Caught Reading: October Reads

This month, I’m rereading Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear. I loved it so much the first read through that this time I want to take my time going through it. Not that I hurried the first time, or skipped sections so I could “get it done”. It was just that there was […]

What I Know For Certain…About Time

I’m a September baby, which means that my favorite time of the year is the fall. It’s the time of year when life settles out. The kids go back to school. The garden gets pulled out and cleaned up. The flowerbeds get one last trim before the winter freeze sets in. And everything slows down […]

Caught Reading: September Reads

This summer, I’ve been writing a lot, working on book three of the Caught Between series. When I’m not typing away on my MacBook Air or scribbling on my sticky notes, I’ve been outside playing in the flowerbeds, riding my bike around town, and basically enjoying the summer heat. But it’s cooling off here now, […]

Caught Reading: June Reads

So many books to read and never enough time!

My Goodreads Challenge this year was to read 52 books. I’m a little behind due to the release of my latest book, Caught Between a Lie and True Love. Plus, we had an early spring here, so I’ve been outside without the heavy shackles of winter boots, jacket, mitts, and toque. Totally lovely!

I’ve planted all of my annual flowers, and the early perennials are already blooming. And these days, as I type away, I’m able to open the office window and let the fresh air and sounds of the outdoors in. Right now, bees are buzzing around the screen window and the birds are chirping from their lofty position in the nearby spruce trees.

A good deal of my time has been spent at the youngest’s farm which he purchased last spring and took possession in mid-August. Due to some issues with the old farmhouse, we’ve spent the last nine months tearing out the inside guts of the house: insulation, electrical, flooring, and the last thing to go is the plumbing. But that’s all a story for another day. :)

We’re here to talk reading, so here are my June reads.

Taken Away by Patricia Yager Delagrange

Art Before Breakfast by Danny Gregory Getting Out of Hand by Erin Nicholas

The Way We Fall by Cassia Leo

What are you reading now, and do you already know what you intend to read in the weeks ahead?

Caught Between a Lie and True Love released!

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’m baking cookies for the family—my “mom” task for the week—a mouth-watering chocolate chip cookie recipe that my baby sister shared with me years ago. The cookies got me to thinking about the cookies in my new Caught Between series, which led me to thoughts about the relationship between the heroine in the first book and her mother.

Paige Calhoun’s mother abandoned her when she was only four years old, and headed to Hollywood to become an actress. Now they’re both back on Serendipity Island. Here’s a small snippet from one of their scenes…

When Paige entered the kitchen and saw an explosion of dirty dishes spilling over the edges of the sink, scattered from one end of the countertop to the other, she stopped.

Definitely not her grandma. Gram always washed dishes and tidied up as she worked.

The oven timer buzzed, the screen door swung open, and Lisa stepped into the kitchen. When she saw Paige, she froze. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize anyone else was up. I’ll just get out of your wa—” Her gaze slid toward the messy countertop, and it was as though someone had stuck her blowup body with a pin. Her shoulders slumped, her ribcage caved in, and she shrunk by almost four inches. “Never mind. If you can’t stand to be in the same room as me, then you’ll have to leave.”

Lisa grabbed the oven gloves off the countertop, swung open the oven door, and pulled out a tray of cookies. They looked like chocolate chip, and they smelled delicious.

As the other woman straightened and closed the oven door, her normally pale skin was rosy from the heat. She twisted her neck slightly and, with one exquisite eyebrow raised, stared at Paige. “Well, then, good morning.”

Looking for a light hearted, fun book to relax with on Mother’s Day? Pick up Caught Between a Lie and True Love at the special Mother’s Day price of $0.99.

From my heart to yours, wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Caught Writing: Cover Reveal

I’m a little bit behind in my April reads but I have a really good reason. Honestly. Truly. In fact, I have—almost—the best reason in the world.

(And no, I didn’t have another baby. Or solve world hunger…sorry.)

Book one of the Caught Between series is almost here. In fact, it’s due to hit the online bookshelves next week!

Caught Between a Lie200x300

Caught Between a Lie and True Love: This book includes a family phobic heroine, a hunky hero whose luck—and love life—are about to change, lies, romance, chocolate chip cookies, nighttime shenanigans, a con-artist who swears he’s gone straight, teens with their own agenda, and a battle of the sexes secondary romance.

Stay tuned for more…

Caught Reading: April Reads

For April’s Goodreads Challenge, I’ve selected a book by one of my favorite authors (Cheryl Cooke-Harrington…love, love, love her fast paced writing style!) and Elizabeth Gilbert’s latest release. I’m also delving into a time travel romance (by Jennette Marie Powell) and a recommendation from last month, a fantasy novel by Tameri Etherton, which happens to be free on Amazon right now.

In March, I also squeezed in a Young Adult novel, the first in a series by H.M. Ward, so I’m including that here.

So now, let’s talk about what you’re reading now. And what books or authors do you recommend I try out next?

Time's Enemy by Jennette Marie Powell Rock Solid by Cheryl Cooke-Harrington

The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert The Stones of Kaldaar by Tameri Etherton

The Arrangement by H.M. Ward

Next time up, I’ll share the new cover for my upcoming April release Caught Between a Lie and True Love.

Happy reading!
