The Next Big Thing!
The Next Big Thing ~ Blog Hop 27 Feb THE NEXT BIG THING – BLOG HOP
What’s a blog hop? It’s a great way readers can discover new authors! Here, I tell you all about upcoming novel due to come out this August. You’ll also get links below to other authors I’d like you to check out. I’d like to thank fellow author Jennifer Garcia for inviting me to participate.
You can find her HERE
In this particular hop, I’ve answered 10 questions, giving you a few exclusives and sneak peeks … I hope you enjoy!
1. What’s the title of your book? The Journey of Champions
2. Where did the idea come from? The Journey of Champions is the second book in The Journey Collection, the first was released as a part of Harvest Treats, Book Three of the Candy Collection. The idea came from my own home town and watching the way people embrace High School football and the players like their a God.
3. What genre does your book come under? Contemporary Romance, or even a loosely based Young Adults.
4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? This is always a hard one for me because I tend to see my own characters inside of my head, and not anyone famous, but for Travis, I guess I'd say Bradley Cooper and for Penelope, I see Michelle Williams.
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Travis faces the hardest journey in his life when he has to leave Penelope and Max and return to Maimi.
6. Is your book published by an independent publisher? Yes, all of my books are available through Renaissance Romance Publishing, which I co-own with Michele Richard and Laura Braley.
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Not long at all. I wrote the first novella, around 25K, in a matter of a couple of weeks. Then when I decided to particpate in NaNoWriMo, I decided to expand on the storyline. I write roughly 56K, which consists of the next two novellas and part of the fourth, in two weeks.
8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Gosh, I don't know. I'd say it's somewhere along the lines of something that Nicholas Sparks might write. The road for Travis, Penelope, and Max isn't always easy, but they manage.
9. Who or what inspired you to write this book? The storyline is based in my hometown of Clarendon. Football around here is huge, and the town really comes out to support those boys. In fact, the town really comes out to support all of our students, whether it's sports related or academics. When sitting down to write The Journey Collection, I wanted to show that spirit.
10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? I like to think that people will see a bit of themselves in my characters. It's not always easy to do the right thing, and sometimes, the right thing isn't black and white.
Thank you so much for joining me. I hope you go on to read the authors listed below next Wednesday for their post. Please like my Facebook page.

The Mirror of The Moon
Today, I'm excited to bring you the new cover for Travis Simmons' The Mirror of The Moon!
The Mirror of the Moon by Travis Simmons
With the death of one of the companions, Grace must answer for the secrets she’s kept. The path before them is ever lengthening in their quest for Amber. There are changes they all must face, and when Joya enters her trials of sorcery, danger lurks around every corner. The power within Angelica and Jovian is strengthening and with it comes confusion. What are they? It is painfully obvious nothing like them has ever existed before. Why is it at times they seem more one person than two separate people? With all the mystery surrounding their latent power, Angelica stumbles upon a passage in a book of sorcery indicating she is evil. Could she be the Mask prophecy speaks of? Is she destined to turn against her own flesh? To make matters worse, the Well of Wyrding (a giant well that controls all sorcery) has been breached and wyrd itself is spiraling into chaos.
Author Biography: I have always been a do-it-yourselfer. I haven’t had any formal education on writing, and I haven’t been raised around writer types. For that matter, I wasn’t even encouraged to read when I was a kid, even though plenty of people in my family read. When I was a teenager, I discovered Cliff’s Notes on Mythology, and it sparked something in me. It was like a floodgate had been opened, and all of these stories started rushing in. I would get ideas at random times, and I would jot them down. I have a pretty big file system of everything I have ever written. Someday I will get to them and put them all into electronic files. There is some good material in there, but there are a lot of bad stories too. I started writing when I was thirteen or fourteen. At an early age I was already writing books of Saracin (the world The Bonds of Blood takes place in). The first book I wrote of that place was “The Calling of the Two” (not yet released). While I was writing that, I kept thinking of these characters Jovian and Angelica. I knew they had a part to play in the storyline, but they weren’t going to be in the same series. For that matter, they weren’t even going to be in the same age. As I finished the first draft of “The Calling of the Two” I went on to write the first book of Angelica and Jovian’s story. At that time it was The Mirror of the Moon. Later an editor told me it was so massive that I should make the one volume into two, and so The Bonds of Blood was born, and The Revenant Wyrd Saga went from a planned three to six. That story has taken many forms until now, and I am sure if I didn’t declare that it was “done” it could continue to transform.

Amazing New Cover Reveal!
I am so excited to be bringing you the new cover for Hunted, the first book of The Gates Legacy. Having already had a chance to read it, I can assure you that it is going to be an amazing first book in an awesome series. So, without further ado, I present to you Hunted:
Hunted, Book One of The Gates Legacy
Deep in the heart of New York City’s underworld, a horrible disease is ravaging the vampire community. The Vampire Council is on a crusade to obliterate those infected, and Harrow Gates is target Number One. The unwitting source of the plague, he suffers from the same nightmarish symptoms as his victims. The world he'd been thrust into was cold, cruel, and intent on eradicating him, and the legions of afflicted vampires he created with his bite. A bounty hanging over his head, satisfying his hunger has become an enormous challenge for Harrow. The less he feeds, the more hideous and painful his lesions become. Constantly running for his life and learning new tricks to survive, Harrow is in no position to refuse when Pritchard Tack offers him a unique opportunity. Pritchard not only gives Harrow a new beginning, but also a purpose and a chance to rectify the chaos he created in the vampire world. However, the multi-billionaire has an agenda of his own. Jordan is a reluctant new vampire and a woman on a mission. After the demise of her family and her own transformation at the hands of Goran, the ruthless leader of the Vampire Council, her only focus is revenge. Constantly faced with one frustrating dead-end after another, a stroke of luck leads her to an underground facility that she suspects is the lair of the monster for whom she is looking. Upon learning more about the truth behind the secret bunker, Jordan must fight against her growing feelings of friendship and concern for the facility’s inhabitants. One man in particular threatens to pull her heart away from her sworn mission. There is something behind Harrow’s dark lenses that unsettles the hardened female. Once again, she trembles and hungers for something other than red-stained revenge. Is love strong enough to override her hate-fueled thirst for vengeance?
Author Bio: Lorenz Font discovered her love of writing after reading a celebrated novel that inspired one idea after another. Hunted, the first book of The Gates Legacy trilogy, is her debut novel. Written in forty-five days, the grueling writing schedule was a personal challenge, even though she thought it was madness at first. She enjoys dabbling in different genres with an intense focus on angst and the redemption of flawed characters. Her fascination with romantic twists is a mainstay in all her stories.
She currently lives in California with her husband, children, and two demanding dogs. Lorenz spends most of her free time writing while also working as a Business Office Manager for a skilled-rehabilitation hospital.

R.E. Hargrave celebrates her newest release, To Serve is Divine
One year ago, Michele Richard, Laura Braley, and I released our first book together through Renaissance Romance Publishing. Life is More Than Candy Hearts was not only the first book in the Candy Collection, but set us off on a grand adventure of finding the most amazing authors to work with. Over the last year, we've worked with several, and one of those is R.E. Hargrave.
R.E. first joined Michele and I for the last book in the Candy Collection, Sugarplum Dreams with her cookie-sweet novella, Sugar & Spice. A month later, she released her next book, a sensual BDSM story entitled To Serve is Divine.
An Excerpt from To Serve is Divine:
Jayden’s eyes trailed her careful movements while she made her way to the edge of the dance floor with her wine in hand. The fuck-me heels she wore forced her into a slinky sway that couldn’t be ignored while she glided across the room, and Jayden’s cock punched at his jeans again. The music changed to one of his favorite songs, and Catherine began dancing in place. That was his undoing. Jayden had to have this woman – here, tonight. He stepped in front of her and was surprised to find her eyes closed while her body moved pendulum-like to the music. Extending his arm, he took Catherine’s empty hand in his, raised it to his lips, and then grazed her knuckles with light kisses. Her eyes flew open mesmerizing Jayden by their emerald color. Even in the dark of the room, he could tell how vibrant they were. He imagined that in full light they would be distracting in the extreme, in addition to making him question the usual desire he had to blindfold his subs. Before she could drop her wine glass, he removed it and set it on the tray of a passing waiter. Her lips parted in a slight gasp when Jayden leaned in and whispered the first words that came to mind with his tone taking on an automatic controlling tenor. He had to wait, but a moment later, he was rewarded with her breathy, “As you wish, Sir.”Those first words from her mouth hit Jayden like a wrecking ball causing him to look her over with a closer eye. The accent, the skin tone complete with a light dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks, even the stereotypical red hair and green eyes left no doubt in his mind that she bore an Irish heritage. This aroused and intrigued Jayden — so did the uncharacteristic way that he wanted to keep hold of her hand. Wanting to test her claim of being trained, he convinced himself to release her hand and turned to walk toward the far side of the dance floor. When he reached the hall that led to the private rooms, Jayden paused and glanced over his left shoulder. She was about two feet back with her gaze lowered. Perfect. They proceeded down the hall until they reached the door to Jayden’s favorite room. He nodded at Steven, the attendant on duty, and collected the key to the room once he’d scrawled his name on the sign-in sheet. Jayden stepped in and to the right after unlocking the door.Catherine followed and proceeded to the middle of the room before stopping. She dropped to her knees and placed her hands palms up on her thighs. Her gaze stayed down the whole time. Shutting and locking the door, he hung the key on the hook installed for that reason, and then turned to her with a smile.Jayden took his time letting his practiced eyes peruse her form. Her posture was straight and sure. The width of her stance and placement of her hands were exact. Her breathing was steady. There was no question in his mind; she’d been trained. The Dom kicked off his shoes and pulled his shirt off before walking over and kneeling behind her. Pushing her long ponytail off her back and over her shoulder, he leaned in and placed a kiss on her shoulder.“Hello, Catherine,” he purred into her ear.

Catherine O’Chancey is a reserved, demure, and graceful submissive. All traits she trained hard to enhance when she discovered the world of Dominance and submission in college. In an attempt to start fresh after the unexpected death of her last Dom, Catherine moves to Dallas, TX to escape the shroud of darkness he left behind in her life. She has tried to fight the need that resides deep within her to submit, but finally has to admit she can’t for it is not a choice, but part of who she truly is. After months of mental preparation, she ventures back into the lifestyle by attending a coveted open-night event at Dungeons and Dreams, an exclusive BDSM club. Is it fate or coincidence that Catherine garners the attention of one of the club’s board members who happens to be on the hunt for the perfect sub – a partner who enjoys receiving pain and pleasure as much as he enjoys doling it out?
Jayden Masterson is many things: a firm Dom, a shrewd businessman, and a gentleman. What he isn’t, is someone who partakes in relationships outside of contractual ones with his multiple, un-collared, regular submissives. While he likes rough sex, he is not an animal, and can find pleasure only if it is consensual. What his harem is missing is a pain slut; could there be one in his future?
Upon meeting Catherine, Jayden feels an instantaneous spark inside him that has him wanting to know not just her body, but her mind. He wants to unravel her mysteries and discover her secrets. Through pain can they find the pleasure they seek? Can part-time pain lovers find full-time fulfillment when it’s not in their contract?
Thank you, R.E. for joining me today and being a part of Renaissance Romance Publishing!

The Ending of a Trilogy
Today, I am lucky to have an amazing author and friend with me. I first met Michele Richard just before she released her first book, Mocked by Destiny, and over time, we became friends. She's written several books, but her latest is the last in her Mocked by Faith Series. Today, she's stopped by and talked with me about how she feels with the end being here.
~*~*~*~
It’s bittersweet really. I know I did the characters justice and told their story, but I’ll miss them. They’ve been a part of my life for three years. I do have a spin-off planned but it will be only one book and will stand alone from the rest. Mocked by Silence will follow one of their son’s own struggles in a not always just world.
I will openly admit to crying as I wrote and edited the last few chapters of Mocked by Faith ~ Affirming the Faith. How could I not when I was saying goodbye to two characters that had been with me since I started publishing?
Mocked by Faith was the first story I actually started writing for the TWCS writing contest. They chose to publish Mocked by Destiny first. I was fine with that since the characters from each book are not connected order of the first books released really didn’t matter to me. I was just thrilled to be sharing these novels with the world.
When my fans tell me they cried or laughed with these characters it shows I did it right. Of course they also tell me I love to torture my characters! Admittedly I do, though it’s not on purpose. I just listen to the characters and write the story as they tell me what happened.
So … with great sorrow I say goodbye to two friends who have shared their world and love with me. Justin and Alexia will forever be in heart.
Thanks for letting me stop by today!Michele Richard

Jason E. Maurer stops by to chat
Today, I'm lucky to have Jason E. Maurer on my blog. He's a newly released author of a great new m/m Book! Without further Ado, here is Jason's Guest Post:
~*~*~*~*~
Now that my novel “Trust and Love” is finally finished and published on Amazon and Smashwords, I’d like to touch on the source of the material.
I always wondered what it would be like being on stage in front of an audience with fans screaming my name.
While in high school I performed in several musicals with the drama club, but was always the shy one, not wanting to draw much attention to myself. I never had a starring role in any of the productions, but that was okay because I felt content being part of the ensemble. It was fun just being up there in front of an audience.
This is where the main characters of “Trust and Love” arose.
Trevor Harper is the star of the novel, and his celebrity status as a musician is secretly the epitome of everything I wanted to be during my formidable high school years.
The second main character is Nathan Parker, the so-called “obsessed” fan that takes an instant liking to the music that Trevor has created.
“Trust and Love” is mostly my version of the fairy-tale life I imagined for myself while obsessing over my favorite band as a teenager. However, there is something more important and deeper than a mere fantastical and unlikely love story.
The “It Gets Better” Campaign is one of the central themes to my novel. This is important because there have been so many unfortunate losses within our society. These teenagers, boys and girls alike, thought that suicide was the only way out of the problems they had to deal with. It breaks my heart to know that these innocent young teenagers were bullied, tormented and hated for being different, for being gay.
I wanted to touch on the subject in my novel, in a way that wasn’t condescending to the memory of the real victims. I feel I’ve done a good job with the story and the way I’ve expressed the importance of standing up for yourself and what you believe in.
Overall, “Trust and Love” is a testament to the bullies in the world, and my way of saying, “I survived the torment, and so will you.”
In my opinion [and maybe I’m biased, being the author and all] “Trust and Love” is more than just a mere fairy-tale love story because it deals with such important issues. It may seem a bit too starry-eyed at times, but the message remains the same:
Never Give Up, Because We Will Never Give Up On You.
If you are anyone you know is depressed and in need of someone to talk to, there are plenty of resources available that offer help. You can even email me at itzjem@gmail.com for my telephone number, and I will gladly listen.

Author Bio:
Jason E. Maurer is the author of several short stories and novels that range in genre from romance to mystery, and everything in between. The work he produces is the result of a mind that can only be defined as ‘eclectic’.
His latest novel “Trust and Love” is a gay story that centers around the hope for a better future by advocating the “It Gets Better” Campaign, a cause that helps prevent teen suicide.
Jason lives in central Pennsylvania, and has chosen to dedicate his spare time [which at this point is anytime he is not sleeping] to the pursuit of the American dream on the road to happiness.

Cover Reveal for To Serve Is Divine by R.E. Hargrave
So excited to be revealing the cover for the upcoming release by R.E. Hargrave. To Serve Is Divine is an amazing new book about two lovers, one a Dom, one a sub, who are searching for someone to fulfill the needs of the other. Without further ado, here is the cover:
R.E. Hargrave is a fledgling author who has always been a lover of books and now looks forward to the chance to give something back to the literary community. She lives on the outskirts of Dallas, TX with her husband and three children.

R.E. Hargrave visits for Christmas!
First, let me say: Merry Christmas to everyone!! I hope that wherever you are, you're safe and happy!
Today, I'm blessed to get to spend some time with another new and amazing author: R.E. Hargrave. She is one three other authors who joined me on Sugarplum Dreams, and I can't begin to tell you how much I love this lady. R.E. and I chatted about how she feels as a first time author, so enjoy!
Well, let me start by saying hello and thank you for having me! I've spun thousands of words into a story of family, survival, and love yet I am admittedly at a loss for words to talk about myself. I'll give it my best shot, though.
You want to know how it feels to have a dream come true? Exciting and nerve wracking at the same time! I'm proud of Sugar & Spice, and can't wait to share my first original piece with new and old readers alike.
I say “old readers” because I've spent roughly the last two years writing fanfiction – something I stumbled onto by accident and read voraciously for about a year before I decided to try my hand at writing my own compositions.
In a way these last couple of years have been a time of conditioning for me. I've learned how to stretch my mind to bring a story to a satisfying end, refreshed my dormant grammatical English skills, and learned to believe in myself. The jitters that come with sharing something that you've poured yourself into never completely go away no matter how many times you do it. A new story is still new, and while readers might have liked the last five things you wrote, this could be the one they don't. It's a gamble you take. I've been fortunate in that I've received very little negative feedback during this time, but a whole lot of support and encouragement has always been forthcoming – and kept me writing as a result.
The majority of what I have written thus far is non-canon because I took advantage of the opportunity to try out different genres and writing styles. It's been educating to say the least. Hands down the feedback of my readers has been my most precious resource. Without them I would not have taken this leap. From supernatural and fairy tales to pirates to sexual deviancy I've written them all – in the fanfic world.
Now it's time to leave the safety of the playground and venture into the big, bad world.
Sugar & Spice is my first foray into the Young Adult category so while I have the typical pre-release nerves, I am eagerly looking forward to seeing how it is received. Considering my writing to this point has been carried with adult themes I had to give that little bit of extra to let just the story itself give this one backbone. Challenging yourself is rarely a bad thing.
I keep finding myself surprised at the effort and care that goes into the process of bringing a book to life. It's thrilling every time a new step is revealed and that flutter of “Oh my goodness this is really happening!” takes over your body. There have been the days of thinking I would never get the story finished and the days of questioning if I have any business calling myself an author. I have to give a big thank-you to the ladies at Renaissance Romance Publishing for all the times they've stepped in and talked me down from the ledge.
Of course, once you're off that ledge it's hard to ignore the probing fingers of anticipation that eventually begin tickling you.
Like a country girl that has been uprooted and finds herself relocated to a bustling city, I am now embarking on a brand new adventure. It's scary, it's humbling, and while sometimes it's difficult I can only be grateful that I've been given this amazing opportunity.
Thank you, R.E. Hargrave for stopping by! You can find her book, Sugar & Spice and our Anthology, Sugarplum Dreams at the following links:

A little bit about M.B. Feeney
Today, I am blessed to be getting a chance to sit down with new author, M.B. Feeney. She's one of four authors who have just released a new Anthology entitled "Sugarplum Dreams." I had the honor of getting to work with M.B as one of the other three authors and wanted a chance to ask her how it feels to release for the first time. Here is what she had to say:
Firstly, let me say thank you for asking me to post on the blog. I’m honoured that people are even interested in little old me.
It’s amazing and also slightly overwhelming. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, and being published always felt like a pipedream as I never believed I was good enough. Sure, my friends had always enjoyed my stories, but that’s what friends do... isn’t it? I couldn’t believe it when Michele, Laura and Lisa told me during our Skype call that they liked it, even more shocked when they told me that it may (at that point) go into the 4th instalment of The Candy Collection (I submitted it for a different anthology originally). That statement actually blew me away, and I thought for days I’d made it up, but I hadn’t.
When I started writing Right Click, Love, I don’t think I was consciously planning on submitting it to Ren Rom. I originally started to write it as a possible submission for another publishing house, but knew I wouldn’t finish it on time and I actually misplaced the notebook I started writing it in for a long while. When I finally got into it, I just wanted to tell the story. I’m not a writer who’s characters “talk” or anything like that, but I do get an overwhelming urge to finish a piece when I am truly in the zone and the story has really gotten to me. Usually, when I write, I struggle with dialogue and making it believable. I don’t know why, but I worry my sarcasm doesn’t often translate well onto paper. Thankfully, I’ve been assured that it does.
To be honest with you, I don’t think I would have put my work out there if it wasn’t for the support of some amazing friends. I wrote Twilight fanfiction for a couple of years and each time I posted something new, I almost passed out from fear of people not liking it. Publishing is a whole different ballgame. It’s not just whether people like it or not, will they buy it? If they do, will they actually read it, or are they only buying it to be nice and supportive? These are the things that I worry about with *checks calendar* seven days until release. Also, unlike the other ladies who are featured in Sugarplum Dreams, I don’t have a readymade fanbase, either from previous published works or from my fanfiction. I feel very small fry compared to them (They are geniuses by the way, and amazing authors).
It’s been amazing to have the support of, not only the Ren Rom head honchos, but also the other authors and the editors. I may not agree with self publishing per say, but I have a new found respect for those who do it all themselves. I know for sure that I couldn’t go through this without anyone to moan at or to question the life out of. Even though I’m the token Brit, I feel as we are a family of sorts and families support each other.
I feel like I haven’t really answered the questions, but I feel this post is an excellent indicator of what my thought processes are like at the moment. All over the place. I am so nervous; I can’t stick to one thing at the moment. I’m trying to take each day as it comes, but someone (usually Lisa on facebook) reminds me how swiftly things are approaching and it throws me into a tailspin. So, really, the only way I can answer the question is: Bone Chillingly Nervous
