COVER REVEAL: Renewing Hope by Jennyfer Browne
Renewing Hope Blurb
The journey for Kate Hill and Nathan Fisher continues…
Kate Hill hopes to leave her English past behind her in order to be accepted by the Amish of West Grove, and marry her love, Nathan Fisher. But as she struggles to win over her Amish neighbors, she discovers that the sordid past of the Bishop’s son has caused a rift in the small community. Shunned for living the English lifestyle, Benjamin Yoder finds a friend in Kate, and wonders if there is hope in returning to the Amish life he misses.
Nathan Fisher wants his old friend, Benjamin, back with the Amish for many reasons- by forgiving Benjamin his English transgressions; surely the community will accept his Kate. With the Bishop’s steadfast obstinacy towards the English blight on his flock, it will be up to Kate and Nathan to heal their community by bringing home the son of the Bishop and renewing hope in the Amish through forgiveness.
Excerpt #1
“Bishop Yoder, pleasant day.”I froze with a pie in my hand at the name on Ethel’s lips. Turning, I found the Bishop standing in front of the booth, eyeing the baked goods and jams. When he looked up to find me standing there with pie in my hands his friendly face faltered and a slight sneer appeared. It only lasted an instant before the man standing beside him spoke. I hadn’t even noticed the young Bishop, Zachariah Ropp standing there. “It is good to see you again, Katherine Hill,” he said with a courteous nod of his head. “I have heard many say your baked goods would make a fine addition to this market.”The Bishop’s eyes narrowed at the young man’s compliment. “I am happy to offer whatever I may, Bishop Ropp,” I replied, my voice soft.Fannie came up beside me and transferred the pie in my hands to the table. “She is blessed in her baking,” she replied simply. “You have taught her much then,” Bishop Yoder stated, never taking his judging eye from mine. “No, she was blessed before she arrived with us, Bishop Yoder,” Fannie replied. “I dare say she outshines my own skills.”“Really?” Bishop Ropp asked, his eyebrows rising slightly. “Naomi Yoder has said that no one can cook like you. Your cakes and dishes are always the first to go at your Sermons, I hear.”Fannie wrapped her arm around my waist and smiled. “Not any longer, I think,” she said. “I do believe Katherine’s pies disappeared while the main dishes were still hot on last Sermon.”“You will make an Amish man very happy one day,” Bishop Ropp said before jerking his head toward his elder Bishop, who made a strangled noise in his throat. Clearly Bishop Yoder didn’t think so. “An Amish wife must know more than simply how to fill her husband’s belly,” he muttered and nodded his goodbye before stalking off toward the horse auction. Bishop Ropp looked after him for a moment before offering his clipped farewell and following after. Ethel patted my hand and gestured toward the retreating Bishops. “Do not worry over Bishop Yoder. He has just forgotten what a meal made with love tastes like.”“I do not think Nathan Fisher starves so,” one of the other women teased. “Leave her be, Mary,” Sarah said, winking at me as my blush deepened.
Excerpt #2
Perhaps this was the last test for members wishing to join the Amish- supper with the Bishop’s family to dissect the candidates one last time. So as the men entered the kitchen, with Nathan and Benjamin nervous under the Bishop’s critical eye, I tried my best to show everyone all that I had learned and lived by. I was quiet. I prepared a plate for the Bishop before anyone else. I kept my gaze solidly on my water glass unless spoken to. I spoke softly. I didn’t dare look up at Nathan although I could feel his eyes on me. I could feel every eye on me.“What do you plan for the spring, Nathan?” I heard the Bishop ask halfway through the meal. “I hope to increase my crops for the spring,” he said, his voice timid. “Perhaps wheat this year, or soy.”“How do you plan to do more when it is only you?” he asked. Nathan cleared his throat and I could hear his fork slide on his plate. “I have hope that I will not be alone come spring.”The room was quiet for a moment, the only sound that of chewing and forks along dishes.“My son has his job at the mill. I do not see him offering much aid come spring.”“No sir, I do not intend to rely on Benjamin to help in my tasks,” Nathan replied and cleared his throat again. “I hope to have my wife to help.”Another awkward silence. “And if you do not marry?” the Bishop asked. “You have hardly any stores for winter now. Jonah has taken your livestock to help you, but even he cannot support you.”“I intend to marry, Bishop Yoder.”I made the mistake of chancing a glance around the table, my eyes going wide at the scene. Nathan stared intently at the Bishop who waged his own war glaring at me, while Benjamin looked to his mother for help. Naomi was the only smart one in the group, keeping her eyes on her peas as she pushed them around on her plate. Finally the Bishop’s wife let out a noise and placed a hand on her husbands arm, pulling his searing gaze from me. “It is time for Nathan Fisher to marry. That house has seen its mourning. It is time to fill it with children once more,” she said and smiled my way. “Katherine Hill may have a past we do not know, but she has brought our son home and his friend back from a darkness that would have swallowed him. I look forward to spending time in the sewing circle with her.”The Bishop turned his gaze slowly back toward me, his look an unreadable mask once more as he spoke. “We shall see.”

Hunted (Gates Legacy #1)
Deep in the heart of New York City’s underworld, a horrible disease is ravaging the vampire community. The Vampire Council is on a crusade to obliterate those infected, and Harrow Gates is target Number One. The unwitting source of the plague, he suffers from the same nightmarish symptoms as his victims. The world he'd been thrust into was cold, cruel, and intent on eradicating him, and the legions of afflicted vampires he created with his bite.
A bounty hanging over his head, satisfying his hunger has become an enormous challenge for Harrow. The less he feeds, the more hideous and painful his lesions become. Constantly running for his life and learning new tricks to survive, Harrow is in no position to refuse when Pritchard Tack offers him a unique opportunity. Pritchard not only gives Harrow a new beginning, but also a purpose and a chance to rectify the chaos he created in the vampire world. However, the multi-billionaire has an agenda of his own.
Jordan is a reluctant new vampire and a woman on a mission. After the demise of her family and her own transformation at the hands of Goran, the ruthless leader of the Vampire Council, her only focus is revenge. Constantly faced with one frustrating dead-end after another, a stroke of luck leads her to an underground facility that she suspects is the lair of the monster for whom she is looking.
Upon learning more about the truth behind the secret bunker, Jordan must fight against her growing feelings of friendship and concern for the facility’s inhabitants. One man in particular threatens to pull her heart away from her sworn mission. There is something behind Harrow’s dark lenses that unsettles the hardened female. Once again, she trembles and hungers for something other than red-stained revenge. Is love strong enough to override her hate-fueled thirst for vengeance?
Tormented (Gates Legacy #2)
Tor Burns is a non-infected vampire who has taken refuge in the Tack Enterprises underground facility. Having survived a vicious attack with his fellow vampire Harrow, he now has a new purpose. Vampires afflicted with Gates Syndrome are still being hunted, and Tor is committed to saving them from the clutches of the Vampire Council. With a semi-cure within their grasp, Tor is reluctant to accept his new assignment: bodyguard to Allison Tack, the daughter of their fallen leader. Armed with an abrasive personality and fierce loyalty, Tor approaches this new responsibility with serious determination despite his reservations.
Vampire Allison Tack is the beautiful and timid co-heir of the Tack fortune. Infected and hunted by the Council, those lucky enough to have known her father are determined to keep her safe. A walking target wherever she goes, Allison wants to learn how to protect herself, but no one is listening. Sick of being the helpless one in the company of trained fighters around her, Allison vows to prove that she can fight alongside the best of them.
Meanwhile, the harem leader, Melissa, is hell-bent on unraveling any clue about her son Demetrius’s fate. He disappeared without a word, and time has made her desperate. Stepping up her efforts, she seeks the help of Demetrius’s son, Zane. With the additional manpower, Melissa finds the lair of the suspected vampires and wages war against them.
Thrown together by necessity, Tor and Allison can’t continue to deny their attraction to each other. Tor wants to give in to his feelings for her, but old demons resurface. He must confront the past to prevent losing the best thing that ever happened to him.
A life must be given for a life taken. Will Tor have to sacrifice himself before Allison pays the price?

GUEST POST: The Northern Gate by J.C. Clarke
On December 6, 2013 the first of four volumes of The Edelyn Legacy released on Amazon.
The Northern Gate by J.C. Clarke
Genre: Fantasy/Romance
I asked J.C. Clarke a couple of touch questions for today's post, and I am so amazed by her answers!
Question 1:Being a graphic artist, too, who has made some incredible covers, how hard is it for you to step out of the mind of the artist and move into the role of a writer? And how do your covers effect your writing?
Hmm, now that first one is a tough question to answer. The simple answer, I think, would be that I never step from one mind to the other. I never switch off at all. The more complicated answer, I suppose, is that I see both graphic design and writing as art, just in different forms. I use pictures to create a new world when I’m writing and use my writing to create pictures. You should see me when I add music into the mix, lol.In general, I do find it hard to bounce between the two different subjects most of the time, but I do get the rare day when I can use both together and it works out okay in the end. I’ll see a random picture and I get an instant story idea hit me and I just have to write it down, even if I never write any more about it. The same goes for my writing. My mind will come up with the perfect picture, so I go hunting and the next thing I know, a few hours have gone by and I have practically nothing written! With The Northern Gate, from very early on I didn’t want people on the cover. I wanted a nice, simple cover that drew in the reader because of the book, not who was on it. I promise not to rant too much here, but most of the book covers these days are full of half-naked people that don’t really portray the books at all. Now, if that sells a book, good for them, but I didn’t want that. The logo, which took me hours to design and used up every swear word known to man, is very important to the books and I knew that was what I wanted on the cover. I also had great help from R.E. Hargrave and M.B. Feeney with the design, because I’m my own worst critic. I’m never happy with my own designs, so having them there helping out was amazing. Now, how do my covers affect my writing? A lot, I think is the best answer, really. As I mentioned above, the pictures can take over or the writing does. I haven’t found the happy middle ground yet, but I’m working on it :)
Question 2:What challenges do you face while writing! Now, does that include the standard ‘Being a mum, wife, cook and cleaner’ etc. . . ? Well, I have the normal challenges that come along with the above and those of an author, too. I have trouble finding the time to write, because the characters never have a routine of when they want to talk to me and I can’t work to a timetable either. I’d get a lot more written if I had the ‘Ooo, five minutes spare, let’s speed write’, but I don’t. I have gotten into the routine of taking a pen and pad with me when I’m out, too, because I’ll get a good idea and by the time I’m home, I’ve forgotten it.One challenge I’ve faced when writing, was what I was writing. I’m from the sunny south of England (although it’s rather cold and cloudy today) and because I wrote Fanfiction for nearly four years with American spelling and grammar, I get stuck. I’m so used to writing this way, that even when I write a letter to my kid’s teachers, I have to double check I got the spellings right!Content is another issue I have. I can speed write until I end up with about 10-12k and then the plot goes dead, or slow moving. I have about nine stories that are currently in this state. I’ll get back to them one day, but until then, I’ll just wait for the next storyline to hit me.

Summary:
According to the Bible, God created the world in seven days, but what if the beginning happened before Humankind documented it for posterity?
Humans didn’t see everything clearly, because they didn’t understand. They turned away in fear, forgot the beings that had come to Earth and, over time, the Seraphim became nothing but a legend, a bedtime story. Corruption and greed, bred from hatred and evil, spread across the face of the earth as Humans evolved and developed. It was in this filth, and amongst the seven deadly sins, that Tabitha Morgan was born and kept alive, hidden in plain sight from the darkness.
For seventeen years, Tabitha thrived under her grandmother’s guardianship, living a normal life and not knowing the truth about her heritage or the roots from which she came.
That all changes the day a handsome stranger named Nathan walks into her life. Will the ancient secrets he holds be enough to earn her trust? Is it the Light, or does Darkness await them beyond The Northern Gate?
Excerpt:
The thick bonds ate into the prisoner’s pale, filthy skin, and it bled against the steel. He was numb to the pain now. Instead of letting the misery cripple him, he smiled with a dark grimace and channeled the biting sting into anger. Knowing they thought he was weakening, though he was far from it, he had bided his time. With each new moon, he had grown stronger; he was fighting back. The prisoner was going against what was in his blood by nature; he was resisting what his father had given him, the tainted blood.
For centuries, maybe even longer, he’d been held in that small cell, not being fed except when his captors saw fit, and he’d spoken to no one. His jailers refused to even breathe near him, let alone converse. All he’d had to occupy his time were his thoughts and the constant, slow trickle of water seeping down the damp walls of his underground prison to pool at his feet.
Soon, the time would come when he would be free of the tomb in which he’d been encased, and he would be a person of freewill once again; he would make sure of it. So very soon.
The prisoner planned to ensure he would hear, and remember, the sounds of his captors’ deaths: every bone crushed would be a manacle opening and the sound of tearing flesh, a choir of the Seraphim.
His freedom was paramount if he were to accomplish the job he’d been given so many millennia ago. He would end the vicious circle of chaos and fear his world had been turned into.
Every mark and scar on his body would serve as reminders of what he had been birthed to do, willing him to follow his destiny. A course had been set for him to walk the earth to complete his mission: to find her. His goal was to hunt her down and tell her everything that had been kept from her: who she was, who she belonged to, and where she came from.
He would become her protector.Would fight for her.Live for her.And die—for her.

REVIEW/PROMO: Honour by M.B. Feeney
MY REVEIW: One of the hardest things for an author to do is tell a compelling story in a few word. Ms. Feeney has done that time over time. Her collection is moving, heartwelling, and tear-inducing. I give her 5 STARS and recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing collection.
Summary:
The world is filled with people destined to help and to serve. Doctors, nurses, police, and firefighters—each and every day, these special people work to help others in times of need. Often, this means putting their own lives at risk in order to do their jobs. They give of themselves to benefit society, and they do it without any expectation of thanks. And then there is the military…
These are the men and women who don’t head home to their families and safe homes to relax at the end of a shift. They are on the front lines, far from home and often fighting someone else’s battles because it is the right thing to do. Military families struggle to cope with the constant worry and the long periods of separation, staying strong to support those who serve in everything they do, and often are left to pick up the pieces when the highest price is paid.
Servicemen and women are heroes in the purest sense of the word. Even when the world’s gone mad and their hearts are breaking, one thing remains unchanged.
They have honour.
Excerpt:
All his life, his mother had been there for him, gently pushing him to do his very best and allowing him the opportunity to make his own decisions, even when they led him on a path she wouldn’t have chosen for him. When he’d told his parents at age sixteen that he wanted to enlist in the Army, they supported him. The one thing they asked of him was that he finished his education up to A-Levels before he enlisted. They did try to talk him into going to college for a couple of years also, but he insisted that he would get better qualifications and experience once he was a soldier. As agreed, on the day that he received his exam results, his dad drove him to the Army Careers Office to begin his journey. “I’m so proud of you, son,” his mother whispered into his ear while clutching him in a tight embrace. “Never, ever forget that.”
“Thanks, Mum. I know you are. I love you.”
(Taken from the story Letters to No One) Author Bio:
M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. Currently at university studying for her BA (Hons) in primary teaching, she procrastinates on her assignments by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open. She is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition. Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has a novel under way whilst Honour, a compilation of her own military based shorts, is due for release 1st November 2013. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.

Synopsis:
Symptoms of time travel are never fun—ask Guy Moore. He just returned, and now he's being thrown back in time. His assignment? To impregnate Anne Boleyn. As an agent of SHROAG, he's completed more assignments than any other agent, and is ready to retire. Too bad Elizabeth I needs to be born to preserve history, and his DNA is the only one to do it. How will Guy seduce Anne, the woman who kept Henry VIII at arm's length for over seven years? And how will he keep from falling for her in his efforts?
“I will be there tonight—for you. Not for him. And I will touch you. If you do not want me to do that, then I will not be there.”She sucked in some air, and her gaze went up to the ceiling.“Lavender lady—do you want me there? Do you want me to touch you in front of the king and everyone else?”She remained mute and stoic.“When you make a decision, find me. I will await your answer.” He dropped his grip, releasing her chin.“Yes, sir.”“What was that? Are you saying I can touch you at dinner?”“Yes, sir,” she repeated. His groin tightened. She really was sweet and very beautiful, and her submissiveness came to her naturally when she wasn’t struggling to fit herself into a man’s world.“I will protect you. I will be there for you, and Henry will not touch you while I am around. If I am to play with you, then you are mine. No one else’s. I do not share, Lady Anne. So, when you are ready to take him as your lover, then you release me, and I will be gone from your life.”She made a quiet whimpering noise and her eyes twisted as if in pain.“Look at me—eyes on mine,” he said. Her gaze roamed down to his.“As your lord and sir, you will always wear your hair down like this when you are around me. I want it soft, straight and virginal—pure like you. I want you always smelling of lavender and finding some way to please me each day, even if it is something small.”She sagged for a moment. Were her knees buckling on her?He gripped her by the upper arms. “Follow these guidelines, and I am at your disposal. Any time you need me, you ask, and I will be there.”Her lips drifted into a small, but sweet, smile. “Thank you, sir.”“You are a naturally kind woman. Court life has hardened you—and I intend to undo that.”Her face fell. His hands on her arms loosened.“That would be the death of me. We all have parts to play at court,” she said, her voice soft.“And you have yours—serve and please me, and you will have everything you have ever desired. That I vow.”

Author Bio:
Chanse Lowell grew up in the desert southwest and still lives there with her husband, children, and pet cactus. She’s addicted to three things—reading erotica, writing erotica and sandwiches with a side of erotica to aid with digestion. She grew up watching programs with science fiction and historical fiction themes, and is determined she can combine her three favorite genres, creating a new breed of novel with scifi, historical and smut sandwiched in the middle.
The last thing she ever thought she’d do was pursue her dream to be a writer since her family tends to keep her busy. When she was introduced to fan fiction, she realized she wanted to see more science fiction and historical fiction to fill in the gap with lots of naughtiness thrown in, of course. Her true passion is creating her own worlds from scratch, letting her imagination go and take her to another place.
Having recently entered the BDSM lifestyle and discovering she’s a submissive herself has opened her eyes to how few stories there are exploring the softer side of the lifestyle. She enjoys chatting online with others with similar kinky interests and has advisers in the lifestyle that help make sure her stories remain true and don’t veer off into outer space. Although aliens probably enjoy kink, too, since they like to dress in rubber fetish-wear while traveling. At least that’s her argument for why her new genre she’s created is valid.
