Oliver Clarke was born in London in 1973 and grew up near Cambridge. He began writing as a teenager and has been putting pen to paper for over 25 years, focussing mainly on the horror, crime and science fiction genres.
In 2012 he published his first novel, Sunliner, as an ebook. He has subsequently published a number of horror and crime short stories.
Oliver lives on the south coast of England with his wife and son. He is a self-confessed watch and gadget geek.

Drood is an absolutely fascinating book and a very ambitious one. Like Simmons’ The Terror it’s a vast period novel, that takes historical characters and blends in heavy doses of weirdness and pulpy adventure. At almost 800 pages it’s very long, but Simmons’ writing is skilful and it never drag

I enjoyed this less than I expected to. It’s certainly propulsive (in the first half especially) but I found the characters and events failed to really pull me in.
