GOAT Soccer/football
The discussion about GOAT in soccer (and all sports, given how they've changed over time) is always an interesting one. But the discussion about whether Messi or Ronaldo is the best, shows that even if the greatest are playing in the same era, at the same time, the issue is not so clear cut.
Now, there are plenty of arguments out there for either player, but basically, in games against the best teams (club or otherwise, but mainly club) they come down to:Messi bc he's a more all round player. Look at his assists and goals and other plays. Also, even if his numbers don't match up, he does more than what the numbers can say and his teammates let him down.Meanwhile the arguments for Ronaldo are that he basically scores and has the assists, especially in the big games.
Now, I used to be in the Messi camp, especially since he's such an all round player (and also a better dribbler). But now, I'm more and more in the Ronaldo camp. The big thing is how well he's done in the big games. And the even bigger thing is how he seems to bring up the players around him. Messi, when things are going downhill, doesn't yell or do anything to bring up the players around him. Is this fair? Not really, but it plays a big part in how I see each player. So in my estimation Ronaldo's big game turnout gives him the edge.
In the end, we're simply lucky to have seen these two players and will miss them when they go (though, seriously, that they haven't met in a CL final the last decade seems just crazy)

Every Accusation is Projection. The Right is going to try to steal the election part infinity.
For example, recently there has been some cases of SPD officers (mostly right wingers, and mostly people who don't live in Seattle, but hate Seattle and the people in it, for some reason)[1] using their precincts to register their votes. Now, I don't think this is the end of the world, but let's look at how the right will treat this versus some rando (usually a darker person) who has even one thing off in their voting record.
The same goes for Trump using non residence places as a voting address. So when the right screams mail ins will be rife with fraud, I can only think that they have big plans for fraud. Every accusation is projection with these idiots. Stay alert out there.

Welp
Well, we have the POTUS and the grifters around him going all out on "NO, there isn't any issue with Covid it is all under control and we are fine look at that line going up!". That's what happens when you vote a SFB reality TV star into your White House.
I've made (and I'm certainly not the first one to do so) the point that people will put up with oppressive authoritarians, but they will hardly suffer under inept corrupt types. It has always been thus, and one can't help but wonder how long the grifters in charge of this country will get to run riot while screaming "socialism for me, hardcore capitalism for thee".
I'm not sure, but given the second wave of Covid and what will happen to the economy, I'm guessing it won't last too long. But what form will it take? We've already had the protests in the form of BLM (the second civil rights movement) that have continued under Trump. Will they get worse? The good thing is that it seems like the protests are filled with white, black and brown people. The future is looking good, but when the powers that be see colors uniting, they certainly will try to drive wedges between us. Will they succeed?
I'm not sure. What do you think?
Also, I have another piece of art that has been published. Enjoy it when you can:

Quarantine? more like Quareadtime
Just finished Book of Night Women. It's by Marlon James and is really good. More or less cements James as one of the best writers of this century. It's extremely violent, so beware, but damn worth it anyways.

Cancel Culture has erased our history, says incompetent President.
Who has erased history like a 5 yo child on coke. As has the right. But now they see paint on a statue and scream ten years for thee! The ancien regime is corrupt beyond belief but also acting like a cornered wolverine. Be wary. Their games and obfuscation will only increase from here.

Party like it's 1968
well, POTUS, or SFB* as I like to call him, is tweeting and retweeting LAW & ORDER like some five year old spirit of Goebbels. I and others have called him a carnival barker many times, but it's more and more obvious when reality runs hard against him (the virus, and soon the economy). Baghdad Bob will have nothing on him, even if he does try to blame all of it on others.
Oh, and right now, he's talking about the That being said, the "save the crappy statues" and "LAW AND ORDER" spasms our dear leader has are indicative of where his lead-addled brain is stuck. In that, it must be stuck in the 70s and 80s. So he thinks this will work (luckily it isn't so far). Some have stated that the white backlash to the civil rights (and the lead-fueled rise in crime) had real implications for this nation and it may be that, but it's also true that we're talking about a very different time.
Remember, 1968 was as far from us as it was from WWI. Think on that. [1]
Nevertheless, I'm still impressed, though that so many people still like him. I sense many of the economic problems are only now making their way through the system. Some friends have been laid off. More than just the service industry now. Damn. Be safe everyone.
*shit for brains, for those who are truly lost. Him and his lead-addled generation have only continually proven themselves in this regard.
[1] Though, a sad common denominator is that there was white supremacy and reactionary oligarchic powers through it all.
