                                                                My only sister, Connie,had Leukemia and she loved soap operas like “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and especially, “Dark Shadows.”
The fondest memories I have are watching the soaps and talking to her while she was lying in her hospital bed.  Connie swooned over the hunks on the screen and we talked about the soaps all the time but I didn’t have any idea she was talking about!
Connie died when she was 16.
Later, whenever I did anything creative, I knew she is up in Heaven just cheering me on.
Even when I wrote the novels “Charmeine,” “Mactus,” “Accendo,” “Seditious” and “Ransom” from the “The Light-Bearer Series,” it really made my heart swell to think Connie would have relished and loved these novels with all the romance, vampires and gorgeous men in them.
So I shared a piece of my motivation to write the wonderful, passionate, and magical “Light-Bearer Series” with you to ask you to at least take advantage of the FREE offer… just to have a taste of romance I have tried to put into “Charmeine”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SYNOPSIS of “Charmeine”
Can romance develop between a Heavenly Light-Bearer and a Hellish Vampire Blood-Hunter?  “Charmeine” the First Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series,” was released January 2012.
Tabbruis is a Blood-Hunter, who over millennia, has wandered the Earth alone with amnesia aimlessly living through many historical events.
Charmeine just came to the Earth in 1997, unable to remember anything.
When Tabbruis meets Charmeine the attraction is immediate and passionate. They are polar opposites and clash together in a strongly romantic and dramatic way.  Charmeine’s powers as a Light-Bearer, one who throws lightning, is triggered and grows exponentially.
Will Charmeine and Tabbruis fulfill their destinies?   Will they realize their importance in both the Blood-Hunter and Light-Bearer world?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you enjoy the video of
“Charmeine,” “Mactus” and “Accendo”

“Alive and Kicking” excerpt from “MACTUS” the Second Novel of “The Light Bearer Series” and FREE GIVEAWAY OF “CHARMEINE”

The evil Blood-Hunter backed up slowly to the stairs of the jet and said, “Now, radio the pilot and tell him, if he doesn’t do exactly as I want, she will be dead in 5 seconds.”
Neal took the walkie-talkie out of his pocket and made an order on it to stand down.
The Blood-Hunter said, “I will keep her alive for the Elder Council.”
While the Blood-Hunter was laughing, he ran his hand over Charmeine’s chest and ripped her turtleneck.  Her camisole was exposed, and he began to drop his hand down to her pants.
Suddenly an immense coil of wind started to swirl around the Blood-Hunter and he yelled, “What’s going on?”
Then in a blink of an eye, a bolt of lightning came down from the sky throwing the Blood-Hunter away from the plane and Charmeine.  Tabbruis raced to Charmeine and caught her before she hit the ground.
Neal caught the Blood-Hunter.  With a quick snap, Neal ripped off the Blood-Hunter’s head.  Neal shouted with a mean sneer, “Recover that loss Blood-Hunter!”
Neal turned and looked at Charmeine and Tabbruis.  Tabbruis was looking past him.  Shane’s hands were extended and his long hair was flying with a wind around him.  His eyes were transformed into bright orbs of sunlight.  Then as quickly as the wind came, it was gone.  Shane’s eyes transformed back into bright blue.
Tabbruis looked at Charmeine, he starting welling up with tears as he held her.  He licked her neck desperately trying to close the jagged wounds left by the Blood-Hunter.

Comp Air Jet

Neal said, “We have to get Charmeine on the plane and try to save her there.  There might be others.”
Tabbruis was not paying attention.  He still was licking Charmeine’s neck to heal it and would not move.  Neal yelled, “Tabbruis!  Get her on the plane, now!”
Tabbruis picked her up and started to move up the ladder.
Neal used his walkie-talkie to get clearance for take-off.
Tabbruis shouted to Shane, “Son, we have to go!  Get on the plane.”  Shane ran up behind them and secured the door for take-off.
The jet was taxiing the tarmac and Tabbruis laid Charmeine on the couch.  Charmeine said, “I love you Tabbruis.  Take care of … our son.”  Charmeine closed her eyes and quietly slumped in Tabbruis’ arms.
Tabbruis was desperately licking her wounds and muttered over and over, “My love, my love, please!  Please wake up!”  Charmeine did not move.  In a moment of complete and utter futility, he made a guttural roar and his eyes turned red with tears.
Tabbruis looked up at Shane and said, “Son, I am trying.  I am sorry.”  Tabbruis began to rock Charmeine back and forth like a little child in his arms.  His tears were dropping on her face and his anguish was palpable to all who witnessed.
Shane dropped to his knees and put his hand on Charmeine’s chest over her heart.
Shane said with a commanding voice, “Father, give me your arm!”  Tabbruis followed his son’s instructions and extended his arm.  With a shock, fangs came into Shane’s mouth and his gums began to bleed.  He bit into his father’s wrist and his own wrist.  Shane held their wrists together mingling their blood.  He said, “Father, put this to her lips and tell her drink.  Do not stop this no matter what I do.”
As if taking an order from God, Tabbruis put his wrist which had his and Shane’s blood in it up to Charmeine’s mouth.  He bent down to her ear and said, “Drink my love.  Charmeine….”  While Tabbruis was talking, Shane began to shock her heart in regular intervals.
Shane roared, “Father!  Try harder!  It’s not working!”
Tabbruis felt everything around him go black.  All sounds were gone except his heartbeat.  Then his heart started to beat slower and slower.
Tabbruis knew the exact moment Charmeine’s heart stopped because his heart stopped beating too.
In futility, Tabbruis closed his eyes and said into her ear, “Semper tuus ero, Charmeine.  I am forever yours.”  With that, her tongue, stirred on his arm.  Tabbruis nodded and cried, “Yes!  My dear Charmeine; I need you.  Our son, Shane, needs you.  You have to take care of our family.  I am nothing without you my love.”
Shane gave her another shock, and Charmeine slowly began to drink.
All Tabbruis could whisper into Charmeine’s ear was, “Semper tuus ero,” over and over again.
Shane shocked her again and she began to drink more and the pull on Tabbruis’ blood was stronger.  The fact that she was responding warmed Tabbruis all the way down to the bottom of his soul.  Tabbruis laughed with joy.
Shane put his ear to her chest.  He heard a strong heartbeat and said, “She will be okay now.”

English: Plane

Through tears of joy, Tabbruis smiled and said, “Yes, I know!  When her heart started beating again, my heart began to beat too.”
Shane sat back on his heels looking at her with love in his heart and said, “Father, feed her for a minute more.  I’m going to wash up.”
Tabbruis nodded at and looked at Charmeine’s face as it was becoming alive with color.
As the jet took off the ground flying high into the sky, Tabbruis’ heart was soaring also.

“Dmitri’s Story” snippet “MACTUS” Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” GIVEAWAY of “CHARMEINE”

Tabbruis looked at them both and asked strongly, “Cool?  That weapon can destroy us all!”
Dmitri said, “Yes, it could if we intended to do that, but all we want to do is remove the Elder Council and bring balance and harmony to our kind.”
Charmeine came forward and said, “Look me in the eyes Dmitri.”
Dmitri stood there dumbfounded and asked, “My Queen, you do not believe my intent?”  Neal came up to defend Dmitri, but Tabbruis put his hand on his chest.
With a straight face, Dmitri replied, “I am very old, and I have nothing to hide from you my Queen, as you wish.”  He gave the sword to Neal, and then Tabbruis seeing his acquiesces took his hand down.
Charmeine took Dmitri’s chin and asked, “Is this weapon a way to end all the suffering for the Blood-Hunters, Light-Bearers and humans?  Or do you wish to use it to gain control and have dominion on the Earth over us all?”
Dmitri’s face became peaceful, he swallowed and answered, “My Queen, I cannot tell you a lie.  I have thought about using this weapon for revenge on the Elder Council.”
Charmeine asked, “Revenge?”
Dmitri replied with a stern voice, “Yes!  But do not misinterpret what I am saying.  I do not want to rule the Earth!  I want to destroy the Elder Council like they destroyed my family.”
Charmeine looked stunned and said, “Family?”  She shook her head and said, “Oh, Dmitri.  I am so sorry, please forgive me!  Please forgive…”

Dmitri interrupted her and said, “You see my Queen, I had a family millennia ago.  I wanted to keep them safe too but I failed.  In the year 355 B.C., I fell in love with a human girl, Hera.  She was a small slip of a girl, who even as a human was as delicate as a bird.  We lived in Greece near Athens, in a tiny house surrounded by olive groves.  We had two children, Percival and Athena.
Sadly, my family was human and did not inherent any immortal traits.  But my family was beautiful, and even though I knew I was immortal, I cherished them and my wife more than you will know.
The Elder Council is stationed in Athens.  However, I made a critical mistake by not taking my family away from Greece and hiding.  I thought since I was their Brother Blood-Hunter, my family would be safe.  Nevertheless, on a mission for more humans to feed the Elder Council, their Elder Temple Guards took my Son, Percival, while he was out in the olive grove harvesting.
When my wife Hera had told me what happened, I rushed to Athens to save my son, but they had already drained him and threw him on the fire pit to be burned.  I pulled him out and tried to save him putting my blood in his mouth, but he was gone.  He was only sixteen.  Percival was only a child, he not known life.  He did not know love nor had he taken a wife.  Percival was so innocent.  But his life was snuffed out for a moment of pleasure to the Elder Council.
So yes, my Queen, I have an alternative motive for executing the Elder Council… Revenge!”
Dmitri broke away, and looked at the sky breathing hard, “When they murdered my son, Percival, my rage was so great and my loathing was so intense every bone in my body shuddered and every cell of my body was crying out in pain.”
Neal came and looked Charmeine in the eyes and said, “I was a guard of the Elder Council at that time.  Dmitri stormed the compound killing and laying waste to all he encountered.  He even killed an Elder, Prometheus, before we caught him.  Then he was brought before the Elder Council in front of the ‘Altar of Judgment’.”
Dmitri said to Charmeine, “I swore vengeance for the life of my son!”
Neal said, “As a punishment the Elder Council ordered my Squad to slaughter not only his wife and daughter but his whole village.  Dmitri was supposed to be executed at midnight but…  I… I just could not do it.  I told my Squad to stand down, but their lust for blood was too great and as much as I tried to stop them, they carried out the Elder Council edict.
I rushed back to the compound before they could return, I helped Dmitri escape.  He wanted to vengeance to attack without abandon.”
Mount Olympus

Dmitri said, “But I did not, Neal made me see the futility of an attack until we could have a plan to destroy them.  We made our way out of Athens and hid on Mount Olympus.  I became depressed and stopped drinking blood.
I told Neal I needed to walk by myself.  Neal said he would come and get me if I had not returned by morning.  Even then, my brother, Neal, was my Protector.
I went to lie on a rock overlooking the lands below.”
Dmitri started to well up with a tear smiling in remembrance, “My dear Hera appeared to me like an Angel.  She was glowing in white and beautiful as ever.”
He smiled big remembering Hera and said, “She told me the Prophecy would come to pass…The Queen of Light will sit on the throne, and the King of Darkness will fight as her Champion, and their family will rule the Elders with truth, wisdom and justice…”

Carl Heinrich Bloch This image (or other media file) is in the public domain because its copyright has expired.

Dmitri put his hands to his face in dreamy trance looking off to the sky, “Hera said I must be worthy of the Prophecy and never take a human life again.  The blood of animals I should take only.  If I do feed from a human, they have to give it to me and not be forced to do so.  She then said to ingratiate myself to the Elder Council again.  Hera said, ‘You must keep your enemies close, the time will come when you can help others escape their judgments.’
So that is how I helped other Blood-Hunters from the Elder Council’s wickedness throughout time… covertly.”

“Nothing Special”from “MACTUS” the 2nd Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” and FREE GIVEAWAY of “Charmeine”

Charmeine turned and as if a lure was pulling her out the doors leading to the Formal Rose Garden.  Even though she saw it yesterday when they were married, she audibly gasped and said, “Oh my!”  Charmeine could see today how excellently groomed and trimmed all the roses were.  It was beautiful.  She could see all sorts of roses of different color combinations.  There were even climbing roses growing up the wall on both sides of the door.  She went over to a big full rose and smelled it.  Charmeine felt instantly relaxed.

There were a couple chairs with a table in-between them.  It had a vase full of cut roses in it with different colors.  Charmeine said out loud to herself, “Dmitri is an excellent host.  God everything in his castle is perfect!”
Smiling and content, she sat in a chair and turned her face to Heaven smelling the wonderful scent.
Tabbruis came through the door with a smile on his face and he had two glasses on a tray, one large tall glass and another short glass.  Charmeine said to him, “How does Dmitri do it?  His castle is managed so efficiently.  Everything is perfect.  He must be a wonderful administrator, so much detail to take care of running a place like this.”
Tabbruis smiled with his brow up looking at her.
She said, “What’s that smile for?”
Tabbruis said, “Nothing, I have your drink.”  Tabbruis gave the tall glass to her and she tasted it.  It was a Coke and Charmeine smiled big and drank a huge gulp.
Charmeine said, “I do love Coke, I can’t believe you have it here in Romania.”
Tabbruis said, “That drink is all over the world.”  He sat and put the tray down.  He took a swig of his drink.
Charmeine offered her glass for cheers, and he did so.  They both chuckled.
Tabbruis said, “I knew you would like this.  I know you love roses.”

Charmeine softly moaned and laid her head back, “Oh yes, this is just Heaven.”
Tabbruis smiled and said, “You think everything is ‘Heaven’.”
Charmeine giggled and said, “Oh Tabbruis, don’t you know if something is wonderful to you, it must be a part of ‘your’ Heaven.  For example, I love the beach.  In my Heaven, the beach is there.”
Tabbruis said inquisitively, “What else would you have in ‘your’ Heaven?”
Charmeine said, “You, my family, the ocean, this castle, the private beach, Tristan and Isolde, this Formal Rose Garden, and oh, yes, that lovely and beautiful Bösendorfer Grand Piano.  Oh I could play that instrument for hours.”
Tabbruis said, “Oh really?”

She winked at him and said, “Oh yes, just play for hours and hours.”  Charmeine took another big swig and put her head up and turned to him and said, “Thank you Tabbruis for my drink, but then for so much more.  You spoil me too much.  I don’t require luxury or pampering.  On Long Island, I was a very boring and very plain woman.”
Tabbruis laughed shaking his head, “You have no idea how opposite of that you are.”  His green eyes bore into Charmeine’s, and she smiled with embarrassment.  Then she drank all of her Coke down and ice clinked in the glass when she put it on the table beside her.
Charmeine said with a pensive face, “You don’t know how wrong you are Tabbruis.  I felt like the indecisive, red-headed stepchild of Long Island, New York.”
Tabbruis’ eyebrows went up and he said with a chuckle, “What?  Indecisive…”
Charmeine said interrupting him, “I was never accepted, except for Shane.  If I hadn’t met you, all my life would have been dust in the wind.  I am not special.  It is your love that makes me special Tabbruis; don’t you know that by now?”  Charmeine sighed and said, “The point of all this is to say, please don’t spoil me.  Leave the spoiling for someone who deserves it.”
Tabbruis went to her chair and put his hands on the armrests.  He bent down looking her in the eyes and said, “My God Charmeine, you really do not know how exceptional and perfect you are?  Always shying away from the spotlight but you fight like a bear protecting her cubs when her family is threatened, vicious and lethal.”  He kissed her like she was a delicate flower.

“Family Found” snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” and FREE GIVEAWAY OF “CHARMEINE”

Finally releasing them, Charmeine said, “My two loves, why don’t we get something to eat.  Then we need to figure out a plan, you know, the Blood-Hunter, the Elder Council?”
Shane said, “What happened?  Why were we separated?  Why did I age and you never did?  Why are all of us almost the same age?  Why couldn’t we remember before?”
Charmeine said, “I don’t know those answers Shane.  I’m as clueless in all of this.  As soon as I met you, I knew we had a strong connection.  Then when I met Tabbruis, your father, I knew we had a deep connection.  What matters is that we found each other.  Now, the most important thing is that we have to keep our family safe!”
Her statement got the attention of Tabbruis and Shane.
Tabbruis and Shane instantly pulled themselves and Charmeine off the floor.
Shane sat himself down into a dining room chair as did Charmeine.
Tabbruis said, “I have to make a call”
Shane said, “Anything wrong… um… Dad?”  Shane kind of tested the waters with calling his father ‘Dad’ and to him it seemed pretty natural; Tabbruis was older and more seasoned.
Tabbruis smiled and was warmed to the bottom of his soul when Shane called him ‘Dad’.   Tabbruis shook his head and said, “No Shane, but I need to make arrangements right away for our safety.  I called this morning for help, but we will need more.  The threat is still out there, and we are not safe here.”
Shane’s stomach flipped at the thought and nodded at Tabbruis and said, “I understand.  I was in a security detail in Iraq, I can help.”
Tabbruis said, “You first and only job will be taking care of your mother.”
Shane nodded,  “Yes Char, I mean… mom… will be okay.”
Tabbruis left to go into the other room talking on his cell as he did so.
“Well, Mom… it’s a boy!” Shane said as he laughed and teased Charmeine with goofy eyes.
She laughed too and said, “You always could lighten any situation with humor.”
Shane reached over to hold Charmeine’s hand and said, “I always knew there was something there from the very first moment I saw you in the orphanage, I knew you were special.  I don’t know why I didn’t realize it earlier, but you always acted like a mom.  Always on my ass keeping me in line like you did.”
Charmeine smiled and said, “I have constantly loved you, you know that?”
Shane smiled and said, “Yep even when you were kicking me in the butt making me do the right thing all the time.”
Charmeine hugged Shane and he returned it by holding her tightly.
He smiled and said, “I think the breakfast is cold but I could use some food… Mom?  Wow, it’s going to be funny getting used to calling you that.”
Charmeine chuckled and said, “Well, get used to it my baby boy.”  She handed him a plate of lukewarm eggs, bacon, cut up fruit and toast.  She made a plate of fruit and toast for herself.  Charmeine said, “Well, I guess it’s going to be pretty hard to explain to Sandra that I am your mom, and Tabbruis is your father, huh?  I mean we are all almost the same age.”

Shane shook his head while taking huge bites and swallowing the food down.  He said, “Nope, not with that voodoo stare Dad has.  He can convince anyone to do anything.  Sort of like Obi-Wan Kenobi in Mos Eisley, when he stares down the Imperial Storm troopers to let them pass, you know?  I would love to have that trick up my sleeve.”  Shane mock stared at her grinning wide while he was gulping the last of his food down.
Among other things, Charmeine wondered why Shane had not inherited any of their powers.  However, she thought it was better he was a normal human.  This was his world since he was a child.  Charmeine’s mind was flinging question after question one right after another as she was eating her cold toast and drinking her lukewarm coffee.
Tabbruis came into the room rubbing his hands together and smiling.  He had already showered, shaved and changed.  Charmeine thought how could ever think he was human; he was dressed in black jeans and boots with a tight fitted black T-shirt over his muscles.  His green eyes were bright and his hair was combed back with his bangs of dark chestnut hair on his forehead.  He also smelled terrific and she warmed when she caught his scent in her nose.
Tabbruis said, “Listen you two; I have a lot of things to say and I need no arguments from you…”  He scanned their eyes for confirmation.
Charmeine nodded and Shane said, “Okay… shoot.”
Tabbruis took a breath and said, “I have wealth.  I have a place where we can go and be secure.  I know the terrain there and have security put into place for our transport and transition there.  First, Charmeine…” he bent down and picked up her hand while it was sparking.  He said, “My love, my Charmeine.  I love you!”
Charmeine looked into his deep green eyes and saw he was telling the truth.  She sighed.
Then Tabbruis and Charmeine heard a chuckle across the table and both stared at Shane.  He said, “Oh, go ahead folks… just keep the mushy stuff to a minimum here.  I’m trying to keep down my cold breakfast.”  They all started to laugh.
Tabbruis pulled a dining room chair out and sat down.  With a serious look, he said, “Now, I am having both of your apartments cleaned out and your belongings are being shipped with us.  All of our cars are coming too.  We leave on my jet in 90 minutes.  If you do not have your passports, do not worry I have connections that will get yours done and waiting at the airport for us.  I need you two to get your showers and change into comfortable clothes for travel.  It will take us several hours to arrive there.”
Tabbruis held up hands and said, “I do not want any arguments, it is being done so our family can be safe.  Nothing and I mean nothing is more important than our family being safe.  Do you both understand?  No arguments!”
Shane and Charmeine began to speak, but he looked at them in their eyes and said, “It is for the best we do this to protect our family.  I need you dressed and ready to go to the heliport in about twenty-five minutes.  Do not worry about packing what you have at the hotel either, everything is being shipped, and we will have it shortly after our arrival.”
Charmeine took a deep breath, no use arguing with her ‘husband’ when he used the ‘voodoo stare’ as her son called it, even though she knew it never worked on her.  She said, “May I ask one question?”
He nodded reticently, “Where are we going Tabbruis?”
Tabbruis looked her and Shane in the eye with a big smile.  Charmeine looked at Shane with a bit of anxiousness in her stomach.
Tabbruis said with a sparkle in his eye, “Romania!”

“What are your novels about Emily? What is “The Light-Bearer Series”?

English: Romantic

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have had tons of questions lately about my snippets and what my novels “The Light-Bearer Series” are about.  I just thought that since most of the people who receive this blog post are my friends, I wanted you to know why I am so passionate about “The Light-Bearer Series,” and love to share my passion with you!
First of all, plain and simple… I LOVE ROMANCE!
That’s it… I just love a great story of finding love,  keeping love and being in love!  When I wrote the novels I wanted a story to reflect that premise.  Also, I really wanted a series of novels that was inclusive of everyone… no matter how different or broken.
I wanted “The Light-Bearer Series” to be about a classic couple… Tabbruis and Charmeine… who had to fight Heaven and Hell to be together because they were so different.  She being an Angelic, Light-Bearer and Tabbruis being a Hellish Blood-Hunter… how they accepted and loved each other’s differences and short-comings… isn’t that what love is about… ACCEPTANCE?
Representing the famous balcony scene from rom...
When you see your love ones, you don’t see their idiosyncratic behavior or faults… you see the wonderful and special person that they are!
Now, when I wrote “Charmeine,” I wrote an epic novel.
When I say epic… I don’t mean “War and Peace” epic but somewhat close to it!
When I got published through PDMI Publishing, my publisher said, “Emily, not for nothing but your novel is going to be about 800 pages!  You should really think about splitting “Charmeine” up!”
So, I thought long and hard about it.  I was very resistant to change.
However, I looked at other novels in my genre, Paranormal Romance, (PNR), Young Adult, (YA), and the publisher was right.  So that is why I split “Charmeine” into three novels “Charmeine,” “Mactus” and “Accendo” which are easy to read and not get lost in.
Then I had to follow suit with “Ransom” also.  I had to split “Ransom” into two novels and they are “Seditious” and “Ransom.”
So, I have been giving you snippets of these wonderful LOVE STORIES for months now.  I have enjoyed it immensely!
However, now, I am doing them now with a twist and giving you a snippet but also giving you a personal thought at the end with a video emphasizing that post.  I love music very much.   As a musician, this is a wonderful way to convey what my feelings and post are about!
PDMI hasn’t got all of the novels on Amazon yet but they are coming soon!
Also PDMI Publishing is making me a new website:  http://authoremilyguido.com/
I hope when it is finished you will join me there.  Take a peek at it… it is awesome!
SO without further ado… these are my novels and what each one is about!
PS: at the end I have a little video treat for you too!
Neal said, “If you do not mind Tabbruis, please allow the flight attendant to clean and change her clothes.”
Tabbruis nodded and said, “Yes, but I will be the one to do it.  Just ask the flight attendant to bring her travel bag.  I will need some towels, soap, water and privacy while I clean her.”
Neal made the arrangements and left the room, so they could have privacy.  The flight attendant brought in a few bowls of soapy water and towels.  She also brought in Charmeine’s travel bag.  Then Tabbruis asked her to leave.
Turning to Charmeine on the couch, Tabbruis said with a tear in his eye, “I guess I am the one to give you privacy now.”  He looked at her beautiful face while he took off the ripped turtle-neck and bloody camisole.
Tabbruis gently cleaned her removing the blood on her front back and in her hair.  Never looking anywhere except her face, he dried her off and took another camisole out of the bag and put it on her.
Then he thought, ‘Her rose lotion she liked so much, did she pack it?’  He reached in the bottom of the bag and found it.  Tabbruis knew she loved the rose scent and rubbed it on her tanned arms.  The smell of roses brought back a collage of memories of Charmeine.  The first night he saw her, while he was carrying her to the limo, he smelled roses.  The nights he held her, she had put it on right before she came to bed.  Charmeine was intoxicating to him.  Her love of roses reminded him of her love, purity and beauty.
Tabbruis found a thin zipper hoodie, and carefully put it on her.  Charmeine’s jeans were soaked with blood and his stomach turned when he thought about what the Blood-Hunter wanted to do to her.  Just looking her face, he took off her tennis shoes and gently unbuttoned and unzipped her jeans.  While doing this, he said, “I never thanked you for the way you treated me last night.  No one, Charmeine…” and he held back tears “has ever treated me with such kindness and tenderness, but you offered it to me like you have an ocean of it to give.”  Still looking into her face, he slid the jeans off keeping her panties in place.  Tabbruis reached in the bag and pulled out a pair of yoga pants.  He put them on her while looking at her face and then put her shoes back on.
Tabbruis made sure all the blood was off of her, and she was clean and perfect.  He took out her hair brush and began to brush her soft golden hair.  It was beautiful and it curled around her face.  He held it in his hands and thought it really was like spun honey.  He put the brush back in the bag.  Tabbruis sat back on the couch and put her head back on his lap.
Tabbruis rang for the flight attendant saying, “Please I need a few favors; please remove these things, bring me a pillow and blanket for her, please ask my son and Neal to come in now and please, we all will require refreshment.”  The flight attendant smiled and nodded, taking the bloodied basins of water and bloody clothes with her.
A minute later, Neal came in bringing a cut crystal decanter of blood.  Tabbruis said questioning look on his face, “Donated?”
Neal looked at Tabbruis with an expression of disbelief and said, “Yes, Tabbruis, I do not take human life to sustain my life.  I have been this way for hundreds of years.  But over the centuries, I have come to like a little extravagance.  I enjoy drinking blood from crystal rather than plastic donor bags.”
Neal handed Tabbruis a crystal glass of blood, and Tabbruis smiled.  He could not argue with his sentiment.  Tabbruis drank and it was very nice.  Shane came through the door.
Tabbruis beamed, “My son, I am very proud of you.  You saved your mother’s life, and I will never be able to repay you for your courage.”  Shane’s eyes began to tear up.  Tabbruis noticed his red hair was still hanging down and not tied up.
Shane came over and touched Charmeine with tenderness on her cheek and kissed her forehead.  Charmeine turned her head still sleeping and smiled.  Tabbruis said, “You have always been able bring a smile to your mother’s face.”
Shane said, “No, I was always getting into trouble and Char was constantly bailing me out.  She always knew when I was lying, so I had to be always honest with her no matter how hard I tried to lie.”
Shane’s face became filled with regret and said, “I remember one time, I was caught with a bunch of the guys from the orphanage when we accidentally set fire to the tool shed.  We were facing criminal charges of arson and they were going to send us off to Westbury, Long Island Juvie prison.  Char… or Mom… showed up at the Suffolk County Courthouse when we were up in court for sentencing.  She insisted on speaking with the judge.  See they had no evidence that we set it intentionally.
We had just gone out to smoke in the tool shed.  It was cold and we didn’t want to stand outside.  However, the butt wasn’t put out all the way.  She insisted that we be given work detail and probation instead of serving time because if they couldn’t show evidence of pre-meditation, no one got hurt, and the shed was valued at less than $1000, we were not guilty of a sentence that required jail time.
Charmeine always my light
Well, the judge was so impressed that he made us serve our time at orphanage doing year-round yard work.  You name it.  We did it.  We raked leaves, shoveled snow, planted flowers, weeded and mowed.  The custodian thought that we were the best thing to come along since sliced bread because he did not have to lift a finger outside.  To her credit, it kept us out of trouble and close to home.  We had too many chores to be wandering away.
Char, well she was the only light in my life.  It is appropriate she’s a Light-Bearer.  She was always my light.”
We all have someone who believed in us and went to bat for us.
Today give them a call or a hug or think of them if you can.
This song came out in 1973…
I memorized it immediately….
I used to sing it all the time!
I just lit up whenever I sang it!
Love and enjoy the day!
“Burdens of Responsibility” snippet of “MACTUS” from the Second Novel of “The Light-Bearer Series”
[image error]
English: The “Darnley Portrait” of Elizabeth I of England, oil on panel, 113 x 78.7 cm, National Portrait Gallery, London (NPG 2082). Probably painted from life, this portrait is the source of the face pattern called “The Mask of Youth” which would be used for authorized portraits of Elizabeth for decades to come (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Tabbruis replied, “Yes very much so.  However, Elizabeth I was like you, over-burdened with responsibilities.”
Charmeine said, “I don’t have to run a country Tabbruis.  She was the Queen of England for goodness sake!”
Tabbruis shook his head and said, “No, you do not understand.  Bess cared about her subjects and felt like their mother.”  He sighed and asked, “You care very much for your family, do you not?”
Charmeine answered strongly, “They are my life!”
Tabbruis said, “That is exactly what I mean.  Elizabeth’s subjects were her life also.”
He got a look on his face of a memory so thick Charmeine thought she could touch it.  Tabbruis said, “In 1588, England got word the Spanish Armada had set sail for England.  The Earl of Leicester gathered forces to meet the invasion at Tilbury.  It was a somber moment for us who gathered there to fight, and our faces were black with hopelessness and desperation.
Everyone on the windy shore thought they were meeting their deaths.  I knew I would not be destroyed, but my friends would fall.  As the Queen came to address the troops at Tilbury…” he sighed and looked down not wanting to go on.
Charmeine got up and came and put her hands on his shoulder and arm.
Tabbruis turned to the picture and said, “Elizabeth’s speech at Tilbury must have been inspired by God.  She was a woman with insurmountable problems and odds for all of her life… especially on that day.  When she addressed her troops, townspeople, farmers, and boys who gathered to fight, I remember the part where she said:
‘I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realm; to which rather than any dishonor shall grow by me, I myself will take up arms, I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field.’
English: Elizabeth I at Tilbury
You see Charmeine, the Elizabeth was telling her soldiers, her army, her subjects, her children she would die with them in the field of battle.”
Charmeine looked at the picture and the determination on her face.  It warmed her soul.  She asked, “She loved her people and would fight for them too?”
Tabbruis replied, “Yes, my dear Charmeine, but the question is, will you succumb or will you have the inner strength…?”
Interrupting him, she asked, “Inner strength?”
Tabbruis swallowed hard, looked deeply in her eyes and answered, “The inner strength to conquer your fears and accept the great responsibility of ruling your people.”
Charmeine was feeling faint again.  She went to a chair, sat down and said, “It would have been much easier to give myself to the Elder Council.”
Tabbruis came around and sat on the couch next to her, “Yes, I guess you are right.  It would have been much easier for you.  Your burden would be extinguished.  However, the evil Elder Council would still be in power never to be stopped.”
Charmeine let go a big breath and said, “That is why you were so angry with me when I wanted to give up.”
Tabbruis nodded his head, got up, crossed over to the window and said, “Yes; I was incensed.  Nevertheless, my anger was on many levels.  I was angry you could leave me, our son, and our life together.  It was never based on the Prophecy.  The anger I had was based on my selfish wants.”
Tabbruis saw out of the window Shane, Sandra, Neal, Thomas and Dmitri all exchanging blows and sword fighting.  He noticed they were laughing and joking with each other.
Tabbruis heard Dmitri yell, “Mactus!” to Neal as they sparred and then it was echoed by the squad.  “Mactus, a call to victory and a job well-done!” shouted Dmitri.  Tabbruis felt like he was carrying a heavy load on his shoulders too, a burden to keep Charmeine from sacrificing herself to save her family.
Tabbruis needed to convince Charmeine to fight!
Sometimes we have a huge mountain to climb,
personally or professionally…
It is easy to give up.
To take the easy way out.
I have loved this song since 1985…
The lyrics speak to me… pushing me… making me forge ahead…
“Charmeine Going Postal!” snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”
Charmeine said, “Yes. Sandra and I were trying to find something to wear for practice tonight.  I was feeling a little odd.  I opened the door and went out on the Terrace for some fresh sea breeze to clear my head.  Sandra was in the bathroom changing.
That is when the man, Pascal, appeared.  The alarms went off as soon as he revealed himself to me.  I didn’t have time to react, but Sandra…” Charmeine and Sandra looked at each other smiling, “Sandra ran onto the terrace like Bruce Lee and rapidly cracked him the skull with a kick and gave him two synchronized body blows.  Later she gave him another kick which made him crash into the stone railing.”
Shane said, “We came in as she gave him a kick and he landed across the terrace,” he was proudly smiling, “but I didn’t know she did those punches before.”
Charmeine nodded and Dmitri said to Sandra, “Oh my… Brava my dear, you are a little bundle of wonder, aren’t you?  I will say combat like that, untrained, shows a lot of promise.”
Neal and Dmitri nodded their heads.
Thomas said with his head held down, “I am deeply sorry for the threats my Father gave to you both.”  Then Thomas said with a steely determination, looking at Charmeine and Sandra, “My Father will be stopped!”
Charmeine said, “I have told you before Thomas, you are a part of my family now.  You are not responsible for what ‘the Little Bo-Peep creep’ does!”  She smiled and said, “Sandra and I are fine.  He didn’t hurt us at all, and as a matter of fact, I think Sandra hurt him!”  Thomas was eased but still seemed resolute in his conviction.
Dmitri turned to Charmeine and looked her in the eye, “While you were… say… transfigured?  You said a few things, and I wonder if you could explain?”
Charmeine stopped smiling and took a big breath, “Yes.  I know, but I don’t know where those words came from.  I… I mean I don’t know.”
Dmitri said, “My dear sweet Charmeine, you still have no idea do you?”
Angrily Charmeine shook her head and stood up, “No, damn it!  I’m damn frustrated and confused is what I am!  Why does everyone treat me like an imbecile?  I have no idea what is going on, but I am a quick study gentlemen.
Never underestimate me!  If you know something, you need to tell me what in the Hell is going on!”
Everyone in the room looked at her in a state of astonishment.
Incensed, Charmeine got up and went over to the big mantle fireplace.  She thought it was so big; her dining room in Holbrook could fit into it.  She pounded on the stone mantel piece with her hands and they began to spark.  Disgusted, she turned around and looked at her hands glowing.
Then she looked at all of them and yelled, “Damn it all to Hell!  Look, I don’t want to be a Light-Bearer!  I don’t want to be a Queen!  I don’t want to be anything special or even do anything special.  I am not special!  I am just so damn fed up with all this bullshit!  All I want to do is be with my husband and family.  There is nothing more important to me.  As God as my witness, I don’t know what is going on with me!  I don’t know why I say the things I say and do the things I do!”
Charmeine shook her head in utter disgust and shouted, “Just leave me the Hell alone, damn it!”
Tabbruis started to get up, and as she was running out, she said turned back threateningly with her hands lit up looking at him.  She commanded, “That means all of you!”
Charmeine ran out of the Great Dining Hall, and Tabbruis got up to follow her.
Dmitri shouted, “I would not do that Brother.  She needs time.  You have had centuries to deal with who you are, but she has only had days!”  Tabbruis sat down frustrated and concerned with his head in his hands worrying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ALL of us have had these moments when frustration overtook us…
Releasing the anger is good, I believe…
Unfortunately it is usually directed at the ones we love…
No better song could relate to this….
It was released in 1982, and from the moment I heard it, I have loved it…
IT ROCKS!!!
