RELEASE TOUR: Silver Bells by Jacquie Biggar

SILVER BELLS by Jacquie BiggarGenre: Holiday Romance
Mystery writer, Joel Carpenter, has no time for romance. He has a deadline to meet, and too many skeletons in his closet to trust the slightly spinny artist renting his house.

Christy Taylor has her hands full dealing with an ailing business and a diabetic daughter, she doesn't need the temptation that is her landlord, Joel Carpenter.

Can a Christmas wish bring two stubborn souls together and give a little girl the gift she wants most?A family of her own.

A pair of dark brown hiking boots—size enormous—came into her line of sight and her heart skipped a beat. Most people on the island were friendly and kind but she was a woman on her own and it was rapidly getting dark. How stupid.

She tightened her grip on the bag and cursing the fact she’d been so irresponsible, slowly rose to her feet, her gaze following the long, clean line of jean-clad legs, dark cotton shirt, tucked in and belted at the waist, open leather jacket, and chiseled jawline covered in a day’s worth of stubble. Glittering eyes stared at her from a deeply tanned, aloof-looking face.

“Quit following me.” The voice matched his visage, cold, harsh, and unforgiving.

So much for her fantasy hero, Christy stiffened and glared. “Kind of full of yourself, aren’t you?”

He leaned back and crossed his arms, his stance unforgiving. And to think she’d found him intriguing. Ha, more like infuriating.

“So it’s just a coincidence that every time I turn around, there you are?” He lifted a hand and she flinched. He hesitated, then rubbed the back of his neck. The rasping sound along with the backdrop of the swishing waves made her feel—restless.

“Look, I don’t do interviews, okay? Not even for cute little pixies. Tell your boss, next time I’ll call the cops.”

Incredulity overrode her curiosity. “Are you serious? I have as much right to be on this beach as you do, buddy. Trust me, you’re not half as fascinating as you seem to think you are.”

In between one breath and the next, Mr. Personality seized the bag out of her grip and delved inside.“Hey, give that back,” she cried, trying to wrestle it out of his grasp.

“If you have nothing to hide…” He pulled the drawings free and turned his wall of a back on her.

Christy couldn’t believe this was happening. Adrenaline zipped through her body, leaving her feeling more alive than she had in a long while. And it was all due to this… this jerk ripping pages out of her workbook while she stood by helpless to do anything about it. All that work—gone.

“Please,” she begged, her throat husky. “I meant no harm. I draw for a living. That’s all they are, drawings.”

At least the shredding stopped.

He leveled his gaze on her again, as though deciding whether to throw the whole bag out to sea or not. She really hoped not. It had taken months to save up for those pencils. They were the very best and made a huge difference to the level of her workmanship.

“Please,” she said again.

He hesitated, then folded the sheets of paper he’d taken and shoved them into his jacket pocket before handing over her bag.

“Next time you might try asking,” he said dryly. His voice floated on the breeze as he clumped away in those heavy boots. “The answer would’ve been no, by the way.”

Was it too much to ask that he trip over his enormous—arrogance?

#FREE: Paladine by Kenneth Eade

PALADINEby Kenneth EadeGenre: Thriller

2016 quarter-finalist in Publisher's Weekly's Book Prize in Fiction
Meet terrorism's worst enemy

From the best-selling & award winning author critics hail as "one of the strongest thriller writers on our scene" comes an unforgettable story of an unlikely "anti-hero."

Robert Garcia was an unremarkable man, tapped out of a promising military career to become a death squad assassin for the CIA. Retirement was not in the cards for Robert, so he disappeared instead. After he comes out of the cold to answer the call to aid a fellow soldier facing a bum rap, he is thrust back into the spotlight when he is in the wrong place at the wrong time and kills a terrorist, thereby saving dozens of lives. He finds gainful employment in the slaughter of jihadists, which sparks an urban social media legend that Robert, a dangerous and unfeeling assassin, is a living paladin, whose mission is to rid the earth of evil for the betterment of mankind. Social media gives him the name: "Paladine" and God help whoever gets between him and his next target.

The apartment obviously belonged to a bachelor, but it was neat and orderly, like a military man’s freshly made bed. The cushions on the couch were soft and comfortable and the Colonial style furniture practical and functional, rustic but not antique. The décor was earth tone and neutral, and the walls were peppered with tasteful framed prints, replicas of art that said nothing about the occupant. They were just hanging there so the walls would not be bare. There were no framed family photos on the tables, no stacks of well-worn books and no magazines. It was almost as if nobody lived there.

Robert Garcia was an unremarkable man. Other men, the exceptional types, could never be forgotten. Men of striking, imposing persuasion, or those with a certain superior intellect or cleverness. Robert held none of those attributes but, if you had the misfortune to have him touch your life in any way, and were fortuitous enough to live after the experience, he would be indelibly etched in your memory.

Robert’s characteristics were fine-drawn, precise. He could drift in on the night air with only a whisper of the wind, and then disappear into the shadows, the only place where he ever felt secure and content. At five-foot-eleven, dark-haired with a touch of grey around the edges, he was a chameleon that blended in with most crowds. But under the ordinary clothing he wore he had the body of a herculean powerhouse, chiseled and ripped. Née John Richards, Jr. to an American military career man who had taken a Lebanese wife, since Robert had been old enough to walk, he had marched in the footsteps of his father. When his country came calling, John Richards, Jr. proudly answered that call and served with pride as his father’s son, the nephew of his Great Uncle Sam. There was never any question of it. Working up the ranks the hard way, he made Captain, and it wasn’t long before his special traits and abilities landed him his first secret assignment, along with his first alias – Malik Abdul.

Malik was a name that had fit Robert well. He never did look or behave like a John Richards. That was a name his Anglo Father, John Richards, Sr., had insisted on giving the child and his mother dutifully went along with it. Eventually, it was adept profiling that helped Malik recognize his destiny. His swarthy skin and his second language – Arabic – made Malik a valuable asset to his country. Beyond his language prowess and physical attributes, Malik possessed a unique set of special skills, forged by intensive training and honed to perfection with experience. Malik and his band of assassins were utilized only in the most extreme of circumstances – covert operations for well-known agencies who called themselves by three letter acronyms – and the unknown ones as well.

Malik had tried to retire, tried his hand at transforming his life into the “normal” one of Robert Garcia, and had dutifully taken the number 4 train Monday through Friday, from his little brownstone in El Barrio to Two Penn Plaza, where he worked as a janitor. But Malik’s past had beckoned. It was a call he could not resist. He had come out into the open to support a fellow soldier who had been given a bum rap. About the only thing Malik had left which resembled a conscience was the soldier’s creed. He had no morals, no principles, except for those, which were burned into his hardwiring like a brand on a cow: The mission comes first; never accept defeat; never quit; and never leave a fallen comrade.

The comrade was Captain Ryan Bennington, an officer serving in the war against the insurgency in Iraq who had been sent on a mission by his superiors with instructions to breech four houses in an Iraqi village that intelligence had confirmed were being run by Al-Qaeda terrorists and kill any one of them who did not actively surrender. It was a mission the likes of which Malik – Robert – knew well, as he had been on many of them, committing unspeakable acts in the name of the War on Terror during the insurgency. Now the accused officer was being court-martialed and could face life in prison for simply doing his duty.

Robert had come back from the court-martial trial on the coast a ball of nerves, constantly looking over his shoulder. Now that the record had been set straight, Robert’s life was in a state of distress and disquietude. He couldn’t resume his job as a custodian. They could be watching for him there. He couldn’t return to the woman he had been seeing regularly, and who had given him hope that he actually could rejoin society after all that he had seen and done, and he couldn’t go back to the little apartment in the quaint brownstone on 118th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Spanish Harlem that he had called home for the past five years. Well, he had to come back here – for only one last time, he thought, as he shut the door behind him.

***

Now that Robert had exposed himself and his new identity to set the record straight it was, once again, time to slip back into the shadows. Without a glimpse of emotion, he had left everything behind in the top floor of that little brownstone that had been collected by Robert Garcia over the years –the furniture, the clothing, the little knick-knacks reminiscent of the life he had simulated. He also left something in the apartment that had never been there before, a product of his life’s work – something that he had not produced for the past five years – the body of a dead man, five-foot eleven, olive-skinned and dark-haired. He took one last look at the life of Robert Garcia as he threw the match on the floor and then slipped away.

RELEASE TOUR: A Magical Highland Solstice by Mary Morgan

A MAGICAL HIGHLAND SOLSTICEspinoff of the Order of the Dragon Knights seriesby Mary MorganGenre: Scottish Paranormal Time-Travel Romance
Laird Cormac Murray has witnessed how love destroyed his own father after the death of his mother, and he vows to never take a wife. Yet, when he comes upon a bewildered lass traveling alone, he finds his heart will no longer listen to his mind. In the end, Cormac risks everything to claim the love of a woman not of his time.

Eve Brannigan loves helping others and baking. After winning a contest, she is stunned to learn that the Clan Murray has requested her assistance to cater to their guests during the holiday season. When a lost path in Scotland leads her to a handsome but gruff Highlander, Eve fights the temptation to allow love to enter her heart for the first time.

Can the Fae and the magic of the Yule season bring together two souls who have forsaken love? Or will tragedies from the past separate the lovers forever?

When he recovered, he whistled for his horse. The animal trotted aimlessly to his side. Taking her elbow, he saw her flinch. “Would ye prefer to walk up the steep path to the castle? Or ride?”

Again, she bit her bottom lip. “I don’t know how to ride a horse.”

“Truly?”

She waved him off. “I’m not scared of the animals. I’ve never had the opportunity to learn.”

“Interesting,” muttered Gordon.

Cormac smiled. “Dinnae fear. Ye shall ride with me.”

Giving her no time to protest, he grabbed her around the waist and hauled her up onto Fingal. When he mounted his horse and settled behind her, Cormac felt her body stiffen as he placed an arm around her waist. He leaned next to her ear. Her mass of curls brushed his face, and he inhaled her scent—one of different spices. Lust instantly surged forth, powerful and intense. “Relax,” he urged in a hoarse voice. Though he found it difficult to do so himself.

He felt her tremble, but she nodded. Giving a tug on the reins, they moved up the path.

With each steady trot, her body swayed and Cormac tried to focus on the road. The castle.

Fighting in the lists. Bathing in the icy waters of the loch. Anything, but the soft curves of the lass’s body pressing against his own. What was wrong with him? He prided himself on being a man always in control of his emotions—especially his lustful ones. Yet, now he found himself confused, tongue-tied, and his gut twisted into knots.

So deep in his thoughts, he did not notice Fingal veering off the main road until the lass let out a giggle. She had the most musical sound, and he found himself smiling. Guiding his horse back to the path, he could hear his men doing their best to contain themselves. A glance back confirmed William was coughing loudly and Gordon trying his best not to fall off his horse.

“I swear Fingal, I am tempted to trade ye in for another horse. Ye must be going blind, or worse, old.”His horse let out a large snort.

Eve clicked her tongue in disapproval. “For shame, Mr. Murray. How cruel. I think he’s a kind animal. Perhaps it’s the man holding the reins who can’t see clearly the path in front of him?”

The lass was quick with the wit, he mused. “I dinnae ken your word, but ye may call me Cormac.” He leaned near her again. “And I can assure ye, I am nae blind, nor old.”

PROMO TOUR: Jack's Magical Beanstalk Series by Pablo Michaels

JACK'S MAGICAL BEANSTALK seriesby Pablo MichaelsOfficial genre of book: Adult fairy tale, gay erotica

In this adult fairy tale young, awkward, young Jack sells their prize cow Pearly White for magical beans to a strange man in a red bikini. Little does Jack’s mother, Lorene, know that the beans grow into a giant, magical beanstalk, high above the clouds?

Jack ascends the beanstalk to a land where a Giant Slave serves his larger Master, Jack begs Slave for food to satisfy his hunger from his long journey. But Jack finds Master hoarding treasures.

Attempting to escape the wrath of Master and Slave with the treasures, Jack encounters a handsome, engaging normal sized human man. Sam lives with others that live naturally without clothing deep in the forest. As Jack ages he becomes a handsome man, just like his father, attracting many men, including the two farmhands, Zeke and Adam.

Even though Jack has enabled the farm to prosper with the treasures he stole from Master and is met with increasing danger, he climbs the magical beanstalk again and again to find more treasures and pursue Sam.

Once upon a time, there was a poor widow named Lorene who lived on a reclusive, neglected farm with her frail son, Jack, and their dairy cow, Pearly White, a prime Guernsey. They also had several other milking cows which were Pearly White’s offspring. The poor widow raised Jack the best she knew how. They survived by selling milk at a distant farmer’s market each day to buy small amounts of food. While her handsome, masculine husband, Bill, was alive, she had been a real beauty. Bill, a strong six foot two man, had managed the crops without any help.

Bill and Lorene met at the county fair after a couple of rowdy, uncouth men made crude comments to Lorene regarding her beauty. Bill stepped in, discouraging any further catcalls. “Excuse me, Miss, are these men bothering you?” He had asked.

“I don’t appreciate what they have been saying, it’s true.” Lorene blushed at their vulgar behavior. “Okay, you cowards, it’s time you’re on your way if you know what’s good for you.”

The men immediately fled. Bill’s tall stature, muscular build, and commanding baritone voice left no room for argument.

“How can I repay you?” Lorene smiled at Bill. “May I offer you one of my pies?” She had entered her award-winning pies in the county competition.

“You needn’t repay me, Miss. Any gentleman would treat a beautiful young woman such as you with respect.”

Lorene not only gave him one of her blue ribbon peach pies but invited him for Sunday dinner. During their brief courtship, Bill wooed Lorene with beautiful love songs, serenading her with his smooth, baritone voice. They married that November.

They started their farm with a prize milking cow, Pearly White, and planted crops. Bill bred Pearly White over the years, her offspring providing more milk. In the evenings after they had eaten dinner, Bill would sing songs of love to his wife. Afterward they would make passionate love. Two years later, Lorene gave birth to their son, Jack.

Bill’s son brought a sparkle to his eyes. When Jack was three, he began taking him along while doing the farm chores. Jack idolized his parents drawing pictures of them. For such a young boy, he was quite talented. His parents encouraged him to pursue his art, allowing him to draw and paint whenever and wherever he desired.

Bill died when Jack was only five. He was struck by a lightning bolt during a severe thunderstorm while trying to bridal his horse and fetch Pearly White after she broke through a fence and ran off in fear. Jack remembered that day vividly. He had not feared the continuous lightning flashes, the loud booming thunder, or the rising water of the ensuing flash flood. He feared only the expression on his mother’s face when they found his father, his body singed from the heat of the lightning. His eyes were open, frozen with the undeniable pain. His mother’s face had always radiated peace and serenity, until that moment.

In this sequel to the adult fairy tale book, Jack and the Magical Beanstalk, Jack and Sam have been living happily together on Jack’s prosperous farm with Jack’s widowed mother, Lorene, and the two farmhands, Zeke and Adam.

When Sam started having nightmare concerning his father’s health, Sam became distraught and felt helpless not being able to go back to the land he was born, even though Jack attempted to find a way to climb back up high in the sky to Sam’s native land.

When Sam traded five prized bean seeds and a golden egg to the peculiar old man wearing only a red bikini underwear for five magic beans, he agreed to make it a secret and was unable to tell Jack. Adam was aware Sam was dealing with the peculiar old man and blackmailed Sam into having sex to keep his secret before Sam grew another magical beanstalk.

Before Sam could climb Sam climbed the beanstalk to help his ailing father, unaware there were two new villainous giants, Duchess Luscious Lips Loretta and Queen Buxom Bosom Belinda inhabiting the castle. Jack was left behind to save the farm after a late spring blizzard killed the crop of beans without any more prized seeds to plant.

Did Sam Save his ailing father and brothers? Did Jack figure out a way to save the farm from ruin? Did Jack follow Sam and save him from the wrath of the giants?

As a new member of the adopted family, Sam had to learn new customs. He had to adapt to his new way of life by wearing pants, shirts and shoes. As he had been accustomed in his tribe, hunting and harvesting food from the forests, he continued to gather food around the farm. Jack taught him how to farm on a larger scale, rather than the small, family garden Sam’s father had tended.

Jack learned new innovations from Sam for growing crops, such as building a pond to store water for irrigating the crops when no rain fell. One month, when they received no rain, the pond supplied water to the crops until the next rains came. Jack took Sam to market so he could know how to barter with the milk and crops in exchange for food and supplies that were needed on the farm. Although Zeke and Adam taught Sam new skills to help out on the farm, Jack made it clear that they were to keep their hands off the new handsome man.

Zeke abided by that rule.

Adam’s advances rose occasionally, but Sam soundly rejected any of his foolish fantasies.

Lorene loved Sam like another son she never was able to have.

Jack knew Sam well enough to know he was an independent man, not prone to confiding or dwelling on his worries. Jack felt comfortable with Sam’s easygoing nature and enjoyed his jovial sense of humor, especially the repartee of stories about growing up with his brothers.

But after a year, Jack detected traces of despondency Sam was hiding from him and the others. He knew very well Sam missed his father and brothers. It made Jack’s need to find a solution to take Sam back to the land he was born all the more important.

But in the spring, Jack’s responsibility to the welfare of the farm took presentence. He had a dream to diversify the kind of crops they grew. Walking through the fallow fields, he discussed his plans with Sam.

“I’m going to ask Zeke and Adam to plant most of the prized bean seeds.”

“Don’t you think that rash?” Sam questioned the large amount of seeds to be used. “Don’t we need those seeds to last for more than one season? You know the beans those seeds produce won’t grow the same beanstalks. They’re just ordinary beanstalks and don’t spread for the large distances.”

“That’s exactly my point. Those seeds won’t last forever. If we have a huge yield of beans, we’ll make more to trade with. We will be able to plant a variety of crops, next year. We’ll diversify and thrive.”

“I guess.” Sam hesitated with his approval. “It’s risky.”

“I know, but it could prove highly successful. Go get Zeke and Adam. I want to get started right away.”

Jack instructed Zeke and Adam to till the soil and ready the fields for planting.

Jack’s Magical Beanstalk & Sam’s Quandary is the story of Jack and the Magical Beanstalk seen through Jack’s partner and lover’s eyes.

The story began when Jack’s future love interest, Sam watched him flee from the evil giant Master with his bag of gold coins. When they met they were infatuated with each other. Through Jack’s escapades with Master, Sam eventually followed Jack down the magical beanstalk to live with Jack but the beanstalk had to be cut down.

Subsequently, Sam was prevented from seeing his father and brothers. When Sam discovered his father’s illness, he conspired to plant a new magical beanstalk, having to do so secretly. Adam the farmhand had his suspicions and blackmailed Sam into a sexual fling to keep the secret.

Did Sam save his father from sickness? Did Jack follow his lover when the farm faces ruin?

Once upon a time, two equally handsome young men lived on a prosperous farm. Sam and Jack were deeply in love and had devoted their lives to their relationship, their happiness, and the wellbeing of their parents, Jack’s mother, Lorene, and Sam’s father, Jason. But their widowed parents lived in different, far away worlds. Jack grew up on the farm, while Sam grew up high in a faraway land. They currently employed two loyal farmhands, Zeke and Adam, and had a prized cow, Pearly White that helped them survive through leaner times.

Sam and Jack fell in love years before when Sam lived in a land high above the clouds. In this different world, Sam lived with his father and brothers in a tribe inhabiting the forests, bordering a cobblestone road, leading to a majestic castle possessed by two giants, Master and his submissive servant, Slave. Often, Sam snuck into the castle to steal food for his family, especially when a member of his family became ill, the sickness usually Giant Fever. Although Slave gave morsels of food when Sam begged, Master delighted in feasting on humans like Sam. Sam developed his skill in running with exceptional speed to prevent being captured by the giants. Living naturally without clothes was a necessity to hastily flee them. Nudity, also enabled the people in his tribe to select their mates. It was only natural they went about their daily lives uninhibited and naked.

Sam first met Jack from a distance when Sam lurked in the background after getting food from Slave for his ailing father. Sam noticed a strange man who wore clothing, like the giants, but fleeing with Master’s bag of gold coins. Sam’s thought about this man he saw running for his life.

How strange. A man like me who wears cloths like the giants. There is something about that man I like. Where is he going? He’s definitely in a hurry to get away from Master. He must know that Master loves to eat us. That man must be adventurous to be bold enough to steal from this villain. I would like to meet him. Sam stared, and stared, and stared.

As Jack fled the pursuit of Master and Slave with the coins, he noticed Sam watching him from a distance. Their eyes locked with more interest than curiosity. Jack disappeared down through the ground, vanishing from Sam and the giants. Oh, no. Master has stopped chasing him. The man must have fallen off the ground into oblivion. That’s disappointing. I wonder where he was from. Sam thought the man had fallen off the edge of the world. So he returned to his family with food for his ailing father, thinking of the man who wore clothes. The clothed man left a deep impression in Sam’s mind, a rush of sensations breeding curiosity and desire.

Many people don’t like the word, “fat” but I do because it’s the truth and I’ve learned to own it. I am a fat chick and I always will be. When I first began to read romance, the heroines were all thin. I kept wondering, where were the fat heroines? I wanted to read about a fat chick who loved herself—or at least learned to love herself—and a hot alpha hero who liked her jiggly bits just the way they were. Since I didn’t find many big girls to read about, I decided to write about them, so Francesca Hawley – author of Romance with Dangerous Curves was born. In a Francesca Hawley romance, my readers will find authentic, sensual, fat heroines who love and are loved by their intense, passionate, and seductive Alpha heroes. GUEST POST: DOMINION by Lissa Bryan

Release Date: December 3rd 2016Published by: The Writers Coffee ShopGenre: Fiction, Dystopian

~~Guest Post~~

Ten Habits to Make You a Better Writer.

Ironically, I’m writing this article late, which makes my advice on discipline seem somewhat hypocritical, but stay with me, because I promise it’s stuff that will help you in your writing career.
1)      Yeah, here’s the discipline part, because it really is important. There are going to be many days when you don’t feel like writing, when you have no inspiration and every word is like pulling teeth. But you have to power through it. Write even if you don’t know what you want to write at the moment. Write some character’s backstory. Write a letter to a dead president. Write a scene in which your characters all slay one another in a terrible Shakespearean drama. Just write something. It’s important to exercise those muscles even if you don’t feel like doing it. Remember, every word you write is practice. You’re learning tighter phrasing, better descriptions, more fluid pace, and better grammar with every word you type.
2)      Taking criticism with grace. It’s harder for some to learn than others, because some of us have this heated instinct to defend our beautiful “babies” from anyone who would dare pick on them. But criticism is valuable. You can learn from it, as hard as it may be. Whenever you get a critical comment you have to examine it for what you can learn from it. Some complaints are just about personal preference, of course, but others — such as pointing out plot holes or technical errors in our writing — can help us improve our next work.
3)      Learning to “kill your darlings. In my first novel, I had a long scene that my editors suggested should be cut. I argued for keeping it because I really liked the scene, and thought it added a lot of important historical detail. But when I sat down and really thought about it, I had to admit that the scene had no real purpose. I could get the same point across in one sentence of dialogue. All it did was slow down the action. Which gets me to my next point…
4)      Remember your primary “job.” As a writer, your job is to keep the pace of the story moving briskly, to get the reader from one plot point to another. That’s why seasoned authors say that every scene in your book, every line, has to have a specific reason for being there.  Anything that can be trimmed without changing the plot of the story or losing an important detail about the characters should be deleted. This can be so very painful.
5)      If you’re in this for money or fame, you’ve chosen the wrong career. Yes, lightning does strike, and you can point to a dozen or so authors who have achieved fame and fortune. But for every J.K. Rowling, there are ten thousand authors quietly struggling to afford paper to print their manuscript. Everyone thinks their book is awesome and if people would just realize that, it would be a huge success. (Nothing wrong with that. You’re supposedto be in love with your own work.) I’ll put it bluntly: you have to love writing, because success in this gig is incredibly rare. The joy of creating something has to be enough to get you through, or you’re going to be a very unhappy camper.
6)      A comfortable writing chair is worth its weight in gold. ‘Nuff said.
7)      Sharing your work can be one of the most difficult steps, but you’ll be glad you did it. I’d been writing stories in my head all my life, but it wasn’t until I was thirty-five that I was finally brave enough to type one out and share it with the world. I was scared to death that people would be cruel. (I had my exit strategy already planned in case that happened.) But what I found was an extremely supportive environment for new writers. There are so many groups out there who nurture “fledgling” writers. They’ll help you through every step of the process.
8)      Editing, editing, editing. I cannot emphasize enough how important professional editing is.  I you’re content just sharing your work with friends and family, sure, don’t worry about editing. But if you want anyone else to read it and enjoy it, you have to do it, and you have to get a professional. No, your friend who’s good with English won’t do. (If you had a broken tooth, would you go to your neighbor? No, you’d want a professional!)I’ll tell you a story: I’d been doing my own editing in my stories, and I fancied myself quite good at it. When I submitted my first manuscript to the publisher, I felt confident she might catch a couple of typos, but the job would be minor. I was SHOCKED when I got it back! It looked like it had been attacked by an army of red worms. A bit humbling, yes, but an important lesson.
9)      Take care of yourself! When you’re wrapped up in writing, it can be easy to forget that you’re a biological creature that needs fed and to have an occasional bathroom break. Set a timer if need be, but you have to get up from your desk every couple of hours and stretch your legs.

10)   Above all, enjoy the ride. Take joy in the little things. A well-crafted sentence. A note or kind review from a reader. Your first autograph. Most of all, simply sharing your work and knowing that your characters are living in someone else’s head for a while. The awesomeness of that idea still makes me smile.

AMAZONCATCHING UP WITH LOVE BY AMY MANEMANN

When event coordinator, Liza Daley, finds herself dumped right before Christmas, she begins to question her life choices. A trip to a bed and breakfast outside of town might be the trick to clear her head, except her solitude is interrupted by the one man who has consumed her every waking thought for the past year.

Baseball catcher, Nolan Collins, has wanted Liza Daley from the moment they met. Out of respect, he’s kept his distance, but it’s nearly killed him to see her settling for a man who isn’t good enough for her. Liza deserves to be loved and cherished, and the longer he waits, the more he realizes he wants to be the man who gives her that.

While the snow continues to fall and temperatures drop, things heat up inside the B&B as Nolan shows Liza there are more things to life than what she’s let herself settle on, like finally getting the chance to catch up with love.
Before she could call out a good morning greeting, he suddenly jumped, releasing a stream of curses that would have made a sailor blush.

“Are you alright…” her voice trailed off as his fingers dug beneath the hem of his shirt and he pulled it over his head with a jerk, revealing the mouthwatering muscles that lay beneath. Washboard abs, hard pecks, and muscles bulged everywhere she looked, and she naughtily looked her fill. Oh Lord, she breathed, desire pulsing through every inch of her body. He was going to be the death of her.

A hint of a smile curved the corners of his mouth when she finally met his gaze, and the breath caught in the back of her throat at the hungry desire in his eyes.

“Good morning,” he said huskily, tossing his shirt into the sink and turning on the tap. “Sleep well?”

“Mm-hm,” was the only legible response she could come up with, her brain sluggish against the fog of desire blanketing her. She really needed to get a grip. Except all she could focus on were the rippling muscles on display. He was going to have to put a shirt on if she was going to have any coherent thoughts today.

“You keep undressing me with your eyes like that and we’ll be late for breakfast,” he mused aloud. Liza was thankful he wasn’t looking at her, because she was fairly certain her cheeks were bright red at that moment.

Clearing her throat, she tossed her long hair over her shoulder, leaning a hip against the countertop. “It’s not my fault you decided to do a strip tease in the kitchen.”

This time he looked at her, a grin cracking his face. “I don’t know if you were aware of it, but bacon grease hurts like a bitch when it hits you. Plus, I didn’t want my shirt to get ruined. It’s one of my favorites.”

Though soaking wet, he held up the faded t-shirt, the tell-tale insigne for the Marlins peeking back at her. She should have guessed.

“Nice shirt.” She tapped her fingers on the countertop, noticing for the first time that they were alone in the kitchen. “No Penelope today?”

“Nope, I convinced her to let me make breakfast this morning, promising I wouldn’t burn the house down. I hope you like bacon, eggs and toast.”

As if on cue, Liza’s stomach rumbled loudly. They both laughed.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” He wrung water from his shirt, shutting off the tap with his elbow. Droplets of water run down the front of his pecs, and Liza followed them hungrily.

“Not that I don’t appreciate the show,” she let her eyes linger on his abs, “but if you expect me to eat breakfast with you, it’d go a lot smoother if you put on a shirt.”

With a grin that sent her stomach somersaulting, Nolan dropped the shirt in the sink and stalked towards her, crowding her space with his body until she was completely off balance. Liza grabbed hold of the first thing she came in contact with, which just so happened to be his broad shoulder. His arm snaked around her waist, holding her in place as the heat of his skin seared her hand, burning through her clothes. What she wouldn’t give to be skin to skin with him right now.

“Are you sure about that, Sweet Cheeks? Your lips,” his heavy stare landed on her mouth for a full second before rising back to her eyes, “say one thing, but your eyes are saying something else.”

DENNY SLID HIS BODY DOWN until his head was fully submerged in the Jacuzzi. When his phone starting buzzing, he decided to drown out the sound. Literally. He knew who it was, and he knew why. His friends—mostly Jeff Hammond and Sage Remington—had been hounding him to get out more ever since his wife, Sara, had died a few months earlier. Now here he was on a Friday night alone, and he knew his friends worried about him.

He tried telling both friends that he enjoyed staying at home once he finished his day as the manager of Hammond Homes, which his friend Jeff owned.

“I told Sara I wouldn’t’ let you feel sorry for yourself, and I’m not going to let her down,” Jeff had said the day before. “Sage and some of the other guys are meeting up tomorrow at Nightcaps, and you’d better be there or Sage and I are going to come over to your house and put you in a strait jacket, or you can go willingly.

So Denny knew who kept calling persistently. With a sigh, he stood up and reached for a towel. In a few minutes, there would be pounding on his door, before Jeff took the liberty of using his own key to come into his house. Sage would be sure to follow.

Only this time, when he opened the door, he discovered they had double teamed him. Kurt and Dex Remington, Sage’s brothers, came along with the other two. When he saw the three hulking Remington brothers and his best friend standing in his living room, he knew he had no choice but to put on some clothes and go out with the four of them.

“Get your ass dressed,” Jeff commanded.

“Or you’re going just like that into the strait jacket,” Sage said. “You’ve got no choice.”

“Besides, Leanna has brought along one of her friends, and she’s a looker,” Kurt said referring to his girlfriend. “And hurry it up, the girls are getting plastered at the bar without us there.”

“And running up our bar tab,” Dex said.

“All right.” Denny caved and gave into their demands because he knew he had no choice. “But I sure wish you’d stop trying to fix me up. I’m not ready.”

The four other men shook their heads, then pushed him toward the bedroom to get dressed.

AMAZONA TWIST OF LOVEBY CALINDA B
Forced into rehab by lead singer Dante Vegas, the Marked Love drummer Gia “Styx” Swain wants nothing to do with sobriety—or the gorgeous, kind man she’s been assigned to be with twenty-four hours a day. Her hand forced, unable to deal with her situation, she escapes his care, heedless of the consequences.

Marco Monroe, a former ex-Marine, loves helping people get free of their addictions. He’s good at it. Plus, it helps keep his mind off the tragic accident that stole his fiancée away. Being a sober companion to the drummer of one of his favorite bands proves challenging…as well as difficult to stay mindful of his boundaries.

With everything on the line, can they possibly yield to the potent attraction between them? Or, would giving into one another destroy everything they’ve sought to create?

Cameo appearances from Dex Remington, Ellie Parker, Mitch Anziano and Regina Smith, from Game of Love.

Marco nodded, turned, and dragged Gia from the bar, across the sticky tiles.

"Stop it!" she protested. "You're hurting me. I still have bruises."

Marco said nothing, shoving open the door.

Gia blinked again, her eyes stinging from the late morning light. She glanced at the grimy sidewalk, covered with litter. "Where'd you learn to fight like that?"

"Marines," Marco said, in clipped tones.

Her eyebrows flew up. I've got a Marine as my sober companion? Shit. I just thought him a fitness addict. Real fear made an appearance for the first time since this whole shit-storm began, like arms trying to crush her chest.

"So, what next?" she said, still tripping over her feet.

The guy had a long-legged stride.

"New plan," Marco said, approaching a shiny SUV.

A couple of teens lounged against the vehicle, arms crossed. One of them had a cigarette dangling from his lips.

"Thanks for watching the car, guys." Marco fished in his pocket, pulled out a wad of bills, and tossed it in the boys' direction.

The kid with the smoke deftly caught the crumpled bills. He removed the cigarette from his mouth and fingered the cash. When he unfolded the wad, he grinned.

"No problem.” He nodded to his companion. “Let's roll."

Marco dragged Gia toward the vehicle. He hauled open the passenger door and shoved her into the seat.

"Ouch! Quit being so rough with me," she said, noting the same new whine as yesterday.

"Apparently, you like it rough if those sleaze-bags I just tossed are any indication." He reached down for the glove box, opened it, and retrieved a set of handcuffs.

Gia's eyes grew large. "What are you going to do with those?"

"Sex games, what do you think?" Marco said, a glint in his eye.

For a fleeting second, hope flitted through her woozy brain. Might be nice.

He grabbed her wrist and fitted one of the cuffs over it. He clicked it shut. He fitted the other end over the door handle before slamming the door shut.

She tugged against her restraints. They didn’t give. She let out a sigh and slumped against the interior.

Marco climbed in the other side, blasted on the ignition, and took off.

"Where are we going?" she asked, as they headed out of Peckham.

"You'll see." His lips pressed tight.

Gia stared out the window at the London cityscape. When it yielded to rolling hills and quaint cottages, her brow furrowed.

"Where are we going?" she asked again.

The big guy stayed quiet.

"So, I get to know nothing?" she asked. She started to cross her arms at his silence, but the cuffs pulled at her wrist. She let out a huffy sigh.

He drove through a silly little town full of shops and tourists, and then headed toward the hills. He hooked a hard right into a gravel-lined driveway, leading up to an innocuous looking house at the top of one of the hills.

"B&B?" Gia said, grinning. "Is this where the sex games commence?"

RELEASE TOUR: Brooklyn Blues by R.E. Hargrave

BROOKLYN BLUES by R.E. HargraveGenre: BDSM Erotica (short story)
By day, Brooklyn Crenshaw goes to work and does her job. She doesn't make waves, simply follows orders and stays off the radar. Oh, and she might have a crush on WILLIAM K. BAXTER from across the hall. Each time she passes his office—with his polished name plate on the window—her gut clenches with desire at the sight of him. But he never looks up, can't possibly know who she is, and even if he did, her needs would send him running. Because they always ran.

At night, in private, she turns on her laptop so that her Sir can turn her on. Brooklyn’s never seen His face, but she knows His voice and the magic of His words. The arrangement works for her. Mostly.

As the office holiday party approaches, Brooklyn starts receiving Secret Santa gifts which suggest more than casual interest, Sir reveals his fondness for exhibition and voyeurism, and WILLIAM K. BAXTER finally looks up at her, and waves.

Brooklyn begins to question everything. Does she continue to follow the orders of a man who hides behind technology, but is always there, or does she take a chance on the man right in front of her who’s seen her at long last? Then there is the Secret Santa who seems to know what makes Brooklyn tick. So many decisions.

‘Tis the season… to be kinky.

“Is everything okay, Sir?”

“Hm? Oh, yes. Just thinking.”

“Oh?”

“Entertaining personal fantasies is all. It would be an honor to escort you to this shindig.”
Brooklyn sighed. “Sir—”

“I know. I apologize. No more pressure, bunny.” After a pause, he added, “If you were to invite me, though, I’d love seeing you in candy-cane stripes.”

Shaking her head, a soft laugh escaped her. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“On a serious note. Whether you allow me to come, or not, I would like to set you a task for the evening.”

Throughout her body things tightened at his words, the deepening tenor they were being delivered in sending heat across her flesh. “Yes?”

“Hm. Yes, I think candy cane-striped thigh-highs, a daring short dress—in red, please—no bra, and let’s see, thong or commando. Your choice.”

She almost scoffed. That had all sounded pretty damn specific to her, and quite well-thought out. Her gut told her he hadn’t pulled this from his hat on a whim. Or that she didn’t really have a choice, either. His lust-laden voice lifted to her ears before she could form a reply, leaving her quite the mental undertaking.

“Your task is to observe, bunny. Keep your head held high when you enter the party. Don’t shy away from the attention you will get. Unless I’m mistaken, and I rarely am when it comes to the marvels of the human psyche, reactions will vary. There will be those longing to be you, those who wish to have you, and still others will hate you for your confident beauty, but all their heads will turn. Embrace that.”

RELEASE TOUR: Keep Me Warm by Jude Ouvrard

KEEP ME WARM by Jude OuvrardGenre: short story contemporary romance
When a fire turns your heart into ice, it can’t possibly melt without revealing scars.

Adele has lost everyone and everything she loves. Now she’s coping with an unwanted new reality which includes working as a maid in a chic hotel in downtown Seattle to make ends meet. Uninterested in a relationship, her frozen solitude suits her just fine.

She thinks.

When a handsome guest walks into the room she is cleaning and sets her frigid life ablaze again, Adele discovers there is more than one way to burn. Will this new friendship be a smoldering ember or ignite a conflagration which could consume what remains of her heart and soul?

Sitting in the back of a cab on a cold, starless night after an amazing night with my friends, I see flames leaping from a roof down the street and the flashing lights of firetrucks. Checking our location, I try to convince myself the chaos is far from my place, but the closer we get, the harder it is to breathe. My chest aches and my mouth is dry. In actuality, we’re very close to my home.

“This can’t be real,” I mumble to myself.

When we reach the last corner, a police officer asks the cabbie to stop. Panic and agony build in me at an unreal rhythm. There’s no more question as to whether it’s my home, our building, on fire. I jump out of the car and run toward the scene, but am held in place by two strong men. Though their hands are keeping me in place and they’re talking to me, I don’t hear anything.

“My husband and my son are in there. My husband… my son… please. Hurry!” I yell at them urging them to get my family out. Pushing their hands away, I try again to run inside to get them myself. My life is in there. My whole world. “Gabe? Brock!” I pray calling upon all the Saints, and God.

“Ma’am, you can’t go inside. It’s too dangerous.”

Crying, hurting, and looking everywhere around to see if they’ve made it out, I don’t see them. I don’t. The firefighter is trying to bring me to the ground. I’m kicking, pushing, and punching, though; there’s nothing stopping me while I yell, “A boy and a man from apartment four, on the second floor.” Pushing myself from the ground with my legs, once more I’m trying to run away.

“Ma’am, you can’t go in there.” Another man has joined the first, and together, they drag me out of the danger zone.

“Where are they?” When his face falls, void of all emotion, I know how bad my life has just gotten.
