and even young Percival had wanted to make the baby furniture and design editions to Castle Charmeine by hand.
Hameal was a builder and saw to it Castle Charmeine was transformed into a baby proof home. He was also adding editions for the baby. All the men had managed to build and transform the room next to Tabbruis and Charmeine into the perfect nursery.
Laura and Sandra were busy with the Hospital and preparing it for every contingency even with a sterile operating room.
The Hospital came in handy when Percival hammered his thumb instead the head of the nail crushing his bone. Laura and Sandra fixed him up but Dmitri gave him some blood and he was fine in a few days.
Sandra, Laura, Hera and young Athena were in shopping mode. They were making bi-weekly trips to Bucharest in between weddings for everything Baby Hunter would need.
Laura was glad Charmeine’s travel and flight time was over, she was skeptical of any woman flying in the third trimester.
Tabbruis was just glad the family was back at home with Charmeine and Baby Hunter in his arms safe and secure. He bent down to kiss Charmeine on the head. More content than he ever thought he could be.
It seemed Castle Charmeine was the happiest place on Earth…
*****
It was about 3:00 a.m. when the perimeter alarms went off.
Tabbruis and Charmeine awoke with a start.
Tabbruis used his blood-hunter senses to make sure everyone in the house was okay. Charmeine looked at him with trepidation.
Tabbruis got out of bed, turned on the lights, dressed and was on his cell with Dmitri just as Charmeine was able to roll herself out bed. He handed Charmeine a sweater and yoga pants.
Tabbruis said, “We need to get to Dmitri’s study. All the surveillance equipment is there.”
Tristan and Isolde… a snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”
White horse in field (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Standing outside the door were two unbelievable, gorgeous horses. He smiled big and said, “Meet Tristan and Isolde.”
Charmeine’s mouth hung open in astonishment.
One horse was a huge black stallion with a long mane and coat was so black, it was almost blue. The other horse had a coat so white; it looked like snow and had a long mane.
With pride, Tabbruis said, “I have raised them since they were foals. They are my pride and joy. I hope you do not mind, the beach is private so there are no roads there. We could walk if you would prefer?”
Charmeine said smiling big, “Oh my God Tabbruis! They are magnificent! I can’t believe how stunning they are.” Charmeine started shaking her head and said, “Tabbruis, I have never ridden a horse. What if I hurt one? I would feel terrible.”
Tabbruis laughed, “Do not worry Isolde is very gentle, and she will guide you.”
Charmeine jumped up and down, “If you don’t think I would hurt her, I would love it. I take it Isolde is the white horse?” she said with an eyebrow raised.
Tabbruis nodded, “Yes my love. Let me help you up.”
Charmeine said, “Before you do that, can I talk to Isolde?”
Tabbruis was taken aback and said, “Do what you wish.”
Charmeine went to Isolde and put her hand out so the beautiful horse could smell her. Charmeine started petting Isolde on the forehead looking in her eyes. She said softly, “I will try my best to ride you well. Please don’t be scared. I won’t hurt you if I can help it girlfriend.”
She nodded to Tabbruis and with no effort; he placed her up on Isolde. Tabbruis was already on Tristan when he came over and showed Charmeine how to hold the reigns and steer.
Charmeine was so happy and it seemed Isolde was in tune with her from the start. She leaned down and whispered in Isolde’s ear, “I promise not to hurt you.” Isolde nodded her head up and down.
All four started out to the beach and Tabbruis said, “These animals are exquisite and have brought me a lot of pleasure.”
Tristan seemed a little anxious and Tabbruis said, “Tristan wants to run. Charmeine, do not worry, Isolde will take good care of you. I am just going to run him around a little, and we will come back.”
Tabbruis and Tristan shot off. Starting into a full gallop like in a flat race, Charmeine noticed the action with the stallion’s legs. The horse was truly amazing. Tabbruis headed for a fence and Charmeine winced, but the bascule was perfect and the amazing animal cleared it with no problem.
Charmeine felt Isolde start itching to run. She leaned down and said in Isolde’s ears, “Are we going to let the men show us up like that?” As if by magic, Isolde took off. Charmeine caught onto the transition. She held onto Isolde and matched the rhythm of her gallop.
Tabbruis turned and yelled at her to stop but they were already galloping. Amazingly Tabbruis noticed Charmeine was not only holding her own like a true rider, but she was actually helping the gallop.
Charmeine and Isolde ran to the same fence. Shocked Tabbruis opened his eyes wide and tried to holler for them to stop. However, Charmeine and Isolde jumped as if they were one mind easily clearing the fence. As Charmeine and Isolde ran past Tabbruis and Tristan, Charmeine waved bye-bye to Tabbruis yelling, “See ya later…sucker!” and winked at him.
Incredulously Tabbruis said as she was galloping away, “Oh no, she did not… She did! Come on Tristan, we cannot let the women show us up!”
Tabbruis and Tristan were chasing Charmeine and Isolde at a full gallop.
Tabbruis and Tristan caught up and Charmeine hollered, “What took you so long?”
Tabbruis yelled, “Charlatan, you had a head start!”
Charmeine beamed devilishly and shouted, “Boo, Hoo! Come on Isolde my girlfriend!” and stuck out her tongue to Tabbruis.
Tabbruis could not believe what he was seeing.
Charmeine and Isolde jumped fences, over small brooks and easily galloped having fun while Tabbruis and Tristan were flanking them. All four were enjoying the wind rushing through their hair.
After a while the horses began to slow and Charmeine shouted in a pout, “We’re here already? Darn it! I wanted to ride more!”
Tabbruis yelled suspiciously and breathing hard, “You… You are not even out of breath! You… have never ridden a horse before?”
Charmeine loudly said rolling her eyes, “Are you frigging mental? I was a ward of the State of New York, worked my way through college and have been working for the State of New York as a teacher supporting myself barely able to pay my bills! Where in the world do you believe I could get enough money to take lessons or even ride a horse?”
Tabbruis said, “But…you…”
Charmeine looked at him in the eyes and said, “I have never ridden a horse before Tabbruis.”
Tabbruis said, “Well it must be true because you are not capable of lying. Will wonders never cease about you? You are truly a fascinating female!”
Charmeine winked at him and proudly said, “It is all Isolde. I was just along for the ride.”
Tabbruis said, “Au contraire une épouse, you were matching and even helping Isolde’s gallop. Experienced riders have trouble doing that.
Charmeine said whimsically in perfect French, “Oh it must be Je ne se quoi, n’est-ce pas?”
Tabbruis started laughing, “I keep underestimating you, my love, but French too?
Charmeine said shaking her head, “Je sais seulement un peu de français.”
Tabbruis started laughing shaking his head, “You are really astonishing!”
As they arrived at a barn, he said, “We are here. Tristan and Isolde like this corral; they can run and get refreshment while we are here.”
Charmeine helped get the horses in order with Tabbruis.
He said, “I am going to make sure their feed and water are set. I will be around the barn.”
Charmeine looked at the two magnificent animals and they came together so she could rub their foreheads. Charmeine said to them in a soft voice, “Thank you Tristan and Isolde, you are part of our family now too. I will love both of you always and forever.” Neighing, they rubbed up against her and she laughed.As Charmeine walked around the barn, she saw Tabbruis and smiled wide running up to him. She said, “Tristan and Isolde are wonderful Tabbruis. Thank you for trusting me to ride Isolde.”
Tabbruis hugged her and said, “I heard you talking to Tristan and Isolde, thank you for loving them as much as I do Charmeine.”
Charmeine said to him quietly, “Haven’t you learned by now, we are one, our hearts are one, so if you love Tristan and Isolde, I do too?”
Tabbruis said while hugging her, “Yes, my wife… my wonderful wife, yes,” and he hugged her thanking God he had her in his arms.
“Doctor and Diagnosis” Snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”
The next day Tabbruis returned and came running into their Master Suite and saw Charmeine sitting up smiling. Sandra and Laura asked, “Do they have everything?”Tabbruis said, “Yes, they are unloading it all now. How is she?”
Charmeine said, “Tabbruis I know you are concerned, but I’m not dead. I’m fine sweetheart. Go down with Sandra and Laura to get everything in order. I need a minute with Hera alone.”
Tabbruis taken aback by this said, “Hera?”
Charmeine smiled and said, “Please ask her to come and sit with me while everyone gets things put in order with Sandra and Laura.”
Laura smiled and said, “You have Thomas’ cell phone, call if there are any problems. If everything was done to order like I know Thomas always does, we will have the necessary supplies to check.” The two girls were tittering among themselves as they were getting up to go.
Charmeine said, “Thank you Laura and Sandra for all that you have done for me. Now, Tabbruis go with them and tell Hera to come up! Don’t worry yourself uselessly. I’m fine and probably more than fine!”
Tabbruis said, “You must be okay, you cannot lie. I still think there is something you are not telling me Charmeine.”
Charmeine said, “Yes, if you don’t get Hera, and go downstairs to help with the Infirmary I’m going to kick your caboose!”
Tabbruis started to laugh and said, “Okay but I will be back, and we WILL talk then!”
Tabbruis left and after what seemed like an eternity to Charmeine, Hera opened the door to the Master Suite and said, “You sent for me my Queen?”
Charmeine said, “Geez, please just call me Charmeine, I’ve explained this to Laura but I guess I will have to tell everyone.” As Hera closed the door Charmeine said, “So, when you were…”
*****
Laura and Sandra made their way through the provisions and found the necessary supplies they needed. Thomas came up to Laura and said, “I am doing the best I can to arrange everything, Laura. I hope I am doing okay for you and our Queen. I especially do not want you to be disappointed.”
Laura looked at the shining equipment and the all the apothecary supplies and smiled big, “Always my rock, Thomas, I could not arrange things any better. I love you Thomas. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have always been there for me to give medical aid. You are the glue that holds my heart and soul together! I am so in your debt for spending all those years with me helping other people.”
Thomas tenderly took her chin and said, “My little lifesaver, saving everyone… starting with me.” Laura’s eyes had tears and he kissed her while streaks were pouring down the side of her face.
Thomas held her cheeks and said, “I cannot wait until you become my wife, doctor.”
Laura smiled big and her eyes twinkled. She said, “I cannot wait either.”
Sandra’s tugged on Laura’s sleeve and said, “Umm… Laura and I have to go now. However, please hurry Thomas, Mom needs the equipment put in order as soon as possible.”
Thomas said loudly looking around at everyone, “Our Queen, needs this put in order ASAP, so let us put our superhuman speed into it.”
Tabbruis came in as he was saying it and looked at Laura asked, “She’s okay right?”
Laura said, “She’s fine. Hopefully I will have a little diagnosis for you and your wife as soon as possible.” Laura was smiling from ear to ear.
Dmitri’s face became peaceful, and he swallowed, “My Queen, I cannot tell you a lie. I have thought about using this weapon for revenge on the Elder Council.”
Charmeine asked, “Revenge?”
Dmitri replied with a stern voice, “Yes! But do not misinterpret what I am saying. I do not want to rule the Earth! I want to destroy the Elder Council like they destroyed my family.”
Charmeine looked stunned and said, “Family?” She shook her head and said, “Oh, Dmitri. I am so sorry, please forgive me! Please forgive…”
Dmitri interrupted her and said, “You see my Queen, I had a family millennia ago. I wanted to keep them safe too but I failed.
In the year 355 B.C., I fell in love with a human girl, Hera. She was a small slip of a girl, who even as a human was as delicate as a bird. We lived in Greece near Athens, in a tiny house surrounded by olive groves. We had two children, Percival and Athena.
Sadly, my family was human and did not inherent any immortal traits. But my family was beautiful, and even though I knew I was immortal, I cherished them and my wife more than you will know.
The Elder Council is stationed in Athens. However, I made a critical mistake by not taking my family away from Greece and hiding. I thought since I was their Brother Blood-Hunter, my family would be safe. Nevertheless, on a mission for more humans to feed the Elder Council, their Elder Temple Guards took my Son, Percival, while he was out in the olive grove harvesting.
When my wife Hera had told me what happened, I rushed to Athens to save my son, but they had already drained him and threw him on the fire pit to be burned. I pulled him out and tried to save him putting my blood in his mouth, but he was gone. He was only sixteen. Percival was only a child, he not known life. He did not know love nor had he taken a wife. Percival was so innocent. But his life was snuffed out for a moment of pleasure to the Elder Council.
So yes, my Queen, I have an alternative motive for executing the Elder Council… Revenge!”
Dmitri broke away, and looked at the sky breathing hard, “When they murdered my son, Percival, my rage was so great and my loathing was so intense every bone in my body shuddered and every cell of my body was crying out in pain.”
Neal came and looked Charmeine in the eyes and said, “I was a guard of the Elder Council at that time. Dmitri stormed the compound killing and laying waste to all he met. He even killed an Elder, Prometheus, before we caught him. Then he was brought before the Elder Council in front of the ‘Altar of Judgment’.”
Dmitri said to Charmeine, “I swore vengeance for the life of my son.”
Neal said, “As a punishment the Elder Council ordered my Squad to slaughter not only his wife and daughter but his whole village. Dmitri was supposed to be executed at midnight but… I… I just could not do it. I told my Squad to stand down, but their lust for blood was too great and as much as I tried to stop them, they carried out the Elder Council edict.
I rushed back to the compound before they could return, I helped Dmitri escape. He wanted to vengeance to attack without abandon.”
Mount Olympus (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Dmitri said, “But I did not, Neal made me see the futility of an attack until we could have a plan to destroy them. We made our way out of Athens and hid on Mount Olympus. I became depressed and stopped drinking blood.
I told Neal I needed to walk by myself. Neal said he would come and get me if I had not returned by morning. Even then, my brother, Neal, was my Protector.
I went to lie on a rock overlooking the lands below.”
Dmitri started to well up with a tear smiling in remembrance, “My dear Hera appeared to me like an Angel. She was glowing in white and beautiful as ever.”
He smiled big remembering Hera and said, “She told me the Prophecy would come to pass…The Queen of Light will sit on the throne, and the King of Darkness will fight as her Champion, and their family will rule the Elders with truth, wisdom and justice…”
Dmitri put his hands to his face in dreamy trance looking off to the sky, “Hera said I must be worthy of the Prophecy and never take a human life again. The blood of animals I should take only. If I do feed from a human, they have to give it to me and not be forced to do so. She then said to ingratiate myself to the Elder Council again. Hera said, ‘You must keep your enemies close, the time will come when you can help others escape their judgments.’
So that is how I helped other Blood-Hunters from the Elder Council’s wickedness throughout time… covertly.”
Personally, I was thinking about senselessness of violence yesterday a lot…
Violence needs a Revolution to put tolerance back into our world.
Say ‘I love you,’ hug, kiss and smile once a day…
create your own Revolution!
